and well—it isn't exactly my first choice, per se, but it has to be... and the style is—well, let's just say it's very understated 😉

So, I was thinking—this would look absolutely stunning right next to the bookshelf 🙂

And this part here? This is going to be my display stand 😍
I’m leaning towards popping an orchid or maybe something similar up there... 🙂

I’m actually kind of digging this whole idea with the calligraphy...

We’re going to have a lovely cake, though I already know deep down it won't be a total masterpiece—mostly because it's all whipped cream, specifically that real heavy cream stuff you whip up yourself—so I'm currently hunting for some sort of textured, rustic, or "perfectly imperfect" design to help mask her little decorating mishaps ☕

Douglas Martinez15 - she got an Irke from Graber and man, it was such a stunning cake—I’m pretty sure it was all whipped cream, definitely wasn't that heavy Ticino style...
plus, she mentioned that the Irke was actually delicious too 🙂

she hasn't stopped by the Irke in quite a while, but maybe try sending her a private message...

Well, goodness me... Cukeraj really is the best 🙂

I honestly haven't the slightest clue... though it’s likely just as basic as our own little 🤷

Check out one of her cakes—bottom layer is Black Forest, while the top two are walnut and parfait, custom-made. And yeah, those flowers on top are actually fresh.

Girls, please don't be mad at me, but these kinds of cakes are just... well, a nightmare for my eyes... all those little tiers, then the fountains, then rings, then sprayers... it's just such a lot going on at once... 🤷
It really feels like way too much for me... 😕
What is even the point of all that?!?!?

I’d probably set aside about 25 days for sharing too... and when it comes to the party, I was told 10 to 15 days would suffice—though honestly, that feels a bit stingy to me, so I think I’ll bump it up to 20 days just to be safe... then again, my guest list isn't exactly huge, so if I end up with an extra couple of pounds left over, it's really no big deal... there's always someone happy to eat it anyway.

Yeah, by my math—maybe 12, 14, or even $5.00 depending on which one you pick... unfortunately, I don't have the exact breakdown of the pricing right in front of me, but if you just take a quick peek at their website, I think you'll be able to figure out the cost pretty easily 🙂

Honestly, four chocolates sounds absolutely perfect to me—plus, it looks incredibly delicious... 🙏

hehehehe... we still haven't quite settled on which three flavors to go with... a fruit sorbet is definitely happening, and I really need to keep my partner happy, so there’s going to be dark chocolate... as for that third one, we’re still totally up in the air 🙂

plus, you absolutely have to have some sweets on hand—you know how it is, the ladies need something to snack on 🙂

man - once I finished that "tasting"... everything else just kind of faded into the background... 🙂

We absolutely raided Sugar—both for the cookies and the cake 🙂

steelfox15 said:Wait, so did everyone actually try the same half-pound batch, or did you grab more later? Honestly, this whole thing gives me major Jesus vibes—you know, the part where He’s out there multiplying the fish and bread. It's like, one little half-pound of cake and suddenly you, your friend, and the whole choir have had a taste🙂

Oh man, what a mess... just absolutely wild...

I had the exact same thought—mostly because I know if that half-pound of treats is left sitting out, I’ll end up devouring the whole thing myself... alone... 🤣

Oh man... I really hope they don't screw us over here—I mean, we do know each other, after all... 🤷

brightorca10 said:Hey everyone, I'm new here! I see you guys have already listed a ton of bakeries and dessert spots... honestly, I haven't even made it through all of them yet. Has anyone actually tried Charlotte? (The one on Broadway near the Holy Spirit area). I'm planning a super small wedding, just about 30 people, so I'm feeling a bit lost on where to start with the cake. Thanks!

Actually, Charlotte is a bakery run by Caterina Favory...

I've had the chance to try their treats at a few events they catered, and while I'll admit they look absolutely stunning—they just weren't really my thing flavor-wise... 🤷

It’s actually a huge relief to see—it makes me feel so much better knowing I'm not the only total dessert freak out there 🙂

Jacob White37 said:It matters little to me either way; I couldn't care less about the distinction. 😉

David Howard9, if you happen to find anything out, do let me know—a private message is fine. 🙂

My friends ended up taking one small, perfectly decorated General Mills cake... and they also had three or four other slices from General Mills sitting there on the side that were just being sliced and served... 😉
Wedding cakes and desserts in Weddings ·
Jacob White37, are you absolutely certain that those little treats actually count as wedding cake decorations? I’ve always heard they weren't quite up to that standard... 🤷

Rachel Palmer65 said:Figured I'd jump in and share my own experience with bakery treats too... Tried the stuff at Orient, they're decent, but they don't really do those bite-sized finger foods for weddings. Stopped by Casner once, but didn't grab any minis to taste because they only sell them by the pound ($30, and they say if it's for a wedding it's $27/lb). But seeing how much you guys are raving about their little bites might make me change my mind. 🙂 I picked up a Jaffa cake and a few other things there just to try them out, and honestly? A bit disappointed. The sponge was super airy, almost like that mass-produced industrial stuff, not that homemade feel. Maybe their mini pastries are better since you all seem so obsessed...
Tried some sweets from Emma, they were tasty—I think it was $33/lb—and the cakes I sampled were good too. Wedding pricing is basically the price per slice times the guest count, though the lady there mentioned you can negotiate with the owner...
Sugar Land... my absolute favorite is their four-chocolate cake (ordered it for a christening before and everyone loved it) and the raspberry parfait. Their bite-sized treats are also really delicious and high quality (especially the one with cherries and chocolate cream). Only thing is, they weren't all cut perfectly even, which doesn't bother me normally, but for a wedding, they really should look uniform. Grabbed a raspberry parfait cake for a birthday this weekend, but I have to say, it felt different than the one I tried before... like they skimped on the raspberry layer and added more sponge... I'll double check, but I hope I'm wrong because Sugar Land is definitely on my shortlist.

those little cookies were absolutely divine😍
