HDMI port issues on my GPU. in Desktops ·

What a joke... seriously, with suggestions like that... why don't you tell him to try plugging it into a DJI drone just to see if it starts taking pictures...🤦

The card is dead. End of story. It's either e-waste now or you toss it in a kitchen oven at 400°F for about 11 minutes—then maybe take it down to a local pawn shop with a note saying "never used"...

Same deal with the "auto" section—out of those three guys, one hasn't even touched a cash register in three years, the second one is just drifting around here and there, and the third? He does absolutely nothing at all.

z_k? You’re basically just helping out with the trolling and giving the green light to all this insulting crap...
Partial ban in "Cars" subforum in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Because of some light trolling—nothing violent, just messing around—I get slapped with a partial ban from the CARS forum, while about 80% of the users who spend months being straight-up toxic to one another walk away totally fine (even though I’ve flagged them to the mods, but apparently nobody cares)
. It’s always the same group of people, too
.
Is there any way I can get my access back to the CARS forum?
So you're asking because of the "paycheck"—meaning the embezzlement, the shady deals, and all that nonsense—and because you actually care about helping the company make decent decisions? 🕺
I’m dying to know... because honestly, no matter how much I try to look at it differently, the first option is the only one that makes any sense to me.
Ethan Mitchell4 said:In my apartment building, every few years—I can't remember the exact interval—they swap out the gas meter. It’s handled by the crew from our local utility provider.

They give you plenty of advance notice, but when they actually show up, you have to have everything ready for them:
- all the documentation regarding the water heater, including who installed it and who commissioned it...
- a certification from a technician stating the water heater is in good working order
- a certification from a chimney inspector confirming the flue is safe
- if you have any other appliances hooked up to the gas line (like my stove), you need all the paperwork for those too, proving they were connected by a licensed professional and everything else required

Once they swap the meter, they use a detection device to check for leaks anywhere. Last time, I had a leak at the connection between my stove and the gas pipe; the technicians just went out, grabbed what they needed, and fixed it right then and there.

It honestly baffles me how, in some places, people are allowed to hook up their own gas stoves or just call over "a neighbor who knows his stuff." In our building, we are strictly required to call a licensed professional for anything involving gas, and we have to keep every shred of documentation from that service on file.

As far as I'm concerned, the service technician is doing exactly what they should be doing: move the meter, and everything stays compliant.

I fail to see how the previous owners have anything to do with this, nor does the fact that you didn't realize the meter shouldn't be located right next to the shower stall matter here.
And I don't see any connection whatsoever between an energy efficiency certificate and this entire situation.

A few months back, I lived in a building where the flues weren't up to code and the chimney inspector refused to sign off on them. The utility company ended up sealing everyone's gas lines shut. They won't reopen them until everything is repaired.
Right now, I live in an apartment where we nearly faced the same fate because the chimneys became leaky. Fortunately, everyone in the building (there are 46 units total) acted in time. We ditched the gas furnaces we used to use for heat, installed radiators instead, and switched to modern exterior-mounted water heaters to replace the old atmospheric ones. We routed the dual venting from those new heaters through the leaky chimneys.

Because in America, it’s all about tradition—why pay some overpriced licensed technician when you can just grab a buddy who works in the trade and have him fix it for a six-pack? 😁

Mexico vs Albania fight
1/3 NO
@ 1.50 SS

I’d personally take the "NO red card" bet for this match...
Here's why—even though the tension between these two is through the roof, both sides know a red card could be a total disaster for their standings. The Albanians really need at least a draw if they can't grab the win—they're banking on Portugal beating Denmark to keep their hopes alive for second place on the table. If they end up playing shorthanded, that's basically impossible...
On the flip side, when the Mexicans realize they aren't going anywhere this year, playing with only nine men (plus the keeper) and risking a loss would be absolute suicide with their media and fans. Losing to what's arguably one of the weakest teams out there would be a nightmare...
I also wouldn't be surprised if the coach hammers home how crucial this game is and strictly forbids any reckless behavior that leads to a red card.

Arsenal - Manchester United 2 @3.5 (3-0) @SS

Maybe I'm just being a fan here, but looking at how things have played out this past month, this isn't even that crazy. Arsenal is just rolling right now—they don't seem to have an answer for anyone, not even LA Galaxy... meanwhile, you've got a team today that's practically a fortress with the fewest goals conceded. Even if their attack isn't exactly terrifying (I mean, even Leicester City put up more numbers 🤣), they'll still jump to first place with a win.

Sunderland AFC vs West Ham United 2 @2.5 (2-2)

Solid value here for a side that’s been facing much tougher away fixtures than what Sunderland AFC just dealt with... they play with zero pressure—nothing to lose—and while they've definitely been part of some high-scoring affairs, they've also conceded more goals than anyone else in the Premier League... I mean, does that really need saying?

Manchester City vs Newcastle United 1 @1.25 (6-1)

A little luck in the LP and a matchup against one of the bottom-dwellers should be a lock today... the gap in sheer talent is massive. Manchester City should walk away with at least a two-goal cushion, especially since Newcastle United has only managed 5 goals in 7 rounds—the lowest in the league—so they aren't exactly a threat...

B Mönchengladbach - Manchester City 2 @2.00 (1-2)

After that total meltdown last week in the Champions League—where even the Vegas oddsmakers got blindsided by Juventus—City needs to actually show up today. They need to use their heads and come out aggressive from the very first whistle... especially since they're struggling to find any rhythm in the Bundesliga right now.
With those two recent domestic losses (probably because they were playing catch-up for the Champions League), City owes the fans a win, and today is the perfect chance to fix things.

Manchester United - Wolfsburg 1 @ 1.85 (2-1)

The exact opposite of City here—United have finally found their groove and climbed to the top of the Premier League. If they can carry that confidence over to the Champions League, they'll be dangerous.
A win basically puts them in the "3-point club," because let's face it, it’s a tall order for PSV Eindhoven to pull something off in Moscow.
It wouldn't even be a stretch to expect at least 2 goals against that Volkswagen squad (odds are 1.70)

Unlike that slimy Google outfit, Rage Against the Machine actually brings some wit and substance to the table—well, at least their tests do. Whereas Google relies on that nauseatingly sweet pop vibe just to "play nice" with the masses

Gary Patel said:If you ask me, the singer doesn't have that typical Mexican accent. For instance, when I first heard Doll—before I even knew who they were—I honestly thought it was some local singer from a place like Chicago or maybe Philly. Maybe that’s part of why they’ve managed to pull more weight and find more success here in the States than back home... their accent feels pretty neutralized and you don't really catch that specific dialect. Don't get me wrong, I don't think it's a "problem," but it definitely helped them break through in the US market.

Well, you should have caught their interview on the local radio station when Matthew and the shaman were hosting...
The way they forced that specific dialect and accent was so much fake... if it were up to me, I’d shut it down and call out everyone responsible for arranging that appearance...
It's just awful... doing it purely to spite everyone who actually listens.🤮

Basically, in five years, nobody is going to remember them... they won't matter at all. And to make matters worse, maybe their fathers were even over there volunteering for Radovan Karadžić or the US Army...🤦

If one guy on this forum tells another guy to go screw his kids, his dad, or his mother, or just tells him to go straight to hell, he gets slapped with a ban immediately. But when someone takes aim at my sacred stuff, they don't just get a pass; their posts aren't even deleted.
I’m asking you guys to please just wipe those posts with profanity immediately. Thanks.

Look, a child, a father, or a mother—those are REAL people!!

The Purge: Anarchy (2014) in Movies ·
The first part ends on such a cliché happy note... honestly, it feels like a total bust to me. I mean, if the sequel (which I haven't seen yet) doesn't involve the daughter, the son, and the widow teaming up to get revenge on the neighbors who tried to take them out, then this whole thing was a waste of time...
but I have to mention the original—there was way more tension in Carpenter's "Assault on..." back in the 70s. It could've gone that way, or even better, in The Purge—the core concept was actually pretty solid.

Taken 2 (2012) in Movies ·
Both sequels are solid—predictable, sure, because you need that happy ending to satisfy everyone, but thank God we’re actually starting to make movies like this in America too (instead of just those depressing social dramas or forced comedies everywhere else)
Whatever, who cares... it’s basically constant anyway—one minute it’s a 504 Gateway Timeout, the next it's something else... this forum has been a total dumpster fire for a long time now...
