Curious, honestly sucks reading your stuff in here 😬 Do you want me to send you a screenshot showing how to break up your posts without getting flagged by the mods?
Honestly, I’ve had pretty decent luck with both Helex and Xanax myself. But how am I supposed to tell if it's actually frying my brain? 🤔 All I can really track is how much they help when a panic attack starts hitting. 🤷
Look, I’ve been riding the Adderall wave for three and a half years now, so I know the drill. That’s exactly why I started scaling back—I’m trying to find a pill that actually lasts through the day instead of just crashing by noon..

For me, if I hit that point where the medication should have kicked in—after a reasonable amount of time—and I felt zero improvement, or even worse, things got darker... well, I’d speak up to my doctor immediately so we could pivot the therapy. But that's where the real headache begins. Fine-tuning a regimen requires constant monitoring and, frankly, an incredibly deep grasp of psychopharmacology. In my experience, you rarely run into psychiatrists who truly master that nuance. Adjusting pharmacotherapy is basically a high-stakes guessing game. Sometimes you need one specific type of drug; sometimes you need several. Sometimes it's about layering different meds from the same class. As for the Paxil, 60 mg is actually pretty standard when dealing with obsessive thoughts, which seems to be what you're navigating. And regarding that sleep issue... usually, that side effect fades away once the Paxil actually starts working effectively and you manage to keep a decent sleep hygiene routine.
I gave up on my therapist ages ago because they were, to put it mildly, terrible..
Chloe Hughes6 said:Helix... hmm. People say it works well, and I took it myself for a short stint, but a pharmacist once warned me it's one of those major "brain burners." Isn't it fascinating how people struggling with mental health issues take offense even when you suggest they bear at least some responsibility for their situation? A psychiatrist will tell you the exact same thing. Now, I am certainly not claiming that patients invent their illnesses or are entirely to blame, but I am stating the fact that individuals often share partial responsibility. For instance, if someone suffers a breakdown due to workplace bullying and ends up in a psychiatric ward, could the reason they reached such a breaking point be that they didn't know how to stand up to the bully? In that case, aren't they partially responsible for the outcome? Do you see what I mean now?
So what, if someone hits me with a baseball bat and breaks my leg, I'm not stronger than a bat, so it's my own fault my leg is broken? 🤔 If that's not it, then no, I don't get you. ☕
And if it bugs you that people with mental illness feel attacked when told they have some part in their struggle (even if it's partly biological), then just leave this forum. Simple as that. 🙂
I’ve still got this habit of sleeping way too much—like at least 10 hours a day—mostly because I just feel totally wiped out all the time. But honestly? I really miss that deep, uninterrupted sleep I used to get on Paxil. Back then, I never once woke up in the middle of the night. Now, it’s like my brain won't shut off; I’ll find myself tossing and turning, waking up five or six times a single night. 😢
Timothy Wood38 said:There is proper treatment available for anxiety disorders. Usually, it’s a combination of medication and psychotherapy. Anxiolytics serve as a temporary fix while you wait for the antidepressants to kick in, and then typically you move into therapy. A doctor might also introduce other psychotropic drugs depending on their assessment. Paxil is actually a solid medication and works quite well for anxiety disorders. How long were you taking it, and what was your dosage? For me, Paxil didn't really touch my anxiety until I hit the 60 mg mark.
I was in therapy once a week for 10 months and stayed on Paxil the whole time. Didn't help at all, honestly—it just wiped me out so hard I was sleeping 14 hours a day🙄! I think my dose was lower than yours, but my doctor never bumped up the Paxil; they just kept increasing my Xanax (eventually I was taking 2, 2, 1)!
So, there’s really nothing out there that just kills that low-key sense of panic and constant unease? 🤔 Usually, Xanax does the trick, but it’s definitely not a long-term fix. Whatever this stuff is stuck in my head... whatever.
And hey, thanks for enlightening me with that whole "it's partially my own fault" logic. 👍
EDIT Newsflash: all mental health struggles happen in the brain. If you don't actually know what you're talking about, maybe just keep it to yourself. ☕
Has anyone else dealt with this kind of thing? What actually worked for you, if anything?
- I’ve got this unnamed phobia hanging over me—mostly just this constant fear of being alone, without people I actually know. It doesn't matter if I'm out running errands or just sitting in my own house; I never feel safe. The symptoms are basically just non-stop looping thoughts about it, a low-grade sense of panic 24/7, and this general feeling of dread and unease.
So, has anyone actually found a pill that cleared up those feelings? (I’m still holding out hope for some kind of magic pill 🙂! Paxil didn't help one bit. Like, at all. 😢)
For me, Paxil only really touched the insomnia side of things... helped me sleep, I guess, but that was about it 🙄 (I was on it for maybe 8 months, if not closer to 10)
Look, you aren't going to die, and you definitely can't predict when it'll happen.
Next time, don't just stare at some photos online. Actually go out and ask someone who knows what they're doing (we've even got a specific mushroom thread on this forum). You need to know the smell, how the colors shift once you pick them, if the gills under the cap change shade... a single photo is worth basically nothing. It's honestly the dumbest way to go foraging, man. Just be careful next time. 👍
Jason Vaughn482 said:While those points are certainly valid, we shouldn't lose sight of the fact that this is primarily an antipsychotic designed to treat schizophrenia; at lower doses, it may act as an antidepressant, but frankly, I find myself hesitant to take it, even after having experimented with it briefly in the past.
* In gastroenterology, it's considered a potent and selective central-acting antiemetic, targeting the bulbar centers, the reticular formation, and the hypothalamic nuclei. *
- I was only doing a quarter of a pill a day and didn't deal with any side effects at all. What's making you so nervous about it? 🤔
Quick heads-up for anyone else who ends up poisoning themselves—don't just toss those mushrooms in the trash. Get yourselves straight to the ER. It actually makes things way easier for the doctors when they can identify exactly what you ingested to figure out the right antidote. I saw this kid mess up big time thinking he'd found one thing when it was actually something else entirely. If his girlfriend had made that same mistake thinking she grabbed some common field mushrooms when it was actually something lethal... man, it could have been a disaster.
Regarding that whole stomach issue thing—I actually ended up on Eglonyl for my own gut problems. If I remember correctly, the instructions specifically mentioned it helps with gastro issues (it’s an antidepressant too, though I heard about this one woman who was prescribed it just for migraines). For me, it worked wonders on my stomach!
Same here. I once had some organic bell peppers from a local farmer's market that actually had flavor and weren't just rubbery, tasteless mush 👎! GMOs for the win!!
Honestly Don't go messing with wild mushrooms unless you actually know what you're doing. And if you're gonna be reckless enough to take the risk, just eat them yourself—don't go poisoning your guests too!
Look, sorry, but I think those decorations are just ugly. Honestly, those hunting "trophies" are pretty hideous too—I’m tossing my grandad's stuff out the second I get the chance... but hey, to each their own 🙂
