Man, a friend told me Punk just released this incredible 3-CD boxset. It’s actually pretty solid.
I only saw one of The Termites' CDs being sold, bought by a buddy of mine. Honestly, I think The Ramones could be doing much better numbers—though I’m worried they won't even be available here since they might get picked up in Italy first.
Actually, I can't help but wonder if Peter has something to do with this—no matter what search engine I use, whenever I type in "The Ramones," he pops right up... 😁
Man, that would be incredible. Honestly, I’d actually prefer a CD over an LP—mostly just to avoid some snobby, elitist reissue. I want something straightforward that any kid could grab to get introduced to the greatest punk band in America, period. Some bonus tracks would be nice, but they aren't a dealbreaker. I’d much rather see a music video (from archival footage, assuming it exists), maybe a few vintage ads, or even some radio play... I really think "A day started out so beautiful" would outsell something like the last Budweiser release.
Ugh... I don't know... and frankly, I don't care to find out.
It’s interesting how the forum censors the word "*****" (male anatomy), yet leaves the word "pussy" (female anatomy) untouched. Is this what we're calling gender equality now?
Do you think he had some kind of connection to forest animals and herbs? That whole vibe has been trending lately among engineering students over at UT Austin... 😁
Hey, Alex Martinez4, you called it—those drunk guys from Chicago really did want to hear some Bajaga at the B. P. club. They send their regards and want to know if you're "the guy who was smoking the pipe." 😉
I read about them before actually listening, so my expectations were sky-high. In the end, they left me completely cold. What I picked up—the "Apocalypse Dudes" album—is just some pretty mediocre hard rock; it lacks any real edge and only feels provocative every once in a while (the track "don't say Motherfucker, Motherfucker" is a killer title, though). Word is "Ass Cobra" is much better... anyone here actually given it a spin?
maybe something like The Damned - Would you be sol hot ( if you Weren't dead)?
Forgive me if I’m skeptical; all I’ve ever heard scattered around is that NMN sounds "a bit like" Minutemen, but never that they were a carbon copy of anyone—God forbid they were, considering how much I love that band. We'll see, though. I'll dig up some info online...
Regarding Metallica, their objectively best album prior to "Chaos A.D." is likely "Beneath the Remains," released back in 1989. "Arise" is just as strong—personally, I might even prefer it for subjective reasons—but it didn't really break any new ground compared to its predecessor.
Napalm Death's "Scum" absolutely had to be on this list if extreme metal is being considered. It's easily the most original and influential metal record of the late eighties...
Congrats to the colleague above on an excellent selection of Ramones albums for the eighties (I’d personally be torn between "Pleasant Dreams" and "Brain Drain," though "Pleasant Dreams" probably takes it). I wasn't complaining about the Ramones, because I've already accepted that nobody appreciates their records after "Rocket to Russia" (or maybe "Road to Ruin"). I am well aware they dropped a mountain of fantastic albums afterward ("End of the Century", "Pleasant Dreams", "Subterranean Jungle", "Too Tough to Die", "Brain Drain", "Mondo Bizarro", "Adios Amigos!" — all of them perfect), but I've made peace with the fact that I'll never convince anyone else of that. It doesn't bother me much, but I still get a bit cynical when some indie-than-thou types try to lecture me that the Hanson Brothers are better than anything the Ramones recorded after "Road to Ruin" (burn, AllMusic, burn!).
np Anal Cunt - Everyone in the Underground Music scene is Dumb 🙏
p.s. If Nomeansno really is just a copy of Minutemen, then I'm going out to buy every single one of those other bands' albums. But I assume they aren't, right?
So, is there actually a life after graduation? One where you don't have to study or grind through anything ever again? Is that what religious folks call "paradise"?
I assume that’s why there isn't even a New York Calling. Sandinista! came out around '80 or '81, I think, and it was undoubtedly one of the most influential albums of the early eighties... 🙄
