Struggling to sleep? Any tips? in Health ·
Kyle Nelson2 said:Workouts? I guess you could hit the stepper at the gym... but you really need to start with a warm-up first (like, maybe 5 minutes of jogging), then move into standard fitness stuff, and then wrap things up with at least 20 minutes of running...
But, honestly, you have to make sure your heart rate actually hits a certain threshold if you want any actual cardiovascular changes. Otherwise, it’s kind of pointless, though I can't quite remember the exact BPM you need to hit...

As for fluids? Just drink when you feel like it, I suppose. You've got all those different Gatorade drinks with electrolytes and stuff... you don't need to overdo it, just listen to your body. For example, I think marathon runners go through about a liter during a run and then slowly replenish it afterward... so yeah, they lose fluid during the race and then catch up later.

uh, forget the stepper... I'm more about the meditative stuff... yoga, martial arts therapy, though I can never quite nail the discipline part...
How much water? Just drink when you feel like it...

I've pretty much settled on those two liters everyone always talks about... I thought you were gonna share some new insight...
If I don't hit that, I just feel sluggish and tired... plus, I've gotten hooked on the spring water from the little town where I live, so if I don't have a bottle in my bag, I'm just not myself

Kyle Nelson2 said:The whole idea that you need to chug massive amounts of water comes from this notion that the liver just dissolves toxins in liquid to flush them out. But honestly, I guess what really matters is actually *what* you’re drinking...

Using coffee as a diuretic isn't exactly a smart move, because diuretics don't actually help the body process excess fluid—they just force the fluid out. Period.
If you want to actually refresh your system, maybe it's better to speed up fluid turnover through aerobic exercise rather than just forcing your kidneys into overdrive for drainage.

Anyone got more info on this? Like, how much water are we talking about? What kind of workouts... thanks

Noah Harris50 said:So, I'm into yoga. I hit the pavement for a 45-minute run three times a week, blast some chill music, and knock out about 10 minutes of meditation daily.
I kick things off every morning with some Sun Salutations.

With that kind of routine, you really shouldn't be dealing with this. Props to you for staying on top of things.
Someone already mentioned it, but maybe check your calcium and magnesium levels...
is it just us three unlucky bastards?

They exist, just ask at a local pharmacy—there are plenty of different brands out there
Can someone give me a plain-English, common sense explanation of how antibiotics actually work?
- Why does the timing matter so much?
- And why do people say if you don't finish the whole course, it’s basically like you never even took them...
Rest in Peace, Zendaya in Health ·
Friend of Zendaya, I’m so sorry. Sending my deepest condolences to the family!
Even these online goodbyes hit hard...
Thanks, Kimberly Nelson5! It’s honestly heartbreaking reading stuff like this... I feel so bad for your sister-in-law. I actually need to hear these kinds of horror stories, though, because I’m seriously second-guessing whether I should go through with a second pregnancy.

Thanks, Grace Foster37! Your story ended on a high note, and you’re definitely brave for getting through that. As you can see, I’m still stuck in limbo... knowing that things like eclampsia or HELLP syndrome can be so fatal makes it hard. I really hope more people share their experiences here, hopefully with better endings next time.
Two years ago, I went through a total nightmare with childbirth. Preeclampsia wasn't even caught during those final weeks, so I ended up in emergency C-section territory with my blood pressure hitting 230/125. Against all odds, my pressure wouldn't drop after delivery either, which led to an eclamptic seizure that night. It trashed my liver and kidneys for a bit. After sticking to a super strict diet, things finally started leveling out. I'm doing okay now.
Since medical science basically has zero answers when it comes to why eclampsia happens, I’m flying blind regarding any future pregnancies. And honestly, I really want another baby...
Has anyone else been through something this intense? Did anyone actually decide to try again after a trauma like that? If so, how did the next pregnancy go?
Please, if you can, share your stories. Real-life experiences are the only thing that might help me make this decision. Thanks!
Is tap water safe to drink? in Health ·
There’s this spring near New Jersey with some seriously incredible drinking water. I actually use it for my dishes and showers... in the summer, I even rinse my hair with it. You can really tell the difference...
placidfox55 said:We don't have a massive obesity problem yet, but over the last decade, the number of overweight people in the US has shot up dramatically. We seriously need to start watching every unnecessary calorie we take in:

- sipping on Orange Juice just because we're bored (why not just have blueberry tea instead?)
- Coca-Cola, Sprite, ... (what's missing from diet soda or the caffeine hit from tea/coffee?)
- any kind of sugary snacks (why not apple slices with almonds instead?)
[/B]

I don't really sweat the calories since my husband and I are thin, though our kid is a bit chubby—but not from the stuff listed above. My concern is food quality. Most of what was mentioned is basically junk grown on industrial mega-farms loaded with pesticides...
so; I make my own juice with a juicer, I only have soda a few times a year (everyone's pushing it right now for the holidays 😬), and you can easily swap snacks for walnuts or almonds (like the boss suggested)... I let my two-year-old clean up her own mess into a bowl; she sets it down, watches cartoons, and munches away...😍

Austin Sanders7 said:...where can I get sage? At a pharmacy? And what about that wheat germ oil? What's the actual point of using it?........t h a n k s!

You can find sage at any health food store, herbal shop, or even a drugstore... it's a solid antiseptic. Good for rinsing if you have gum issues or a sore throat...
Wheat germ oil—or pretty much any good oil—works better on skin than standard creams for one simple reason: creams are just designed to give the skin what it supposedly lacks, period. Oils actually nudge the skin to produce its own stuff, like collagen.
Since you're over in Germany, you've got way more options than we do here, so maybe grab some samples first to see what sticks. Test it on your neck or chest area before putting it on your face so you don't deal with irritation. Wheat germ oil specifically is a massive source of Vitamin E, which skin absolutely loves.🙂
Definitely stick to organic brands (like Whole Foods or similar)...

where's the meat?
my take is we should ditch the deli meats..but definitely bring in some high-quality cuts

I'm not a vegetarian, I just don't eat much meat.😬
yeah, agreed—quality over quantity. i only buy mine straight from local farms...

Ugh, acne... I honestly thought you were talking about some serious skin disease...
I'm no dermatologist, but I know my way around holistic health and body care. Not sure what's triggering yours—maybe hormones, diet, whatever—but there are a few universal things that might help. You basically have to tackle it from the inside and the outside.
Inside-wise, watch what you eat. Too much grease? Way too much sugar? Just cut down on the processed junk food as much as possible. Drink plenty of clean water—ideally spring water—to flush everything out. Nettle or calendula teas are also great for skin issues. And get some fresh air; make sure you're airing out your rooms regularly.
Outside-wise: stop touching those spots!!! Try making a tea with 3/4 chamomile and 1/4 sage, soak a gauze pad (or something similar) in it, and apply it to your face. I do that with cotton pads whenever a pimple pops up. Leave it on as long as you can... chamomile is soothing, and sage acts as an antiseptic. Instead of using a ton of different creams, try asking at a local pharmacy for a simple "cream base." The fewer chemicals on your skin, the better. It also helps to occasionally nourish your face with a quality oil, like wheat germ oil.
Personally, I wouldn't touch antibiotics unless I actually knew what was causing the breakouts.
My advice is a bit all over the place, so just ask if you need specifics. Good luck!🙂

Taroth, it’s not that they’re garbage, but they definitely aren't a healthy substitute for actual fruit. I usually steer clear of store-bought juices unless I made them myself... all that added sugar and artificial coloring...

goca92 said:Hey guys, please let me know if I'm actually eating healthy.

not really
cut the dairy and processed deli meats in half. start throwing more greens and leafy veggies into your lunch... basically just eat way more vegetables. swap out those juices for actual fruit. stick to yogurt with your oats or cereal (throw some seasonal fruit in there too)... drink more water...🙂

Saunas are killer for your skin—really helps get that healthy glow by sweating out all those toxins.
But you still haven't mentioned what the actual diagnosis is. What kind of skin condition are we talking about? How did your dermatologist break it down for you?

What kind of illness are we even talking about here? And those spots... are they scars or just breakouts? You might want to dig a little deeper into the condition itself and look into some alternative approaches.
$8.25 The hourly rate isn't too bad, seems pretty realistic.
My husband's grandparents went through this exact same thing. It took us three tries to finally find someone reliable... people just seem to assume that once you hit 70, you're basically blind and deaf.
Good luck with the search!
