Post erased on the Victory in Europe Day thread (May 9th) in Feedback & Suggestions ·
velvetmaker3 said:Another thread where any post that doesn't align with the moderators' political or ideological views will be erased and penalized under the guise of trolling...
Ideological terror and censorship... just the usual around here. It’s much easier for them than actually using real arguments to prove their point. Cowardly...

velvetmaker3 said:But I got flagged just for posting my reasoning on why we don't really have anything to celebrate here...

You already have a dedicated thread for that. It’s a bit uncollegial to jump into someone else's discussion like this...
Just a quick heads-up regarding appeals—general claims about how things "always" happen somewhere else won't fly without actual links to back them up. We've seen this exact argument repeated here countless times...
Take your time to look over the rules in this PDF. There's plenty of time...

Lisa Chase68 said:Just look at how this leftist crowd keeps targeting the conservatives. They managed to push out the only right-leaning moderator on the platform, and now they’re making everything public here... everyone seems convinced that’s exactly why it happened...

If only one side of an argument is left standing after all that biased, ideologically driven moderation, you won't have a discussion anymore... just a void where a forum used to be...
Fine, let them just go around patting each other on the back and barking like they're on Facebook... 🙂 But then you lose the actual discussions, and it just starts feeling like a typical message board. It’s really just a handful of moderators dodging responsibility because they’ve been hanging around here day and night... or more accurately, for years...☕

Roughly a third of your posts here—26 of them, to be exact—are just pure provocation, as you can see in this PDF. While we don't allow multiple accounts, if someone's main goal is simply to disrupt the flow of these discussions, we will issue a permanent ban... Consider this your official warning.

You should probably take that up with Anderson. Or just talk to your lawyer.
We don't take kindly to being ordered around or threatened here.

Susan Price30 said:True, but you're a supermod, and as we all know, you used to be an admin. Plus, you significantly improved that "chronically problematic" Religion sub-forum (along with another section, thanks to the initiative of several other forum members back then and, let's not forget, the respected owner who agreed to the proposals), so those are your "credentials," so to speak. Maybe Politics needs someone like that.

Alternatively, why not open a thread for appeals/comments regarding the Politics sub-forum (similar to what other forums have had since the beginning)? That way, these issues could be handled internally, and appeals/comments would only go to the PZK if they couldn't be resolved there or if the admin needed to intervene.

The PZK shouldn't be clogged up with appeals about moderating Politics threads (which seems to account for about 85-95% of all PZK appeals at any given time). This would lighten the load for the moderators of this sub-forum who are already overwhelmed, and users would eventually have a chance to resolve disputes or questions about moderation in certain Politics threads without them being rushed to closure (which sometimes happens when people jump in from other sub-forums, starting off off-topic or trolling, leading to threads being locked).

Just an idea...

It would just be unnecessary double work. That thread would end up buried under constant appeals, and if someone wasn't happy with the response there, they'd just end up back here anyway...
If the moderators feel that's necessary, they'll open it... But let's get back to the topic at hand...
Susan Price30 said:Whom you—if I'm not mistaken—neither moderate nor have ever moderated.

(And how do you respond to the complaints from people whose posts were deleted in that thread over there?)

The answers he provided were regarding general questions about how the forum administration works. It doesn't really matter that those responses came from someone acting as a moderator on Politics...

Moderating this thread isn't your job...

The reason for the ban isn't quite that romantic. Don't worry about it. Neither you nor the other ladies were even in my line of sight... Everyone complains about their own bans and cards eventually...
That’s all there is to say about it...
Economy and partial bans? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I’m not in charge here. I don't hold any moderator duties for the Economy section.
But from what I can see, people are definitely talking about this—it isn't being ignored. Just hang in there a little longer...

Susan Price30, partial bans can be issued upon request.

Joseph Allen71, a requested partial ban doesn't necessarily have to be lifted just because someone asks. I’m just pointing out that possibility. You might want to take a moment to reflect, as this feels a bit reactionary... but if this is truly how you feel, that's fine. Once she sees the thread, she'll handle it.

Regarding your comments about her not responding... I'm not sure if you sent her a DM, but if it was a standard report, only the moderators of that specific subforum see those. Even admins and super-mods won't see them unless they happen to be part of that specific group.

It seems counterproductive to come here and vent about inaction while simultaneously refusing to share details by saying "figure it out yourselves." Regardless, I located the post and passed it along to the team. (Without overstepping my bounds on their moderation, I noticed people are already reacting to his posts in the thread.)

One final warning—claiming the moderators in the Politics section are supporters of expansionist ideologies is extremely offensive. Consider this my last warning on that subject.

Yeah, that’s definitely a slur.

Just here to troll, nothing more. in Feedback & Suggestions ·
A... I mean, when someone gets banned just for telling someone else to "get lost, you primitive hillbilly," it’s usually because the moderators can't actually handle the debate. Point taken, though...
Go ahead and vent somewhere else. It's a beautiful day out. If this forum feels that toxic, there are much better ways to spend your time than hanging out on a place this unpleasant. If you have a legitimate grievance, check the guidelines in this PDF for how to start an official thread...

Thanks.

You’re more than welcome to reach out to the site admin or even file a lawsuit if you believe you have legitimate grounds... But until either the owner or a court rules otherwise, our policy here on Reddit is that profiles aren't deleted.
Jealousy in Psychology ·
silvercyclist69 said:Envy is such a fascinating emotion to pick apart. We all feel it at some point, but I’m constantly wondering where we draw the line—when do we decide to actually lash out at someone because of what they have, and when do we just let it go? It seems like there's a massive divide here. You look at incredibly successful, wealthy people, and they rarely deal with this kind of resentment; instead, people tend to openly admire their achievements and their status. But then, on the flip side, you see certain individuals who get constant backlash and targeted simply because of their success. What’s the actual driver behind that? There’s this deep-seated concept of petty jealousy that pops up whenever one person gains even the slightest edge over another. It stems from those tiny, incremental differences between us. We like to tell ourselves we all started on a level playing field, which leads to that nagging thought: "If we all had the same shot, how did they end up getting ahead of me?" It’s strange to me how, in certain parts of the country, people will shower praise on criminals, folks who just moved in for quick cash, or career politicians, yet they’ll turn around and openly resent someone who is genuinely educated, hardworking, and building something legitimate. Where does that disconnect come from?

First off, let's be real: we don't all start from the same place. No two people are identical, and we certainly don't all come from the same backgrounds.

Secondly, regarding that bolded part—I'm not sure you and I are living in the same America given that generalization, though I'm certain we aren't moving in the same social circles, because I truly don't know anyone who admires criminals or politicians. And I'm not quite sure how you're grouping expatriates into that mix.😁 I assume there are plenty of educated, honest, and hardworking people among them too.

When it comes to envy, you have to be careful not to confuse it with simply wanting what someone else has. Just wanting something—like seeing a neighbor's new car and thinking, "Man, I'd love one of those"—isn't envy. Envy goes a step further; it's the feeling that I have just as much right to that car as my neighbor does, or that he doesn't deserve it at all while I do. In my own mind, of course. It’s almost like a triangle involving me, the car, and the neighbor. Three factors at play. Deep down, it's really about a desire to avoid feeling inferior to someone else. And whether that inferiority is real or imagined doesn't matter, because it all boils down to the perception of the person feeling envious. You can't really talk someone out of being envious by listing their accomplishments... because it's about how they feel. Personally, I think people who are habitually envious lack a solid sense of self-worth, so they can only judge their own value by comparing themselves to others.

But envy isn't necessarily a monster. It can be bad, sure, but it all depends on how you handle it and what you take from it. If you use it as a compass for your own desires or as motivation to achieve something, then it's actually useful. As long as those goals are realistic... and not, say, deciding to go bankrupt just to buy an overpriced car just to prove a point to the guy next door. 😁

Your ban was actually due to those "delete, delete" comments, just in case that wasn't clear. As for your daydreaming about the Politics subreddit, I couldn't care less. But since I'm here—and even though that section is handled by a colleague who’s a super-mod over there—I noticed the title doesn't mention anything about being "indefinite." It stays open once we have enough moderators on the sub to handle the sheer volume of posts being churned out. It only closes when there aren't enough people... just like how it used to be.

You shared your thoughts there, so I don't see an issue. The appeal regarding the cards was moved to its specific thread, while this one remains open since the discussion is already underway. We've provided our response, and as far as this PDF goes, the conversation is concluded...

We don't delete threads just because someone asks. We won't be deleting this one either. On the other hand, by registering on this forum, you agreed to let the moderators manage the content as they see fit—which includes deleting, moving, or merging posts as part of standard moderation...

This is also our final word on the matter, and it isn't up for debate since the decision won't be changed...
The Forum's Ombudsman? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Nicholas Watson, if you don't mind me asking—what is the actual issue here? You opened another vague thread recently, too. From the start, I felt like there was a specific problem being avoided rather than stated directly, which made the whole topic feel pointless... You don't fix a broken tooth just to have clean underwear. We can debate endlessly to sharpen our skills, but talking won't solve an actual problem.
With this current thread, I'm even more convinced of what I said before. Maybe I'm wrong, but if I'm not, it would be better if you just got to the point...
Moderating the "Military History and Technology" subforum in Feedback & Suggestions ·
The thread is titled VPiT subforum moderation, focusing on proposing new moderators for this section. Honestly, shouldn't one of us handling the VPiT subforum moderation be the one explaining what’s unnecessary in your post?

EDIT: nixolino, my colleagues tell me everything was already cleared up in the message, yet you keep posting the exact same thing without any changes. Because of that, I'm stripping your 30-point card and replacing it with a 100-point penalty for repeated rule violations, and I'm deleting the post.

It wouldn't be ideal to have only one moderator managing the PDF. However, Nice will continue to handle this matter...
