Best and worst concerts of the year? in Music ·
PunkPen said:Coachella was a total disaster, especially when those Entreat guys played at the Spider venue...

Argh! How could I let Entreat slip my mind!

Worst. Ever.

you've been assimilated 😈

wiredfalcon2 said:The absolute worst—Liarsi playing at that same KEXP venue (honestly, it’s almost an insult to anyone's intelligence)

Zeitloop is definitely the worst of the bunch.

I actually think things get much more interesting when there's some real, heavy-hitting competition in the mix. 🤔

Besides, there’s really no point in debating this until we’ve even considered bands like Acid Mothers or NMN.

This one looks pretty intense—real hardcore punks, for sure. 😁

It would have been nice, though, if the venue wasn't the kind of place where they only serve heavy stouts. I've never really been a fan of dark beer. 😢

Come on now, let's call it what it actually is: "urban music."

I tried watching Gustafi while sober, but I ended up walking away after the second thing.

It’s likely that my approach was just off 😬

dude, you're so gay 😬

But seriously, I felt okay about it, nothing too crazy. The B52s were fantastic, but the rest of the set felt a bit too polished, almost overly polite.

I honestly thought that with all those extra instruments, the sound would have been a bit more raw and gritty, like a garage band vibe rather than something so refined.

edit: warpigs 🙂

It’s such a striking sentiment on that poster:

It seems our ears aren't tuned to the same frequency, and frankly, I think mine have the edge here. 😁
I mean, look, to my ears, those compressed tracks and the faded yellow leaves of romance are just the hallmarks of lower bitrates. Even 256kbps can feel a little cramped, though that’s really only noticeable when you hold it up against much higher fidelity. Regardless, my point is simply that 128kbps isn't garbage; it still holds its own and sounds better than any old cassette tape ever could. 🙂

Let's just drop it—there's no need to start acting like hardcore audiophiles. 😬

Kevin Chavez3 said:(this is at a garbage 128 kbps, man!)

Man, what a punk attitude! 😬What’s actually wrong with 128? You can still hear everything you need to hear, and since the files aren't massive, they download without any hassle. It’s really only once you dip below 128 that things start sounding terrible.
Though, I have this friend who doesn't mind that one of her favorite albums, Can's "Ege Bamyasi," is playing at 56 kbps... well, to be fair, with their sound, you might not even notice the quality drop.😁

Are we talking about some old school funk icon? 😬

Since we're bringing up Chick Corea, we really should also mention his band Return to Forever and their album "Where Have I Known You Before." It’s such an intense, heavy brand of fusion jazz. 😁
Better late than never, I guess. It seems some people got a bit worked up because I mentioned Dragaš. Honestly, let’s all just take a breath here. Personally, I find him hilarious, and I actually enjoy messing around with his lyrics and that whole "sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll" obsession he has going on. As for Lollobrigida, I’ve already got the badge and the t-shirt in my collection, so here is one for you 🙂

By the way, LansingDreideiden absolutely rocks. You just have to look past the fact that they're just a bunch of pretentious, artsy kids from New York, and if you focus on how incredibly talented they are, everything falls into place.
Douglas Robinson12 said:I don't mind Lollobrigide for a club set, but they just seem to lack depth in their songwriting. It’s a similar issue with bands like the Libertines, for instance; they struggle to find enough standout tracks.

That doesn't stop Dragaš from being a huge fan of both groups, though. 😁
I can't help but wonder what specifically draws him to Lollobrigide in the first place.

Best movie title ever? in Movies ·
songs from the second floor

It features some truly incredible lines:

Beloved be the unknown man and his wife.
My fellow man with sleeves, neck and eyes!

Beloved be the one who sleeps on his back.
The one who wears a torn shoe in the rain.

Beloved be the bald man without hat.
The one who catches a finger in a door.

Beloved be the one who sweats out of pain or out of shame.
The one who pays with what he does not have...

Beloved be the one who sits down.

And it just keeps going like that...

The movie itself is a masterpiece, so there you have it.

Alright, you've got me a bit spooked here.

But seriously, if a thread gets shut down the moment someone brings up Hitler, what happens when someone mentions the Hitler Youth? Does the whole process just reset from scratch?🤔

Carol Jackson45 said:Valabi What exactly is that—some kind of animal? Anyway, I’m heading out to grab some groceries... though you’re clearly the one doing all the heavy lifting, lugging those bags all the way from Whole Foods back to the apartment. 🙂

Nicholas King62 is basically one of those creatures you only see in nature documentaries dubbed with weird subtitles. It’s like they belong in some strange, televised ecosystem rather than the real world.

Where can I find the nearest supermarket around here? 🤔 Are you actually aware that we’re both going to have to pick up the slack and handle the heavy lifting ourselves?

amberfalcon172 said:The drummer is honestly just terrible. 🙂

I think I might have spotted you over there as well. 🤔
A friend of mine was just venting to me about his drummer, complaining that the guy doesn't play any fills at all. It’s one of those things where the rhythm stays steady, sure, but without those transitions between sections, the whole song feels like it's just stalling instead of moving forward. 😁
I’ve reached a point where I find myself leaning toward benevolence. To be fair, they aren't completely clueless. If they put in a significant amount of practice and actually sit down to write a massive volume of songs, there might be some real potential there eventually. That is, assuming they can somehow figure out how to bring some actual energy to the stage in the meantime. As it stands now, the whole performance felt a bit like a high school talent show.
