The books—especially the first one—are solid. I’d go as far as saying the first installment is excellent 👍. But once they board the ship? Once they arrive? That’s where the book and the movie diverge massively.
It felt like they couldn't decide if they wanted an original dark fairy tale where evil stepsisters actually hack off limbs or some sanitized Disney version 🤷. In the first half, the monsters are eye-gouging nightmares that seem practically unkillable—but then in the second half, we’re suddenly fighting them off with candy? (wtf? 🙂). They drop like flies. The big bad villain that the grandfather has been hunting for decades gets taken down in seconds—and apparently, there's enough time in the middle of that fight to crack jokes about needing a mint? 🤦.
I will say, I dig the cast (Eva 😍, Ava 🙂) and the first part of the film is solid while we're getting introduced to the Peculiars. The second part? No. No way. Absolutely not.
The last few times I’ve been at AMC Theatres, I’ve noticed they translated "Yes madam" as "Da madam" 😵. Like someone else mentioned, I don't need subtitles for English, but seeing stuff like this is just an eyesore.

PBS used to have decent translations; they actually understood the tone of what was being said. Now, I don't know, since I don't really watch TV much anymore. But FOX and the other networks have always been pretty awful at it.
I think that’s where the issue lies. Because the market isn't huge, they produce one translation intended for the entire region, and you just end up with whatever mediocre result they can scrape together.
I remember—I actually wrote the word down after leaving the theater so I could look it up on Google Translate later because I had no clue what it meant...
I bought these back in 2014 and this year—I'm fairly certain you won't find a better price than this🙂. It's a massive one, though there's also a small version available from the same seller .
I'm buying this. One package lasts me two summers without any issues—I grab the large one for home and a small one for my purse to touch things up on the go. Thanks to this, I don't have to worry about messing up my skirts or dresses 🙏. I'm not sure if you can find anything like this in local shops here, so I just get mine on eBay.
The trailer didn't grab me—honestly, everything I read about Steve Jobs and this movie just made him seem unlikable, which left me with zero interest in watching it. But. I actually liked the film. The decision to split it into three distinct acts worked, and I appreciated that the narrative stayed focused on the same core group of people. Plus, we actually get some answers to certain questions—not all of them, mind you, but enough—even though I was convinced right up until the end that we wouldn't.
Michael Fassbender was absolutely stellar. Kate was great too, though he definitely carried more of the weight 😁.
😍 Honestly, I loved this movie. It was just so 😍. I’m still a complete wreck, to be honest. I only sat down to watch it because—well, it’s an Oscar contender—so I wasn't expecting much, but man, did it deliver. It’s a slice-of-life story—really grounded, really real. But for me, it was the romance that truly hooked me. I got so swept up in it, cared so much about the characters, that I actually rewound the final scene three times just to experience it again. It’s a beautiful film, truly 🕺.
Saoirse is wonderful; her performance was absolutely stellar.
I liked the movie—not quite on the level of The King's Speech, but enough that I found myself Googling facts just to see what actually happened after the credits rolled. Alicia was fantastic; she far outshone Eddie in my eyes. I didn't get the sense he was overacting at all—in fact, I actually had to squint to catch that supposed stuttering 🤷. But her emotional delivery? Completely natural. Honestly, I found myself more invested in her side of the conversation than his.
Also, the costume design was top-notch. I thoroughly enjoyed the visuals of the wardrobe 😁.
I really enjoyed 👍—watching Tom Hanks is always such a treat for me. I was worried it might be too dense to follow, but it wasn't complicated at all; honestly, it was just genuinely engaging.
I’m a huge fan of the superhero genre—really hoping it doesn't burn out anytime soon 😳. My absolute favorites have to be Guardians of the Galaxy 😍, though I’ve voted for plenty of others; it seems I lean toward Marvel more than DC, with the honorable exception of Burton's Batman 🤔. Oh, I just looked it up—The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is actually DC, and honestly, that movie is great 🕺.

I don't know the history behind the sequels, but it feels like once the first book blew up, the author just rushed through the rest without having a clear vision of the endgame, basically making it up as they went along.
Anyway, back to the movie—after leaving the theater (and from a purely financial standpoint, it’s definitely not worth a cinema ticket) I sat there wondering what I just watched. My summary? Run, stop, danger, run, stop, danger, run, stop, danger, run, etc. Meh, I wasn't a fan 🙂.

This time, I did some digging through American blogs and picked up the standard blue stick meant for athletes—it was actually cheaper than the pink "feminine" one.😁 Turns out, they are identical. I have a massive soft spot for American sports dramas 😳. This one was absolutely top-tier 😍. Once you realize how the movie is structured, you already know the underdog team spirit is going to carry the day in the end—but honestly, it doesn't matter. It was a blast to watch regardless. I was stressed, cheering my head off, and practically on the verge of tears at points. Truly an excellent 👍 in its genre.
Just watched it—pretty decent 🙂. Nothing groundbreaking, really—just your standard formula of realization, redemption, a massive curveball, and then a happy ending 🤔. Still, it was an enjoyable watch. Having so much John Lennon in the soundtrack was a great touch 😍.
I just finished reading the entire series fairly recently, so I’ve been knocking out the movies back-to-back—watched the first, then the second, and now finally the third. They definitely watered down the whole PTSD crisis that she and Finnick are dealing with compared to the books, but there's still enough there to realize they're struggling. I actually enjoyed the political subplot too—it felt a bit heavy-handed in the book, but works here. Overall, it's a really solid adaptation, which—let's be honest—isn't exactly common. Looking forward to Part 4; I'll hopefully catch that one in the theater. 😁.-
