Hormonal Contraception: The Pill [General Discussion] in Women's Health ·
Jamie Thompson2 said:Have any new birth control pills "come out" lately? The last thing I used was Yaz, and honestly, I haven't heard anything since... what are you guys using, if there’s even anything new? Any specific symptoms to watch for? Yaz worked pretty well for me before, but lately, it hasn't been hitting the mark, so I'm thinking about maybe trying something stronger... or just something newer...

In the same ballpark as Yaz, you’ve got Yasmine, Triquilar, Lindynette, and a few others (can't recall the names right now), which are actually what they suggested I look into this coming September.
I went into this thinking a psychiatrist was going to perform some kind of miracle, so the reality check really stung. Eventually, I lowered the bar and just hoped for someone who actually *gets* it, but honestly? They blew it there, too.

My last guy was anything but top-tier. I seriously doubt he even graduated from a decent med school with good grades—if he had, he probably wouldn't be working at a mid-tier private clinic like that. But as for having actual experience or any shred of empathy? Yeah, zero.

After all those bad sessions and feeling like I was just throwing money down the drain, I’m officially done with psychotherapy.
honestly, I think I'm gonna pass on this. I can probably just find whatever I'm looking for right here in the States without dealing with insane shipping fees, customs bullshit, or weird translations 😁
Look, I'm covering the shipping too... that's how we're playing it... but we haven't actually shook on anything until I see what the postage looks like.

Sandra Wells87 said:Honestly, my mood while on Lindinet has been absolutely trashed, and the results are definitely showing... plus, the whole thing with the Gonal-f is just a total side effect, which is clearly stated right there in the manual. All I can say is that these past two months of taking Lindinet have been pure hell, seriously messing with my head, and I’ve felt everything from constant restlessness to this weird state that just doesn't feel like me at all... I really hate it, but I just pushed through and tried to stay positive, though I honestly don't know if these symptoms will finally vanish if I push through a third month, but man, they are just awful, at least for me...

Probably not. Even after four boxes, mine are still doing the same thing. They even show up during my period when I'm not even taking them... you really feel the difference. Those pills are just gross, seriously gross.🙂

I honestly think Lindynette might be a bit too weak to handle everything in just two months. Usually, doctors recommend Diane for PCOS issues..
Quick question..

A girl I know over in Mexico wants to mail me a certified letter with one of her drawings inside.
Any idea what the damage would be for sending a certified letter from Mexico? (I tried digging through their website, but when I actually opened the price list, everything was in Cyrillic 😠).
here’s a link to some info on skin pigmentation issues. take a look and see if any of it actually sounds like that spot you've got 🙂

could be anything, really, but most of the time it turns out to be nothing at all..

Honestly, I’m not sure about the tests either. Pretty sure there’s a thread somewhere on this forum covering that too..

Anthony Watson7 said:Physical intimacy isn't on the table right now since we're long-distance; it won't happen before Christmas.🤣I'm more concerned about whether my cycle will be disrupted by the upcoming volume change. It shouldn't, though. Today, tomorrow, whatever—it’s just part of the routine, right?😁

Well then, just say so.
😬

Anyway, you can start birth control on basically any day. It doesn't have to be the first day of your period, though it might throw your cycle off a little bit..

Now, doctors usually don't recommend that for women who are actually expecting their period soon, regardless of how long their cycle is. But personally, I hadn't had one in like 4 or 5 months, and an ultrasound showed I wasn't due for a while, so I just started whenever I felt like it. Oh joy. 😍 🤣

Honestly, I’ve always been super confused by this too. There were times when I’d get spotting and then my period would show up the very next day, but other times it felt like the actual period started right away. It’s incredibly hard to tell them apart—at least for me. So, my move was just to wait until things actually got moving before taking the pill, and then I’d make sure to use extra protection for those first few days. It really depends on which brand you're on, though; the instructions usually lay it all out for you. 🙂

Look, take a test if you think it’ll give you some peace of mind, but honestly, things usually get a little wonky with your cycle after you stop taking birth control. It’s most likely just your body reacting to quitting the Diane pills... though, let's be real, there's always that lingering chance of pregnancy whenever you're sleeping with your guy without protection—whether it's the pill, an IUD, or whatever else you're using.
Dealing with bad cramps? in Women's Health ·
I’m not sure if I’d call it "normal," or maybe just what’s considered common these days, but honestly, it doesn't seem all that rare either. I know this one girl who basically ended up in the ER every single month needing IV drips and shots just to get through it. And then there was a girl in my class who spent every single cycle stuck at home, dealing with constant vomiting and back pain... sadly, there are plenty of cases like that out there.

Mine are pretty rough, yeah, but what you’re describing sounds like an absolute nightmare. It’s genuinely awful thinking someone has to go through that every single month.😢

So, why are you avoiding the pill? Have you been diagnosed with anything like PCOS, or are you totally healthy otherwise, just dealing with these insane pain levels?
Donna Vaughn34 said:I’m heading out on a 7-day trip and I’ve got two packages coming. My elderly neighbor is a total saint and usually grabs my stuff every few days, so I figure they’ll just leave a yellow slip at my door. My big worry is that it'll take me five days just to get around to picking them up, and then they'll just send them back. Is there any way I can give someone else permission to grab them for me?

Found this on the HP website

General Hold Service

If you're traveling or just too busy to check your mailbox every single day—or if you can't make it down to pick up registered mail in person—you can request a general hold service at your local post office. Once you pick a branch, they'll hold onto anything addressed to your hold address for up to 30 days. You can just swing by whenever it works for you within that window to collect your mail.

I don't think it'll be an issue, though your cycle might get a little wonky 🙂

I actually stopped halfway through once before and nothing crazy happened. Not that I can remember what my OB-GYN told me at the time 🤔

And honestly, I don't think any doctor would even bother prescribing that medication to a sixteen-year-old.
Back then, it’s just your hormones running wild and driving everything, you know? Once they finally level out, your drive usually follows suit. If it doesn't, that's when you start looking at meds. 🙂
briskgardener6 said:Can someone recommend a solid surgeon? My nose is crooked, I’ve got bumps, a deviated septum, a bulky tip, and on top of all that, I actually broke it about a year ago. Honestly, the aesthetics are what's really eating at me, so if there's a top-tier surgeon in Washington, D.C., please let me know... plz 🙂 Is Glumičić any good or should I look elsewhere? And roughly how much are we talking about cost-wise?

nebo, here's a quote from what Susan Cooper23 😬 wrote a few posts up. Personally, I think it's worth getting a consultation with a specialist like that 🙂

Susan Cooper23 said:Since I keep getting tons of questions about Dr. Zambelli , I figured I’d just post a quick update here.

I sent the doctor an email late one night, and he got back to me immediately—even called me the next day. He mentioned he’ll be coming to Washington, D.C. every couple of weeks soon to work at a clinic for minor procedures (so anyone needing a consultation should be able to see him in D.C. now), and right now he's headed to this rhinoplasty congress in New York . I looked up the conference 😁 and saw that the speakers are basically the best rhinoplasty surgeons in the world . (I've spent two years studying the top American surgeons, so seeing Toriumi and his crew on the speaker list made it pretty clear what kind of circle he runs in).

As for my own nose, it's been almost 9 months since my second surgery. After my first surgeon completely botched it, Uglešić agreed to handle only part of the repair (he told me straight up that fixing the rest would be too much of a "pain in the neck")—Zambelli was the only one willing to take on my case. Instead of having a nose tip like Blanka Vlašić, I ended up with something totally natural, and most importantly, I can finally breathe. If I had it my way, I'd want the tip a little longer just for the look of it, but I get that there's no such thing as perfection, especially when you're dealing with a revision rhinoplasty.

I put myself in the hands of the best surgeon I could find in the country (at least in my opinion, and I did my homework), and my only regret is not going to Zambelli for the very first surgery. He really looks out for me; whenever I have a question (since I haven't been able to make it out to San Francisco yet), he responds, he calls me... he actually cares about his patients and wants us to be happy.

It’s incomparable to my first experience with a surgeon who didn't just ruin my nose aesthetically but also lied about fixing the deviation, only to try and shake me off at the end. Yeah, he even suggested just filling my nose with fillers 🙂

Since I got burned so badly the first time, I'm telling everyone 😁Honestly, you really need to do your homework here. Get a few different opinions before you settle on a surgeon. My best advice? You absolutely have to go see Zambelli for a consultation first. Getting a pro like that to weigh in is worth its weight in gold.

Does anyone have experience using Deanxit? I haven't been able to research it properly because the indications are listed in German, and I don't speak the language!

Hey, check out this psych med discussion thread. People there swap stories about all kinds of meds they've used, so you might get some better insight on what you're taking.
Low serotonin levels in Health ·
Depression doesn't always show up as anxiety, so where'd you get that idea? I tried Googling your symptoms, but honestly, everything linked to serotonin is tied back to depression anyway.

My depression used to hit me through stomach pains and nausea. After running every single test under the sun, the doctors basically told me there was nothing physically wrong with me...

Look, it’s a little harder to wrap your head around the fact that your mind can mess with your body like that, but you aren't alone and it's definitely a thing. You can go the antidepressant route, though just a heads up—if you stop taking them, things might slide back, mostly just because your serotonin levels take another dip. The other way is psychotherapy. Just because one therapist didn't click with you doesn't mean the next one or the fifth one won't work. Also, remission is always on the table. You could be feeling awesome for three years straight and then hit a rough patch for two. It's just how it goes.

I'm losing my mind! Life's been a total pressure cooker lately and having this delay on top of everything else is just... too much. Is there any chance I'm pregnant? Honestly, even I find it hard to believe. Oh, right—my sister deals with irregular cycles too; we both have PCOS. She manages it with birth control pills, but I can't touch anything with hormones because of my medical history (I was actually hospitalized at Mayo Clinic for a while dealing with some hormonal issues, so now I have to stay away from anything with heavy hormones)...

And maybe the answer isn't hidden in the bold text? At least part of the blame lies with the delay itself, right? Stress usually messes with your period. For instance, my mom gets hers early when she's stressed—sometimes her cycle is only 23 days—but for me, back when things were natural, stress would usually stretch my cycle out to 35 or 40 days.
