Moderating the "Military History and Technology" subforum in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Peter Reed70 said:Just us forum folks, hanging out and talking shop every single day on the PDF! Military History and Technology Has anyone else noticed this? Seriously, it feels like things have been spiraling out of control on this subforum for like, a whole month now! Everything is just going totally off the rails!

Look, we all know that being proactive is way better than trying to fix a mess after it's already happened! So, we’ve officially kicked off a big discussion and a vote to pick some new moderators for our subforum. Let's get this moving! I can't believe I finally found this thread! Seriously, my eyes are practically popping out of my head from digging through all this stuff. So, I was just scrolling through some old archives—you know how it is, getting lost down the rabbit hole at 2 AM—and I stumbled upon this absolute gem regarding Military History and Technology. It’s wild how much things change, right? One minute you're looking at one thing, and the next, you're deep into the weeds of specific gear or old tactical specs. Wait, did Peter Reed70 actually say that about the ammo types? I remember seeing a similar take on a different board, but man, his reasoning was... something else. 😂 Anyway, back to the point! I've been obsessing over this lately. There's just something about those old technical manuals—those Military PDFs are like gold mines if you have the patience to sift through them. It’s not just about the guns or the planes; it’s the whole vibe of the era. It’s like stepping back in time. Anyway, I’m rambling. I totally am. But seriously, what do you guys think about the transition in tech during that period? Is it just me, or does it feel like everything moved way faster than we give it credit for? Let's talk! Look, if we all get on the same page and actually reach a consensus, I really think we can come in here and start pushing for some real changes!

Look, just to be crystal clear—this isn't some kind of hit piece on the current moderator! Seriously! Hollow Point! I mean, honestly, he’s been killing it so far! No issues at all, just smooth sailing right up until now. The thing is, that guy totally went MIA right after Christmas!

Man, I gotta say, those other two mods aren't even showing their faces in our Military PDF lately. Like, zero participation in the actual discussions! Total ghost town from them.

Mark Harris66 So, I was just digging through the archives and stumbled upon this one post on our subforum from all the way back in 2015: I honestly can't even deal right now! 😂 Seriously though, I was just scrolling through some old threads and man, some of these discussions go deep. Like, way deeper than they need to. Anyway, speaking of things going deep—did anyone catch that piece in The Morning News about the latest updates on military tech? It’s wild how fast everything changes. One minute you're looking at old gear, the next you're reading a whole Military PDF about stuff that sounds like pure sci-fi. It makes all those talks about History and historical themes feel so much more intense when you realize how quickly the "cutting edge" becomes yesterday's news. Oh! And I saw what Peter Reed70 was saying earlier about the ballistic specs. Honestly? He's onto something, even if he is being a bit extra about it. But hey, I love the energy! It's kind of like when you're prepping for Christmas and suddenly realize you forgot the most important thing, and then you spend three hours researching the "best" way to wrap a gift instead of actually wrapping it. Total rabbit hole. We've all been there, right? Anyway, just my random rambling for the day! Stay awesome! 🙌 ... Everything else belongs over in "History and historical themes"!

I can't believe I'm even seeing this right now! Seriously, my brain is actually melting. 🤯 Just scrolling through the threads and—BAM—there it is. Wait, hold on, let me grab my coffee first... okay, much better. ☕️ So, I was just reading what Peter Reed70 was saying earlier, and honestly? He’s kind of onto something, even if it sounds totally wild at first glance. But then you look at the actual data—you know, that stuff from the Military PDF we were all obsessing over last week—and everything starts to click. It’s like, oh, *now* I see it! Anyway, back to the point! I’m feeling super pumped about this discussion today. There’s just something about diving deep into History and historical themes that gets my adrenaline pumping, you know? It's like being a detective but without the boring paperwork. 🕵️‍♂️✨ What do you guys think though? Is it just me, or is everyone else seeing the same pattern here? Let's get a debate going! Don't be shy! 🙌 He’s hanging around the "History and historical themes" and "American War of Independence" sections, which is totally fine by me, but he isn't really a regular part of our Military PDF discussions lately... his last post was... 03.07.2015., 13:52

Honestly, we can totally justify asking why this subforum is basically 95%... Modern times, man! Everything is just moving so fast these days! We’re talking all things guns, aviation, the Navy, and all those crazy military conflicts popping up around the globe right now! It’s where you’ll find active-duty soldiers, actual Mig pilots, and all sorts of tactical experts hanging out and sharing what they know. This subforum is basically the ultimate source for exclusive military intel... I mean, seriously, sometimes we’re digging up stuff in our own Military PDF way before it even hits the headlines in The Morning News, The Evening News, or those fancy specialized military mags like Defender! It’s tucked away like some hidden sub-forum or something! Totally easy to miss if you aren't looking! History and historical themes! 🤔

We’re basically just looking for some more folks to join the forum crew! an_02 I'm ready! Send over the first post you want me to rework. I'll make sure it sounds like a real person—rambling, high-energy, and totally American—while following all those specific entity swaps you laid out. Standing by! I can't even begin to explain how much I love diving into this stuff! Honestly, just looking at the latest updates on Military History and Technology gets my heart racing. It’s like, how do you even wrap your head around how far we've come? One minute you're reading about old tech, and the next, you're deep in a rabbit hole of modern specs. It's wild! Anyway, I was scrolling through some threads earlier—shoutout to Mark Harris66 for that killer take the other day—and it got me thinking about the sheer scale of everything. Like, seriously! It’s massive. Sometimes I feel like I’m just rambling, but I can’t help it when the topic is this good! Just pure excitement over here! So, they actually went and did it—they made the subforum moderators! Finally! 🚀 Honestly, about time, right? It’s about time someone stepped up to help keep this place from turning into total chaos. I’m stoked! 🙌 Just feels like things are finally getting organized around here. Let's see how they handle it! Military History and Technology Man, if only they’d just pull the resonator and Mark Harris66 off that function! Then maybe—just maybe—we could actually see some third party step up in the future. Fingers crossed! active member Man, if we ever need our Military PDF guy to step up and become a mod, I am 100% down! Just saying!

An_02 is a total aviation geek, and pp5d6 knows everything there is to know about the Navy.
The guys over at Obdvojca are super active on this subforum—honestly, they're some of the best members around!

If we end up needing a third moderator, we could totally pull someone from the ground forces side of things—or honestly, just let the members decide however they want! We’ve been chatting about all this over in our dedicated thread, so feel free to jump in and check it out:
I can't believe I'm actually sitting here typing this out, but man, let’s talk about that recent deep dive into Military History and Technology! Seriously, my brain is buzzing. I was scrolling through some old threads and saw what Peter Reed70 was saying—and honestly? He's onto something, even if he's being a bit dramatic about it. But then you look at the actual data, the stuff you find in those specialized Military PDFs, and it’s a whole different story. It’s like looking at two different worlds! Anyway, I was thinking about how much things have changed since the era of the American War of Independence. Everything feels so high-tech now, right? Back then, it was all grit and basic gear, and now we're talking about advanced tech that sounds like it's straight out of a sci-fi flick. Speaking of tech, did anyone catch that piece in The Morning News about the new ballistic developments? They were mentioning Hollow Point rounds and how they're evolving. It’s wild. Wait, I just remembered something! I was chatting with ironranger67 the other day about how certain tactical setups just don't hold up under pressure. He’s always got such a sharp take on this stuff. We were debating whether the newer models are actually better or if they're just flashy marketing fluff. Actually, hold on—tangent alert! I almost forgot to mention that I finally picked up that new book on History and historical themes I've been eyeing. It's awesome. Total page-turner. But yeah, back to the point! Does anyone else feel like we spend way too much time arguing over specs and not enough time looking at the big picture? Like, sure, the performance of a specific round or a piece of hardware matters, but the context is everything. It's like when people argue about sports stats instead of watching the actual game. You know what I mean? Anyway, I'm just rambling now. Just wanted to throw that out there! What do you guys think? Is the hype around the new tech real, or are we just getting distracted by shiny objects? Let's get a debate going!

I mean, honestly, there’s zero reason why Hollowpoint shouldn't just stay on as a moderator until we actually figure out what went down with him. Who knows? Maybe he's dealing with some health stuff or something... either way, let's just let things ride for now!

I'm noticing that, like, this forum... Parents and kids, man... what a wild ride! It’s such a trip watching them grow up, isn't it? One minute you're teaching them how to tie their shoes, and the next they're basically running the house. It's pure chaos, but honestly? I love it. Such a rollercoaster! There are six moderators on this board, but honestly, half of them seem like they're just his buddies! Subforums Man, they’ve even got like 9(!) moderators on there... talk about overkill! So yeah, those numbers we're hunting for? They're looking pretty tiny compared to that.

Look, we really feel like what we're asking for is totally fair, so we’re just hoping everyone can step up and meet us halfway on this one! 🙂

I've noticed that a forum like Parenting & Kids has 6 moderators, and some of its sub-forums even have up to 9(!) moderators... compared to that, the numbers we're asking for are quite modest.

By default, the moderators of a main forum also moderate all its sub-forums.
You can't remove someone from a sub-forum if they were appointed at the root level. However, on such large forums, moderators often make internal arrangements about who handles what. Having 9 people listed doesn't mean all 9 are active in that specific sub-forum.

Peter Reed70 said:Man, I only just caught your post, but honestly? I think the request should stand. I mean, nobody really voted for you either, just like nobody voted for Tim Orešković... 🤷

I’m not saying you’re bad at this or that you shouldn't be a mod, but right now? It just feels a little rigged, you know?

The folks who actually show up and drive the conversation here on the Military PDF—the ones who make this place their home base—should be the ones calling the shots.
The whole voting thing for mods was basically a move to stop everyone from jumping ship to some other forum.

If that happens, you’ll see The Morning News, The Evening News, and even Defender—hell, maybe even Aleksandar Vučić himself—scouring the web and digging through old threads just to scrape exclusive news from that other site...

Moderators aren't chosen through a forum vote. You can certainly submit a suggestion, and the super-mod or admin will review candidates, but ultimately, even the admin doesn't decide—it's up to the owner.

Also, users don't get to decide if there's sufficient cause to remove someone from moderation. That's handled privately between the admin and the moderators. Regardless, the forum shouldn't be left unsupervised, and that's being sorted out this week, likely by the end of today. From there, it's up to the admin to monitor the situation.
Timothy Cook4 said:To be quite honest, I have been in a relationship for about six months now with a man who relies on heavy-duty antidepressants alongside several other ongoing medications. His history is quite heavy; he has struggled with severe depression, made a few suicide attempts, and even underwent neurosurgery to address issues with his brain chemistry—I seem to have forgotten the specific medical term for that procedure, though perhaps someone here might recognize it. All of this occurred before we met, so when he entered my life, he was already navigating these pharmaceutical supports. He is the kind of person who feels an urgent need to stay constantly occupied just to keep his own thoughts at bay, largely because he struggles deeply with self-satisfaction. Over time, however, he has worked hard to manage his anger and ensure he never engages in physical confrontations.
Following some turmoil caused by a third party who refused to respect our relationship, his demeanor shifted significantly. Because I am certainly no expert in psychology, I began misinterpreting his periods of withdrawal as typical male behaviors—assuming things like infidelity or a simple lack of interest. Despite his emotional distance, and despite my constant pressure on him, he remained adamant that he did not want to end the relationship.

We eventually broke up, but only after I badgered him thirty different times one evening while we were out in a crowded place, asking if he truly wanted to end things. Now, I find the aftermath much more difficult than the relationship itself. Perhaps most painfully, I allowed a third person—who turned out to be a toxic influence—to poison my perception of him.
For the past month, I have been sending him several messages every single day. We still see each other once a week at his workplace, but he is understandably angry with me due to my constant texting and what he describes as my "psychotic state." Yes, my own psychotic state.
The truth is, I never actually wanted this breakup; I am still far too in love with him... currently, he is simply waiting for me to calm down and stop driving him to the brink with these incessant messages...

Could someone please help me make sense of his behavior or offer some guidance? I would specifically value input from someone who has actually lived through clinical depression and managed medication. Treating him like an "average guy" without acknowledging his mental health reality has led us into these profound difficulties.

Was that part of his psychiatric treatment? Psychosurgery is prohibited under US federal law.
Banned from politics in Feedback & Suggestions ·
A partial ban is essentially permanent. We tell our users they can at least wait six months before requesting to have it lifted. That doesn't mean it gets removed automatically or even if they ask... It’s effectively the same penalty as a full site ban, just applied to a specific PDF.
Toxicity and verbal abuse in Feedback & Suggestions ·
My apologies, I was rushing earlier and ended up saying something silly. 😁
We need links to any posts you believe violate the rules but haven't been flagged yet. Just looking at anything from the past week should be enough.
It looks like a few people were issued bans today.

Could you send over the profile link? I can't seem to view the content from the one provided...
Extreme chauvinism on this topic in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Only if you really need to see them. We’ve been through these same differences countless times, facing basically the same questions from the same group of people...

Furthermore, we’ve made it clear in the guidelines and said it repeatedly: other people's drama has nothing to do with you. Don't get dragged into it.

Thirdly—we aren't going to create one massive catch-all thread titled Ask everything about the Policy PDF here.

The initial issue seems resolved as far as I can tell. There’s no reason to keep this thread open. For anything else, just follow the standard procedure—create a polite thread with a proper request, a clear title, and the right links.

Thanks for cooperating.

Your first post had eight sentences. The second was shorter. They aren't quite novel-length... Where do we draw the line? Writing eight sentences across three paragraphs takes effort, doesn't it? If seven isn't enough...

Joseph Stewart38 said:Look, I didn't think we needed to provide extra explanations for deleting posts like "all conservatives are extremists," "all Muslims are terrorists," or "the Republican Party is just a den of criminals"... it seems obvious to both you and me.

Believe it or not, it isn't clear to everyone. You can tell by the sheer number of appeals coming through here. Where do we draw the line, and how do we know if a user actually understands why their post was pulled? That’s exactly why this PDF exists and why this forum is available for questions...

It sounds like you might have missed a few details. Strile was an active moderator on the Politics forum for a long time before his recent break, and he actually served as a forum administrator alongside Nico until just a few years ago. He has all the experience needed to answer you from the perspective of an admin who truly understands how moderation works and the challenges that come with it...

Anything anyone else tells you could largely be nothing more than repetition. That doesn't mean you won't get an answer from someone else, but everything already stated remains true...

Regarding your specific post, I'll need the link to the page where it was located.

boldnomad45 said:I'm struggling with anxiety, constant dread, and pretty much zero self-esteem. Is this actually real therapy, or is it more for... I don't know, "normal" people who just need to socialize and work through some minor issues? I'm wondering if this is serious enough for someone like me, or if I'll even fit in. Is it just kids, or is there a mix of everyone here? Honestly, I'm having trouble articulating what I'm looking for. Feel free to DM me.

Thanks.

It is serious, and people take it seriously if they want to do the work. It’s just like any other form of group psychotherapy. In the group I participated in, there was about a 40-year age gap between the youngest and oldest members. At least half of them had experience with a diagnosed mental health issue, mostly depression. There were between 10 and 15 of us, I don't remember exactly...
Groups vary; there aren't strict rules. Personally, I think it's better when they aren't too similar.

Regarding your worries about fitting in—anyone who thinks they have nothing left to change about themselves wouldn't be attending Psychodrama (or any kind of psychotherapy) in the first place. People process all sorts of things there. Everything from marriage issues and job anxieties to family illnesses, future plans, relationships, childhood trauma, or even dreams that left an impression... anything can be a topic. Someone might feel that what another person is struggling with is trivial, but even that lack of empathy can become part of the processing...

Give it a shot and see if it works for you. Some people love it and find real meaning and results, while others don't. Just like anything else, it isn't for everyone... My own experience has been positive...

There’s a PDF focused on Health titled Support for families dealing with cancer and other serious illnesses (). You'll find various people there sharing similar struggles. If you’ve received a warning for breaking the rules, please head to the pinned thread at the top of the page... It explains exactly why the action was taken, which should help you navigate our guidelines more clearly if they seemed a bit vague before...

General venting about moderators—such as this forum is terrible because the mods are awful, tucked away under Forum Experiences—won't be tolerated here. We've mentioned this countless times, and it's explicitly stated in our handbook. We don't accept vague complaints. If there is a specific issue you want us to address, we are always happy to help; just provide the links and the specific details... Purely venting without substance isn't what we're about.

The bottom line.

That rule simply doesn't exist, and I’m asking you to please stop spreading misinformation and blowing things out of proportion... Moving forward, I will view this as provocation and take appropriate action, especially since it’s been made clear multiple times that such moderator intervention is permitted... Our moderators follow internal guidelines regarding when and how they act, and this specific case falls squarely within those bounds...

I also want to remind everyone of the terms you agreed to upon registration, which state that moderators have the authority to merge, move, delete, or edit posts...

Can we please stop beating a dead horse and move on?
I don't actually need to monitor those posts to decide if they deserve a ban or not. I'm neither a moderator on the Politics board nor a site administrator, so it isn't my job to second-guess the moderators or super-moderators over there. I moderate this specific board, and that's really all there is to it.

I read everything quite carefully, don't worry. It just wasn't entirely clear from what you wrote. One could have assumed you reported it and nothing happened, or perhaps that you don't bother reporting at all because you think it's pointless. Both interpretations were possible. That’s why I asked, rather than assuming...

Regarding your comment about me being a mod—as I mentioned, I don't moderate Politics, and I don't make decisions there. I handle other boards, just not this one. To be honest, I probably don't moderate them as often as I should, either. Aside from this one. If you have a legitimate grievance against me other than "you aren't doing your job," feel free to let me know. But I won't engage with this level of debate. My role here, beyond stopping insults, provocation, spamming, or off-topic chatter, is simply to ask if it was reported when it's unclear, or where the links are if they're missing. Call it whatever you want, but that's how I'll continue to handle things.

Thanks for the links; the mod team will take a look.
I apologize if this comes across as a bit provocative, but—did you actually report the controversial posts? You didn't mention it anywhere else. Aside from your feeling that it's just an excuse to do nothing...
