Mhm... so we end up stuck because moving to another county is off the table, and now they're just making a thing about wearing masks in enclosed spaces. Total repression and terror, honestly.
Jesse Flores842 said:Wait, what do you mean they aren't looking? If someone tests positive, the protocol is clear: per the CDC guidelines, they are supposed to list everyone they've been in contact with starting from when symptoms appeared and going back two days. Then, the officials tell them to provide the phone numbers and Social Security numbers of those contacts—and then actually *task* the patient with notifying those people about their isolation period (which, frankly, feels like we're putting all the work on the patient, but hey... here we are...).
Nobody actually does that anymore. I'm literally in quarantine right now—we reported ourselves and our household because we were contacts, mostly because nobody else is doing half as much as they should. As for the other people who were exposed, nobody called them either. I've been hearing from plenty of people over the last few months that they never even got notified about needing to isolate; people just report their own families and that's pretty much it. If they even bother with that.
No infections, nothing with allergies, and thank God—no tumors. I’ve got stress, sure, and maybe too much physical work, plus yeah... I smoke. Meds? Taking some Xanax, Ativan, and maybe some Prozac... honestly, I'm done Googling this stuff. It makes me sick. I've been dealing with this endless cycle of garbage since February.
Got my referral for the hematologist, though my doctor thinks my white blood cell count might just be spiked from the meds I’m on—I've been on Lexapro for over a year, plus Misart and Emanera for about two months now. My liver tests were totally fine back when I checked last month, though. I'm also dealing with some weird discharge and occasional spotting down there again. My OB-GYN basically brushed me off when I asked for an ultrasound, swabs, or a Pap, so I'm just heading to a private clinic on September 5th for a colposcopy and a Pap smear. I'm wondering if anything going on there could actually be causing those high white cells? My CRP is normal... I am a smoker, but I haven't really had issues with high white counts before, unless I was coming down with a virus.
Yeah, just a little bit—but it's been about a month now. My lymph nodes under my armpits were reactive, though the left one seems fine again (at least as of yesterday). The doctor is still keeping an eye on the right one, but she says since it's movable, it's probably nothing
Honestly, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for them to say anything useful. I mean, could it be something like a vaginal infection? Or maybe some HPV flare-up?
Sorry if this topic already exists—I couldn't find it. My white blood cell count was 10.3 back in July. Two weeks ago it was 10, which is fine (some other values are hovering near the upper limit), and today it’s back at 10.3. I had a breast biopsy two weeks ago—everything came back clean. I haven't been sick or dealing with even a sniffle since May. Back in April, I had a procedure to remove CIN II—I have HPV. I have a follow-up coming up soon. Does anyone have experience with this, or maybe know why my WBC might stay slightly elevated for this long? What could it actually mean? My doctor wants me to come in tomorrow to talk about it. It's not that anything bad has been said yet, but this waiting... it's driving me absolutely insane.
Can anyone who knows their stuff tell me if chronic pharyngitis caused by reflux can keep my white blood cell count elevated for a while? I had some blood work done just under a month ago—leukocytes were at 10.3, CRP was fine. Just did more tests today along with a CBC (dealing with a breast cyst and some reactive lymph nodes), and the doctor said everything looks okay, except my leukocytes are slightly high again (around 10)? I’m not even sick—no viruses, no runny nose, nothing. It's just this reflux thing causing throat inflammation—I'm not sure if it's flared up right now, but it's been going on for a while, and I've only been treating it for about a month.
Seriously, this pregnancy has me totally floored all over again by how much of a klutz I can actually be 🤷—honestly, I’m just counting down the days until I give birth so I can finally stop being a walking hazard to myself and everyone else 🙄

They don't carry the same level of moral responsibility as those two, sure, but they still share a portion of it. It seems you're reading and interpreting things however you please. Saying "all three" doesn't necessarily mean they all bear an identical burden of responsibility—which wouldn't be realistic anyway—nor did I ever claim that. We aren't in a math class where if you divide three apples among three people, everyone gets an identical fruit.
Yes, a ten-year-old needs to understand certain things and learn how to conduct themselves. As I mentioned, today it might be a teacher, tomorrow it will be someone else, and the day after that, a third party offering them money. It could be an adult or just a kid from their class. And is the expectation that they should just accept everything because they're an "incapable ten-year-old"? Honestly... really?
Do you think I didn't find myself in similar situations as a child, perhaps offering unsolicited advice? I certainly didn't think to pile debt onto my mother, simply because I knew that money was something she had to pay back, not something she could afford to lose...
That is simply part of the life of a child whose parents are struggling financially, and it is up to them to recognize boundaries—to know when they've crossed the line with $7.00 and a Happy Meal. One needs to have a conversation with the child. There will always be someone willing to offer them cash when their mother won't, or won't provide "enough." Maybe one person offers enough for small popcorn at the movies and a juice box, while someone else offers a Pepsi and a large popcorn. To avoid being an outcast, the child buys the larger items, and then Mom ends up complaining about what some other kid gave him $5.00 and demanding the money back.
What is the ultimate goal here? To place the blame solely on the teacher? Or next time, solely on the other kid? No... we need to teach children not to accept money, or at least to practice a bit of modesty. It isn't that difficult. One can eat a burger without needing a Happy Meal.
You don't need to be fifteen to be more modest than this individual.
If this is the first time the OP has dealt with this kind of issue, I hope she sits the little guy down and explains exactly what you wrote here. If he’s old enough to have his head filled with stupid stuff like "not having a family," then he's old enough to be taught common sense about not taking money that Mom can't or won't pay back.
I wasn't judging at all—honestly, your voice is the first one I've heard to suggest people don't snack in theaters ☕ I haven't been in forever, but in my head, it's always just movie snacks, popcorn, peanuts... 🤔 And since people *definitely* snack in theaters—and your little guy was just there recently—I was curious about how you usually handle outings like that with the school...
Maybe try actually reading the threads you're shutting down before dropping those kinds of takes. Like, the idea that it's just Red Bull and pregnant women? Please. If it were all about vibrators and 😍, people would have stopped downloading PDFs ages ago. You’d be surprised how much regular parents can actually hold a conversation too 🙄
Get rid of the only thread about pregnancy where people post photos—meanwhile, over in the fashion section (if I got the name right), there’s an endless stream of picture-dumping threads like: "fashion critiques for our brave ladies!", "challenges for our bold users," "shoe pics," "the big fashion critique mega-thread," or "what are you wearing today?"—where everyone just posts shots of random influencers... yet you guys make such a huge deal out of a topic where a bunch of moms were just sharing their memories... does anyone even get what I'm saying here? And what's the deal with punishing people just for asking why someone got banned? 😕 Since when is asking about moderator overreach considered a crime? 🤔 I'm with you on one thing—this place needs a cleanup, but if you keep going down this path, you're just gonna end up clearing out the actual regulars who actually type stuff here. 👎
It just drives me crazy knowing I’m gonna be stuck dealing with this same headache at every single checkup. Like, why can't they see this? Why isn't that visible now? Why is this measuring 6mm instead of 8.5mm? 🙂 Honestly, screw all this "instant access to information" in the 21st century and my own damn ignorance. 😠
George White7 said:What’s the checklist for opening a checking account at Chase, and how long does the whole process take? Do I need to be 18? If so, can I have a legal guardian manage things until I hit adulthood, and then just get my own debit card once I'm of age? Thanks
if you're a minor, you'll need a legal guardian to manage the account for you—basically, you won't be able to walk in and pull cash or use your own card yet. if your mom or dad is acting as your guardian, they'll need to bring their birth certificate and a photo ID. plus, if they don't already have an account there, they'll need their Social Security number and some other basic ID info.
