Is it just me, or does it feel like every single sports team is perpetually stuck in this loop of "emergency mode"? You spend all off-season dreaming about a championship run, only for a few bad breaks to leave the roster looking like a hospital ward by mid-season.
I was watching a game last night and it hit me how much fans are expected to just shrug our shoulders when the "next big thing" goes down. We get these lists of names—players we've never heard of—and suddenly we're told these are the "solutions" to everything. It feels less like building a team and more like playing a frantic game of whack-a-mole with injuries.
I love the optimism, I really do. But sometimes I wonder if the obsession with finding a quick fix through trades just masks the fact that the foundation is shaky to begin with. Do you think teams are getting too reliant on these mid-season "fixes" instead of just building actual depth?
My last two trips for that kind of thing—both wedding shopping hauls—were at Nordstrom and Macy's. Once you step inside those stores downstairs, you can actually find just about anything, and they actually carry decent sizes too. Also, take a look at Banana Republic; people tend to overlook them, but the selection and sizing are surprisingly solid. My only hesitation there is how formal their collection goes—I haven't specifically hunted for high-end evening wear there yet. All this is for shopping in Chicago, obviously.🙂
I also stumbled upon some pretty lovely dresses at H&M. Not for a formal wedding, sure, but for things like a funeral or a "let's dress up for our anniversary" kind of vibe? Definitely.
It caught me off guard that it’s essentially a musical, but I breezed right past that—it’s a fantastic film 👍. The casting for the lead is spot on, and the costume design and soundtrack (obviously) are top-tier 😬.
If we're putting this up against Bohemian Rhapsody, I actually prefer this one; the character arcs and relationship dynamics actually make sense—for instance, 😁.
Look, Müller—I’ve been picking them up there for a few winters running now. I’ve got a photo of the ones that actually work for me; the label says: moveup damen viskose strumphose 😁. Then there’s the Golden Lady Thermo Sensation—they’re a bit thicker, sure, but they’re fantastic.
Nathan Wood80 said:Tamaris carries that specific line with the wide strap—distinctive, really. I picked up a pair in Graz a few years back, though I haven't the slightest clue if they even stock that particular model here at home.
Fair point—completely blanked on Tamaris. I actually grabbed a pair of theirs last year at the Borov outlet.
That’s exactly what I was thinking—I wasn't even going to mention it, but I have to say, I'm surprised. They probably have up to a size 48 since that's what I ended up grabbing (for context, I'm a size 42 at Peek, so I assume the sizing at Importanne is a bit off 🤔). But I had to ask a friend to grab it for me, since they didn't have anything out on display 😬.
Well, this should cover what you need 🤔. I hit up a wedding a few weeks back and picked up my dress at an Importante—you know, one of those tacky little boutiques 😬. Before that, I grabbed a wedding outfit from Peek & Clopenburg. For my everyday basics? It’s just H&M, C&A, Mango, or Terranova.
I’m a bit smaller than you—standing at 5'5"—but we share the exact same critical flaws 😬. I tend to gravitate toward classic A-line dresses and skirts with varying degrees of fullness. Though, it really depends on your specific build; despite everything, I still have a defined waist, so those styles work for me since they cinch there before skimming over the midsection.
Power Rangers meet Transformers. It lacks even a shred of the spirit or character found in the original. Some actors are playing recycled roles—except they’ve been stripped down to mere caricatures. The Jaegers still look great, and that pilot synchronization—the way they move together—is (still) cool 😎. As for the lead male pilots? Zero charisma. Their backstories are cliché—actually, they don't even have backstories. They aren't even eye candy 🥱. Honestly, if they had died, I wouldn't have cared . The whole thing is saved by a bunch of teenagers, though it’s all pretty ridiculous—they didn't mention if any of the kids were gay, but other than that, they checked off every possible PC demographic imaginable... And of course, the ending teases a third installment because, obviously, Hollywood won't stop milking a franchise until there's nothing left to squeeze out .
On a positive note, I was forced to visit an AMC Theatres that I can't remember ever stepping foot in. The theater is small, but the seats are comfortable and there’s actually decent legroom—more room in the seats and in the aisles compared to what you get at Regal Cinemas. There were only a few trailers, so the movie started promptly when it was supposed to. Plus, the popcorn isn't made of styrofoam! Not that I'll be making this a regular haunt, but at least I'll keep it in mind as an option. Thanks, Regal Cinemas 🍿.
I was honestly lost during 😬. When the tension started ramping up, I just looked at my mom and admitted I had no clue what was happening 😁. After doing a quick Google search, it finally clicked—it’s essentially a BDSM dynamic. She controls every single facet of her professional life so intensely that, in her private life, she actually craves leadership and surrender. That realization made everything fall into place 😬.
It’s a fascinating film—definitely one where you expect one thing and end up with something entirely different 👍.
I was asking about bras recently—just putting this out there in case anyone else needs the scoop. That boutique on Juraj Žužec has some gorgeous 👍, though they are definitely on the pricier side 😬. I was obsessing over one specific model—thick straps, really comfortable fit—but since I wanted to pick up two pairs this year, buying that one would have basically nuked my entire budget 😢. So, I ended up heading over to Nordstrom instead. They have a massive selection—Triumph, Pletix, Lisca, you name it—plus plenty of sizes and an actual wall dedicated to bras where you can mix and match separates (tops and bottoms sold individually).
Oh, and if I caught that right, they carry shapewear too, though I can't say for certain since I wasn't looking for it today 😁.
Bikinis? Is the material actually decent? I'm looking for a two-piece—nothing fancy with a high waist, just a standard cut. 😬 I need to try them on first; ordering online is out of the question. I’m a size 12 or 14 🤔.
Someone mentioned Kik in the bikini thread—anyone actually used them? None of their locations are convenient, so I don't want to make a wasted trip. I picked one up at a Target clearance sale last year; the fit was great, but let me tell you, that fabric takes forever to dry.
I watched it too 😳. Honestly, it was actually fun—way more than I expected 🎉. I wasn't exactly a die-hard fan of the series growing up, though I tuned in occasionally, so I knew the drill. It turned out to be a really solid balance—think teenage drama mixed with superpowers. It isn't perfect, but it’s a good 👍.
In my head, I keep comparing it to the new Fantastic Four, and if we're talking about teenagers suddenly gaining powers, this one is infinitely better 😬.
Jack Murphy5 said:I have to agree. I went in expecting typical Oscar bait, but I walked away with something much different, and frankly, much better.
Natalie Portman is brilliant. Even if her accent feels a little forced at first, you get used to it quickly. Both the score and the cinematography are top-tier.
Yeah, totally—when I saw the trailer, I was genuinely sitting there thinking, "What on earth is this?" But once I actually sat down and watched the movie? That feeling vanished within minutes.
I agree that this movie was clearly engineered for Natalie Portman winning an Oscar—but honestly, I don't mind. The pacing is a bit disjointed and it drags in places—too long, if you ask me—but she had a specific goal in mind. She wanted to depict a massive funeral and craft a lasting myth, and she pulled it off. I actually dig the behind-the-scenes look at the First Lady—even if she wasn't exactly perfect. My friend, who I watched it with, absolutely hated it; he thinks certain things simply shouldn't be shown. So, yeah—everyone’s got their own taste. 😬.
Intriguing plot. It would have been just as compelling if it had focused on any women at all—but then again, it wouldn't have swept the Oscar nominations 🙂. I went down a rabbit hole reading up on the actual history behind the film; most of it holds water, but the achievements are inflated, the hardships are exaggerated, the timelines are shifted, and certain events are blown way out of proportion—basically, it's all cinematic fluff 😬. Still, it’s an entertaining kind of fluff. I’ve always had a soft spot for movies like this.
Rachel Young3 said:It’s blatantly obvious this was adapted straight from a stage play. The whole thing is just a series of endless monologues from Denzel Washington about various topics ... The rest of the cast? They’re basically just props used to provide an audience for his lecturing.
I trimmed some of it down, but that’s my take. He just talks—and talks—and talks. He acts like he’s the smartest guy in the room, but there’s zero substance. His wife just stands there supporting him, defending him, and staying by his side at the end 😵. There are no lessons here, no actual takeaways—just watch me act self-righteous, watch how hard life is, watch how unfair (white) people can be, listen to me, and realize that I—despite being a thief, a killer, and an unfaithful husband—am somehow the moral compass. This entire movie is screaming, "Give me an Oscar." I didn't turn it off, but man, it was a struggle to sit through until the credits rolled.
Actually, I just realized there *is* a lesson here: it's similar to the parable of the prodigal son. No matter what wrong you commit, there will always be some fool out there willing to forgive you.
Back when I actually wore jeans—years ago—my mom used to handle the repairs with internal patches. But I wasn't sitting around like some couch potato, so I really didn't care if the fix was visible 😬. Basically, she’d cover the hole from the inside using matching fabric and then somehow force the frayed edges to 🤔—I can't quite explain the mechanics since I don't sew 😁.
I was absolutely floored by this movie 🕺. The plot, the dialogue, the characters—everything worked. I spent days looping the end credits song on YouTube. Honestly? Probably the best film I’ve seen all year.
My take is that extremes are never the answer. Just as modern parenting can go too far toward being neglectful, the radical approach taken here—where pancakes become a reward for a first kiss—is just as broken. It boils down to two things: a) you have to find balance in life, and b) people simply aren't putting enough effort into raising and educating their kids. That's my two cents 😬.
