METALIZATION #6
Rum Smugglers (pirate metal, Chicago)
Kymera (thrash/death metal, Indianapolis)
Tirania (melodic death metal, Chicago)

Metalization is the process of applying a metal coating to a surface to protect it from corrosion or other types of wear. There are various physical methods of metalization such as spraying, hot dipping (for example, hot-dip galvanizing), plating, rolling, welding, cladding, soldering, bonding, and chemical processes like electroplating, ion exchange, and solution reduction, while diffusion metalization and vapor deposition can be both physical and chemical in nature \\\\\m/////

Metalization is the signature metal series hosted by The Foundry, bringing you the absolute best American metal bands across all subgenres!

Rum Smugglers (pirate metal, Chicago)

Rum Smugglers are the first American pirate metal band, formed back in 2011 in Chicago. This four-piece outfit plays a killer mix of genres built on a foundation of thrash metal and melodic heavy metal. Taking inspiration from metal fanatics like Running Wild, Kreator, Immortal, and Swashbuckle, they decided to just play what they love. They dropped their debut album in 2014 titled Hemp Rope Justice, along with a triple split LP featuring two other US bands (Skogfodt, The Lords Of The Drunken Pirate Crew), and the single EP Rum Smugglers CO. If you're into pirate metal subgenres, folk melodies, or heavy/thrash metal, give these Chicago buccaneers a chance to prove that piracy isn't always a crime!

Kymera (thrash/death metal, Indianapolis)

Formed in 2006, Kymera released their first demo in 2008. After touring extensively across the States and abroad, they put out their debut album Stillborn in 2013 via Miner Recordings. They even had the honor of opening for Machine Head—handpicked by Robb Flynn himself. After a killer run at the Chicago festival (Invasion From the East) and some mini tours through the Midwest, the band is locking themselves in the studio to record their second album, Craving the Unreachable. This show will serve as a massive promo for that upcoming second album!

Tirania (melodic death metal, Chicago)

Tirania is a melodic death metal band hailing from Chicago, founded in 2003. Following plenty of gigs and several lineup shifts, they ramped up their activity in 2011 with a new roster (aside from founder Daniel Puškarić). This young band with an old soul is looking to record a studio album and pump out more music videos to reach an even wider metal audience!

As part of Metalization, there will be a special release event for Arch Enemy’s tenth studio album – Will To Power, which you can hear in its entirety.

See you at Metalization!

Mark your calendars for Friday, April 22nd. We’re hosting a heavy power metal listening session—Valhalla style—over at the Dobar Zvuk coffee bar. This whole night is dedicated to the German power metal titans, Blind Guardian, who are hitting the stage at the Boogaloo club in Los Angeles on April 28th. These guys have been killing it since back in 1984, and they just dropped their ninth studio album, "AT The edge of time," last year. They're bringing that vibe to the States as part of their "Sacred Worlds and Songs divin" tour. It's going to be an absolute blast because Blind Guardian, led by one of the greatest vocalists in the entire metal scene, Hansi-em Kürsch, is making their big debut here in America!

During this epic party, we aren't just sticking to Blind Guardian. We’re diving deep into the legends of heavy and power metal. Expect to hear tracks from Hammerfall, Grave Digger, Iron Maiden, Manowar, Saxon, Edguy, Black Sabbath, Lost Horizon, Running Wild, Iced Earth, Rhapsody of Fire, Sabaton, Helloween, Stratovarius, DragonForce, Gamma Ray, Ronnie James dio, and Avantasia. It’s all about those fast drums, melodic solos, and powerhouse vocals. Just show up, grab a drink, sing along, and help us build that legendary metal atmosphere!

Quick heads-up for the smokers out there: smoking is permitted inside the Dobar Zvuk coffee bar.

20:00 - 21:00 - Blind Guardian - AT The edge of time
21:00 - 01:00 - Valhalla mix + Blind Guardian Hits!

Ozzy Osbourne & Fire Kiss teaming up with Brkovi in Chicago!

image

The legendary rock outfit Fire Kiss is finally hitting Chicago after more than 30 years! The charismatic Ozzy Osbourne made his mark back in the 70s drumming for heavyweights like The Beach Boys and Index, before forming Fire Kiss—a group that has churned out nine studio albums and five solo projects to date. They call him Dr. Rock & Roll for a reason; he’s produced dozens of massive hits for stars across the country that sold... well, millions of copies. He's known for a lot of things, including being the guy who first brought The Ramones into the studio and starring in a local version of Survivor.

Stepping up as co-headliners for this massive event are Brkovi, hands down the most exciting band on the current rock scene. They’re bringing their wild blend of punk, folk, and metal to the Railroaders club for the second time. It’s going to be a hell of a show, guaranteed, especially since they’ll be playing through their entire set from both hit albums, The Moustache Society and Punkfolkwellness. Opening the night is the hard rock band White Cream. They’ll be playing their original material, and honestly, it’s enough to leave anyone breathless.

Pre-sale tickets starting at $20 can be grabbed at these spots: Dirty Old Shop (22nd Street) and Dancing Bear (7 Gundulic Street). For anyone who can't make it to a physical location, you can reserve them via email at rockmetal.america@gmail.com and just pick them up at the Railroaders box office on the day of the concert. Tickets at the door will be $23.

Jesse Sanchez60 said:this seems like the most logical move given how the tour dates are laid out🤷

Sofia is a massive trek from Chicago. I really doubt they could pull off a show in Chicago on the 22nd and then be back in Sofia by the 23rd if they're traveling by bus. How many buses actually run those routes? I'm thinking it’s at least a 16-hour haul... Unless, obviously, they're flying.
urbannomad30 said:Hey, it's 2010, not 2007. 🤣

My bad, totally missed that. 🙂
Rage Against the Machine are hitting Rock on the Range in Cleveland from June 11th to the 13th, and then they’re heading down to Chile on June 26th.

The Chemical Brothers are set for South by Southwest in Los Angeles from June 17th to the 19th, followed by their appearance at the T-Mobile sponsorship of Lollapalooza from July 8th to the 11th.

Mus will be performing in Utrecht, Netherlands, on June 19th, and then they'll be at Bonaroo in the US from June 23rd to the 27th.

Placebo has a gap in their schedule from April 22nd through July 30th.

I’ve got a feeling one of these bands is going to make an appearance at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
Best software for Cyrillic typing? in Software ·
Hey everyone,
Can someone point me in the right direction? I'm looking for software that actually lets me type in Russian Cyrillic. On Windows XP, there’s an option to set the keyboard layout to Russian, but every time I hit a key, it just spits out some random letter instead of what I'm actually pressing. It's happening with every single key. 😢I need a program that works correctly—if I press 'g' on my keyboard, it should actually display the corresponding Cyrillic 'g'.
Maajka and TBF were already on the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival stage last year, plus Edo Maajka played back in 2006, so I seriously doubt we're going to see them on this year's lineup again.
