The new album 'III' has finally dropped: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...K5j--aBWkOhDtO

I honestly think this might be one of the better releases we've seen all year, as I find myself listening to it from start to finish without skipping a single track. My personal favorites have to be Contaminated, Stroke, Godless, Sawzall, Hawaiian Mazes, and Alaska
Phantom Thread (2017) in Movies ·
My personal ranking:

1. There Will Be Blood 2. Magnolia 3. Boogie Nights 4. Phantom Thread 5. The Master 6. Inherent Vice 7. Punch-Drunk Love. I haven't really seen the others, I guess.
Incredibles 2 (2018) in Movies ·
I'm honestly looking forward to this so much; I think this might actually be my favorite animated film of all time, if I'm being honest.

Jack Murphy5 said:It’s a little too early to call it just yet; I still have about 80% of the heavy hitters from 2017 left to get through.
Of everything I've watched lately, my favorites have to be A Ghost Story, Columbus, Logan Lucky, Get Out, and Song to Song.

I feel the same way.

As it stands, Call Me by Your Name feels like the best film of the year, though I’d probably also highlight the new Blade Runner 2049, The Florida Project, Get Out, and Dunkirk.

It’s like trying to claim the American GDP is somehow bigger than Switzerland's.

He founded Standard Oil, and in 1957 Fortune magazine named him the richest living American,[3] while the 1966 Guinness World Records named him as the world's richest private citizen, worth an estimated $1.2 billion (approximately $8.9 billion in 2016).[4]
Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close (2011) is one of those more recent films that I think deserves a bit more attention,

Joseph Fowler33 said:Right now, I’m navigating a pretty heavy cocktail of meds: I’m taking Depakote 300 mg (one in the afternoon and one at night), Prazosin at 25 mg (once in the morning, once in the afternoon, and then a 100 mg dose at night), half a pill of Rivotril 0.5 mg in the morning, half again in the afternoon, and a full one at night, plus one 2 mg tablet of Akineton in the morning. Does anyone who’s more experienced with this, or maybe someone on a similar regimen, mind explaining what the Depakote is actually doing for me? My psychiatrist mentioned we might start tapering it off at my next check-up, though I have no clue what the daily dosage reduction will look like yet. 😵

Regarding Valproate—given your specific situation, using it as a mood stabilizer essentially works by boosting those GABA neurotransmitter levels. Since GABA acts as an inhibitory agent, it’s generally believed that this process helps to dial down manic episodes. I guess it just helps steady things out.

The track itself is alright, I suppose, but the music video feels a bit much to me.
Jackie (2016) - Pablo Larraín in Movies ·
briskhound2 said:By the way, when starting new threads, it might be a good idea to include a bit of American English, since—believe it or not—not everyone here is fluent in English.

Fair enough, I’ll keep that in mind for next time. It seems like a lot of the topics get started with just a brief summary in English, though I don't think I've really heard anyone mention it until now.
Jackie (2016) - Pablo Larraín in Movies ·
Jackie offers a deeply moving and intensely personal look at one of the most profound and heartbreaking chapters in American history, seen through the eyes of the iconic First Lady, then Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy (Natalie Portman). I feel the film succeeds by immersing us directly into her private reality in those heavy days right after her husband was assassinated. While she was always celebrated for such incredible grace and composure, this movie provides more of a psychological deep dive into the First Lady as she fights to preserve her husband’s memory and the "Camelot" era they had built together.

Director: Pablo Larraín
Genre(s): Biography, Drama
Rating: R
Runtime: 100 min

From critics:
Eschewing standard biopic form at every turn, this brilliantly constructed, diamond-hard character study observes the exhausted, conflicted Jackie as she attempts to disentangle her own perspective, her own legacy, and, perhaps hardest of all, her own grief from a tragedy shared by millions.

It is both the Oscar bait drama we thought it would be and yet fuller, richer due to Larrain's direction and Portman's vivid, unforgettable performance.

Eclipsing Her work in Black Swan, Portman flutters like a sail in a brisk wind. She is scattered, tense, wrecked and compellingly defiant in the face of those who would have her act a certain way.

The new album is finally out:

1. Gemini feed
2. Fuck with myself
3. Lovesick
4. Mind Games
5. Trainwreck
6. this is not About US
7. Weaker Girl
8. Mother Earth
9. Judas
10. Haunt
11. Poltergeist
12. The Hilt

I think I’ll need to give it a few more listens to really soak it all in, but so far, I’m finding it to be an excellent record. It feels like she might have already released some of the heavy hitters as singles—specifically Gemini feed and Mind Games—though maybe I just feel that way because those two have been on repeat for me quite a bit. I also found Fuck with myself, Trainwreck, Judas, and Lovesick to be really standout tracks. To The Hilt is such a beautiful song, too. Generally speaking, I suppose her lyrics have always been her strongest suit, and they certainly remain the highlight of this album, much like her overall artistry.

Fan and radiator issues in IT Support ·
For the last few months, I’ve been dealing with this frustrating issue where my three-year-old HP Pavilion laptop starts running its fan at such an intense speed that it creates this heavy buzzing sound—it actually gets to the point where the whole machine feels like it's vibrating. I haven't really noticed a pattern, though; it doesn't seem to trigger specifically when I'm running anything demanding on the RAM or the graphics card. It just happens seemingly out of nowhere. Usually, if I shut the laptop down and let it sit for a while, the noise disappears entirely, even if I restart it immediately. It stays quiet for a day or two, maybe more, and then the fan goes crazy again. A few months ago, this would happen every couple of days, but lately, it seems to be happening every single day.

So, I finally decided to try and clean out the fan myself. I opened everything up and managed to clear out a pretty significant amount of dust that had built up inside, but unfortunately, that didn't help at all. In fact, things actually seem to have gotten worse; now the fan runs at maximum speed constantly, making that same loud, vibrating noise that makes it almost impossible to use the device 😬 I was wondering, is it possible that this is being caused by dried-out or worn-out thermal paste? I actually went ahead and detached the heatsink assembly from the CPU and GPU, but since I didn't have any new paste on hand—and to be honest, I hadn't really heard much about how important that part is until now—I just put it back together without applying anything new. Is it possible the hardware itself has just failed, or am I looking at a thermal issue?

I guess I find her song Better a bit hard to get into at first 😬 but then I realized she probably won't even make the cut for the new album. Personally, I think fwm is actually quite great because it leans a little more into that alternative sound compared to the previous record, yet it still stays catchy—it honestly reminds me of a less experimental version of fka twigs

The Jungle Book (2016) - Jon Favreau in Movies ·
Opening weekend earnings hit $291M, with the Domestic haul reaching $103M I suppose this is just another massive win for Disney 🙏

It’s sitting at 95% on Rotten Tomatoes, and people seem to be raving about the visual effects and the 3D experience. Because of that, it might actually be worth seeing in IMAX, which is something I haven't really felt like doing in quite a while.

The director behind Iron Man 1/2 and Chef is bringing a fresh Disney's adaptation of the book about jungle to American theaters on April 14, 2016. It features an impressive lineup of talent providing voices for the characters: Bill Murray - Baloo (voice), Ben Kingsley - Bagheera (voice), Idris Elba - Shere Khan (voice), Lupita Nyong'o - Raksha (voice), and Scarlett Johansson - Kaa (voice). So far, the film seems to be garnering some truly wonderful reviews:

IMDb
I have to say, I find myself agreeing with the general consensus forming here. It feels like a painfully mediocre movie that essentially gutted the franchise by splitting it into Part 1 and Part 2; it seems such a shame because the first installment was actually quite refreshing, earning praise from critics as a breath of fresh air among YA series, and the second film set an incredibly high bar for what future YA adaptations could achieve.
