Does anyone know who can issue a prescription for my chronic medication if my primary care doctor's office is closed tomorrow? I only realized last night that I'm completely out of my blood pressure meds, and now I'm stuck wondering who can actually write me a script. I'm based in NYC.
Keith Gonzalez said:It’s a description of what was actually felt during the exam. Literally. There's a palpable mass (or perhaps several), and since there's bleeding involved, we have to consider the possibility of a rectal tumor—though right now, it's unclear if it's originating from the bowel itself or if something external is pressing against it. Bottom line: this needs an urgent workup.

Thanks for the response!
Can anyone help me make sense of these urology results?
DRE😛The rectal exam shows irregular resistance all around the circumference upon digital palpation, with contact bleeding.
The prostate itself isn't clearly palpable.
PSA 5.92 high
Diagnosis: suspected rectal neoplasm.

I’ve done some digging, and it looks like they're suspecting a tumor... but that first sentence is still a bit fuzzy to me.
Was it painful?

It’s an 8GB stick of Transcend JetRam DDR4 memory, clocked at 2400MHz. I guess it's just standard PC-19200 stuff.
It’s a 460W unit—an LC POWER Silent Giant GREEN POWER LC6460GP3 V2.3, featuring a 140mm fan.
This is an ASUS H110M-DGS R3 motherboard featuring an Intel Core socket. It’s an mATX board with DDR4 support, USB 3.0, DVI-D, and SATA 3. It also comes equipped with standard G-LAN, PCI-E, and integrated audio.
It looks like an Intel Pentium G4560 box, which is a dual Core setup running at 3.5GHz with a 3MB cache and integrated graphics on the 1151 socket. I guess it's a pretty basic little chip, maybe?
The PCI-E XFX AMD Radeon RX 580 GTS xxx ED features 4GB of DDR5 and comes equipped with HDMI, DVI, and DP ports.

$1431

+ SSD:

Maybe consider an Apacer AS330 Panther Series 120GB SSD. It’s a 2.5" SATA3 drive with speeds up to 495/385 MB/s, and you can find the retail version easily.

$1580

You don't really need any extra cooling; the stock cooler that comes with the processor should be plenty. And honestly, 8GB is more than enough—especially when you're working with this kind of budget and have to put that money toward the RAM. $233.

Thanks a lot for the help!

This build is mostly intended for gaming. What should I look at regarding cooling? Is it actually worth splurging on a liquid cooler, or am I better off just sticking with a standard air cooler with dual fans? Or how does that even work... also, is 8 GB of RAM enough these days?
My son is picking out a new rig right now, so he's doing his due diligence by asking around everywhere.

Hey there,

So, I’m looking to put together a full PC build by $1500. I'll need everything—monitor, case, and hard drive included. I'm planning on picking it up from Best Buy or maybe Micro Center using an installment plan, if that makes any difference...

Does anyone have a recommendation for a decent physical therapy clinic in San Francisco?
I know the top-tier spots are up in Lovran or Opatija, but I really don't feel like making that commute every single day...

I get hit by that every once in a while too—this sudden, uncomfortable chill that settles in, and my teeth start literally chattering...

It’s actually the exact opposite for me; I struggle with high blood pressure, and my doctor just sent me off to get my thyroid checked out...

Unbelievable. I managed to pull it off once, but now it’s just not happening again. It keeps coming up blank! Am I just being an idiot, or what?...

It’s honestly not as bad as I expected. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't say I'm exactly walking on sunshine, but... having gone through three births, I know firsthand that there are much more intense pains out there... so this doesn't feel quite as terrifying. At the end of the day, it all really comes down to the doctor you have in your corner.
Drew Morgan said:That’s terrible. You can't let them get away with it. They drain your energy with all that mindless chatter. They're basically using you as a punching bag.

I used to enjoy meeting strangers and just chatting away, but I've slowly learned how to build a defense. It’s still a struggle, though.

I'm with you on that. All that mindless noise is mentally exhausting, but what choice do we really have? We just have to grit our teeth and endure it for as long as we can...
I absolutely despise people who just won't shut up. I can't stand it—my head starts throbbing from all the mindless chatter! It’s especially draining at the office... If people would just let me focus on my work without all the constant babble, life would be so much easier. Instead, I'm stuck playing nice and faking interest every single day.

Just remember, this slump isn't going to last forever. Since you're an animal lover, maybe consider getting a new dog? It might help take your mind off things—just grab one and go for long walks to clear your head.
It’s completely natural to worry about your brother and your parents, but try not to spiral over things that are fundamentally out of your control.
That said, I don't think any advice from us is going to move the needle much; the shift has to come from within you. Taking Normabel won't fix the underlying issue, and honestly, if you aren't even sleeping, you probably shouldn't be taking it right now. Let it be a fallback option for when things truly hit the fan.
So many people go through exactly what you're experiencing—this heavy, depressive stretch. I really hope you're through the worst of it soon, but you have to be the one to initiate that change. Leave the psychiatrists to their business; they'll just refill your prescriptions and we'll see you again in a month...
Just take it one day at a time, and eventually, you'll realize things are finally starting to look up.

jadehound9 said:How are you all reading this? All of a sudden, my blood pressure hits 140/95... dizziness, panic, this intense pressure in my head, just total brain fog... normally, when I'm stressed, nothing happens to my pressure... absolutely nothing. But this... my EKG came back fine...

That sounds like a textbook case of high blood pressure. It was exactly like that for me at first—your pressure spikes out of nowhere, then the anxiety kicks in, the room starts spinning... for me, my legs started aching terribly. That showed up after I had my baby. The doctors were basically just philosophizing about which medications to use until one day my pressure shot up to 220/125 and I ended up in the ER.
It’s a bit of a misconception that your pressure only jumps when you're feeling nervous. With essential hypertension, they don't actually know the true underlying cause, so they end up making things up a little. Of course, if someone is already prone to hypertension, being exhausted, stressed, or sleep-deprived will cause those numbers to spike...

Honestly, he was probably popping pills like candy. His doctor just kept signing off on whatever he wanted because, frankly, the guy was footing the bill!
The meds, sure, but within reason!
Sam Hall15 said:First of all, there isn't much room for personal opinion here; the laws and regulations are clear. Under these guidelines, a primary care physician or family doctor is not just permitted, but actually required to prescribe antihypertensive therapy...
Regarding this lady's situation, the wisest course of action for now is to stick to the twice-daily medication schedule. If her symptoms become too severe, she should consult her physician to adjust the treatment. However, the readings you mentioned are nowhere near causing hypotension, let alone any kind of symptomatic low blood pressure, as such a condition essentially doesn't exist in cases like this
The worst thing you could do right now—aside from completely stopping the medication—would be to constantly change the treatment protocol or allow for massive fluctuations in blood pressure, which, I must emphasize, is extremely hard on the body...

Well, "Doctor on Duty," what I was trying to say is that a specialist is going to prescribe a much better regimen than a GP once all the tests and workups are actually finished!
