How many times do I have to say it? Harry Belafonte is the gold standard, and he sure as hell isn't cheesy. You just need to listen to "Coconut Woman" or "mama Look-a-Boo boa" to realize how much soul is actually there! 😁
That blue-haired guy above finally remembered—"Last Christmas" is the ultimate cheesy anthem, which is exactly what this thread is about. I highly doubt anyone here actually enjoys Michael Bolton... 😕
Oh, absolutely, Nirvana! Back then, everyone was listening to them. I had both "Nevermind" and "In Utero," so I felt like I really understood their vibe. I'm almost embarrassed to admit that even now, I still haven't listened to "Bleach." 😳
Everything I used to listen to, I still listen to today—with the exception of MC Hammer (though I actually find myself craving him again; I’ll have to hunt down some vinyl at a flea market) and Guns N' Roses (mostly because I can't be bothered to rip "AFD" and "UYI 1 & 2" just yet, but I'll get to it)...
Look, I haven't even heard of this SY track. What's the deal with it?
"Dead Man" is just a bit too vague for me, honestly. It’s all scratchy guitar riffs, some random talking, more distorted noise... and before you know it, they've already moved on to the sixth track. But whatever...
The best soundtrack I’ve ever laid eyes on belongs to some hyper-obscure 1985 spaghetti western called "Walker"... and the reason it hits so hard is because Joe Strummer did the score. It’s this wild blend of Latin, Cuban, and Morricone vibes mixed with a touch of country and jazz. The melodies and arrangements are gorgeous—stunningly beautiful and incredibly catchy, even if most of it is instrumental. Naturally, you can't find it anywhere; it's impossible to buy or download... but I managed to scrape it together through sheer willpower back when Napster was still a thing. God bless him.
p.s. I don't want to hear the "Pulp Fiction" soundtrack ever again. If there is a single CD that gets played way too much in coffee shops, parties, and bars, this is it (along with those last two Red Hot Chili Peppers albums). If I have to listen to that "I'm gonna execute every mother fuckin' last one of you" line one more time, I might actually do it...
Wait, what?! I didn't even realize they filmed it! I mean, I've heard whispers...
Calling it garbage is an understatement... What a waste. Daredevil is easily my favorite of all those superhero comics—dark, smart, and genuinely beautiful. But good grief, there isn't a shred of genius that Hollywood can't find a way to screw up...
I still remember when he used the word "punk-ish" five times and "Ramones-esque" twice in his review of Idiocracy... If it weren't for him, we'd have to invent someone better.
I never really understood this whole trend of writing reviews before the shows even happen. It's pathetic.
for example, HIM (not the San Francisco version) - The Rolling Stones
