So, what exactly has Williams brought to the table lately? With that stunning—yet surprisingly unsuccessful—setup they've introduced? 👋FW26?

What does hydraulics have to do with the joint?
And even when Williams brought in hydraulics, everyone else stuck with the standard ones because they were 100% reliable (though I don't recall a single time where Williams was left hanging in mid-air or sitting on the ground when they shouldn't have been).

I’m talking about the joint that allows the mechanic to step away from the car while it's still elevated, letting them pull the jack away without having to scramble out of the way first.😉

Or maybe not.

Just like how Ferrari fans don't go around lifting cars while standing on the sidelines. 😉

Bokić. ☕

Nobody lifts them while standing to the side; they just lower them down. ☕

Did anyone else catch those Ferrari cranes? They’ve actually got this clever little mechanism where the "operator" can just step aside, so the driver isn't stuck sitting there waiting for them to clear out...🙏

hmm, my little betting slip says Red Bull takes the win and Hamilton lands somewhere in the top three 🤣 🤣 👎 lol

My prediction for today's outcome: it's going to be either Felipe Massa or Ante Gumbel, though I find myself personally rooting for Gumbel.🙂

I think this is being misinterpreted.

Exhaust pressure—and flow for that matter—can't stay constant regardless of engine RPM. Those two values are directly proportional.

That’s exactly why rally cars use bang-bang anti-lag systems.

It seems pretty obvious they've tweaked the engine mapping so it can be
maybe not identical, but perhaps higher than usual, providing extra downforce at lower RPMs or while cornering 🙂
or maybe they just maintain a lower speed with higher RPMs through the turns to compensate.

But then again, much like Red Bull, that kind of setup is usually reserved for qualifying so the engine doesn't blow up prematurely, wouldn't you agree? 🤣🤣🤣

Maria Nelson2 said:That’s exactly why they dragged their feet on those engine "tweaks"—it wasn't about needing more horsepower 😁 , it was about fixing that exhaust pressure issue at the same time 🤣 Bingo...

They actually gained that pressure through engine mapping, which is really just a software adjustment 😉

Seriously, it felt like they stuffed them full of every spicy seasoning from India to Mexico. You're basically just spitting fire afterward.

That’s exactly why you need a cold beer to wash it all down. 😉
It’s not just any heat, either; it’s that crazy spicy stuff you find at Oktoberfest.

In the spirit of German racing, we should probably just host a massive watch party, order a mountain of bratwurst, and stock the fridge with plenty of cold beer

Are you suggesting that there's a constant exhaust pressure being maintained, regardless of how high the engine RPM actually climbs?
Does anyone else feel like the blown diffuser is essentially receiving a constant, steady stream of gases? It seems to maintain its efficiency regardless of where we are on the track. Wouldn't it be interesting if that airflow remained perfectly consistent through every turn?

That one on the far right actually reminds me of a colleague from my old office; a few years back, we even put this photo on our team calendar. 🙂 🙏 🙏

Fair enough, I get that, but at least try to avoid those "notorious" motorsport tracker sites, 🙂

I had to sit out because of a recent surgery, but from what I've been reading, it sounds like quite the spectacle... if anyone happens to have a link where I could catch up on the action, please let me know. 👍

You can find it on just about any decent torrent tracker. 😉
Just head over to somewhere like The Pirate Bay and search for "British Grand Prix 2010" 😉

Arthur Doyle70 said:Listen, it all feels a bit overcomplicated, doesn't it? I can't help but wonder—did Williams even bother testing that system in an F1 car?🤷

As far as I can tell, not really. It’s nothing complicated, is it?
So, I’ve been chewing on this concept lately—the idea of mounting an electric motor/generator directly onto the shaft, with the wiring running straight to a flywheel that houses its own identical motor/generator setup. It’s one of those technical puzzles that seems simple on paper but really makes you wonder about the practicalities once you start digging in. I mean, isn't there something almost poetic about that kind of closed-loop symmetry? You have the power generation and the mechanical load essentially dancing around each other on the same axis. But then, of course, you hit those inevitable engineering hurdles. How would you manage the heat dissipation in such a tight configuration? And what about the sheer complexity of the wiring? It’s a fascinating thought experiment, really. Does anyone else find themselves spiraling down these kinds of mechanical rabbit holes?

It’s all pretty much the same as any other KERS setup you'd see out there, really. The only real difference is that instead of relying on batteries, they're using a flywheel system to get the job done. Is it more efficient? Who knows, but it certainly changes the dynamic.

The real issue with a gearbox is that, unlike a battery pack, you don't exactly have the luxury of deciding where it goes. You can't just spread the weight around wherever it suits your design best, can you? It’s a fixed piece of hardware that dictates the layout, rather than something you can distribute strategically like you would with cells in a battery. 🙂

Arthur Doyle70 said:It honestly feels like everything is going to shift next year. I have this nagging suspicion that once they get the KERS technology dialed in, it’s going to cause absolute chaos on the track. Don't you think? It feels like we're just waiting for the storm to break. 🤣🤣 It’s not necessarily about how good he is on his own, or even how the rest of the crew is performing. 😁 I mean, let's be honest—wasn't Mercedes really the one who cracked the code on the best KERS system last year? It makes you wonder how anyone else is supposed to catch up when they've got that kind of technical edge.

I just can't seem to get a handle on this whole Williams resurgence in F1... It feels like I'm waiting for a breakthrough that just keeps staying out of reach. Is it just me, or does it feel like we're constantly hovering right on the edge of something big without ever quite breaking through?☕

It seems a bit excessive to be running with a fuel tank that large, doesn't it? It just feels like it's overkill given the capacity.

If I had to place a bet, I’d say the heavy hitters will be McLaren, Ferrari, Renault, and Williams—though I wouldn't necessarily put them in that specific order. It feels like anything could happen. Honestly, I can't help but wonder if the introduction of KERS might end up completely throwing the rest of the grid into chaos? It seems like just the kind of variable that could shake everything up. 🤷

It really is a shame, isn't it? You have to wonder why Williams can't just integrate their own KERS technology directly into the car instead of being forced to go out and buy it from someone else. It feels like such a missed opportunity for them to build something proprietary, doesn't it? 😢
Given what we saw with the performance of the Porsche hybrid, don't you think they'd absolutely sweep the competition? 😉
