Michelle Alvarez8 said:I don't know—maybe you, those feminists, and Nica just don't get that we aren't calling people Nazis? It’s purely an allusion to how brainwashed and blindly obsessed people can be with an ideology. Since Nazis are basically the most recognizable bunch of fanatics out there, it’s totally logical to slap that nazi suffix onto any group of blind, zealous, stubborn followers of *any* cause. Including feminism.

P.S. That "I don't know" was sarcasm.

Regarding feminism—especially here in America—those idiots probably couldn't spot those issues anywhere if they weren't already hallucinating them out of pure fear.
slycrane94 said:So, newspapers run by believers (and pedophiles) are complaining about being called believers and pedophiles? I’m sure that’ll change everything on this forum. If you don't want people calling you a pedophile, maybe stop messing with children.
It’s the same logic: if you don't want to be called a feminazi, don't complain about women being degraded and men being insulted in the same breath.

Maybe there’s some feminist publication out there where you can write a pathetic little op-ed about how people treat you. If it worked for the church, maybe it’ll work for you. Then you can just swap articles with each other and watch the chaos unfold.

Did Anderlon send you here to stir the pot during pickle season?

If so, he should probably find someone else.
Because what you're doing is transparent and pretty bad.

Your advocacy isn't any better, either.
Poor soul you're trying to help. ☕
Michelle Alvarez8 said:It is now! Based on how you first put it—it really felt like it was actually illegal, which, let's be honest, is miles away from what you just linked.😉

I suppose it makes sense that calling a specific group Nazis would be prohibited and punishable by law.

It’s like if you were allowed to spread rumors that a certain group of people are actually pedophiles, thieves, or murderers.
I mean, obviously, you can't do that... I guess Axmi can 🤣
Michelle Alvarez8 said:I spent five minutes Googling and couldn't find anything saying it's banned—not even after a quick ten-second search... 🤷

Is that clear enough, I guess?
dustyranger64 said:It’s totally possible that some misogyny and chauvinism just goes completely unpunished around here on this forum.

But look, there's always two sides to every story. You've gotta consider that when certain arguments come up—say, in the form of... Just saw this study coming out of the psychology department over at California State. Really interesting stuff!Look, if you want to push back against a study like that, you’ve got to actually do the work! Challenge the methodology. Tear apart the data. Use actual arguments to question how they even reached their conclusions. You can't just go around throwing shade at California State University and calling it a day. That's not how this works! Total misogyny on this site. Seriously.

Sometimes you’ll be right in the middle of a solid debate—laying out perfectly legitimate points—and some opponent will just dodge everything you said. Instead of actually addressing your arguments, they’ll just brush you off with a cheap shot, calling your logic "militant feminism." It’s such a lazy way to shut down a conversation!
That’s honestly not a great way to handle a discussion about serious topics.
Just my two cents!

Not everything is exactly what the FBI wants.

That kind of terminology is pretty much off-limits now.
Not everything falls under the FBI's jurisdiction.

No.
I guess even the police aren't the only ones who can label things.
There are all those various associations, organizations, and media outlets too.

It was the same deal with religion.
An article once popped up about how believers were treated on a major US forum.
You might dismiss a specific news outlet, but if it hits one mainstream source, it eventually finds its way to another.
placidorca16 said:Dear moderators,
It’s honestly wild how several threads regarding feminism—currently active over in Politics (specifically those regarding "feminist protection of domestic abusers" and various "feminism" discussions)—are completely ignoring blatant sexism, misogyny, and direct violations of the Constitution and federal laws, not to mention international standards. A few users (the original poster, along with felix, bongo, and others, plus the thread starter) are basically just insulting women and their capabilities in general—spreading outright lies about female intelligence and skill as if they were "facts," despite having zero evidence to back any of it up. It's baffling that the mods aren't stepping in, especially since these posts have already been reported.
Does this mean the owners of this forum also endorse the misogyny, sexism, and falsehoods being directed at women?
I’m looking for an official statement from the administration here—this isn't just a breach of forum rules, it’s a violation of the Constitution and the laws of the USA, as well as the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women.

Lately, there have been so many threads about feminism (where, naturally, feminism is seen as the root of all evil🤣) that it’s almost unbelievable.

Maybe the mods over in Politics are on vacation, since there hasn't been much deleting lately.

But not long ago, there was that 'militant feminism' thread where the mods basically carried out a massacre. The way they were deleting and banning people on that topic... it just didn't make sense.
For instance, if you look at the posts by varzo, you might wonder what could possibly warrant a ban. Then look at the replies sent to him (which weren't banned), and I guess it becomes pretty clear.
His only "sin" was probably siding with the feminists.

Right now, there are several threads about feminism scattered across different PDFs—including this one.
And it’s always the same group telling the same stories.
As usual, chauvinists don't realize they're being chauvinists.
They don't even grasp that their statements are sexist.
But I suppose the moderators should be smarter than that, right?

Generally speaking, there's just a massive amount of misinformation regarding feminism, a pile of prejudices, and total misunderstanding. Not just from men, but from some women too.
It would take a hundred years to correct them and explain things.
I don't really have the energy to guide them toward the truth like they're little kids.

It’s exhausting how much they don't get, and how much they refuse to understand.

Are you still not seeing the connection? Look, Gay Pride—and the whole movement for gay rights itself—inherently includes a political component that doesn't necessarily have anything to do with actual gay rights. So, at its core, it functions as a political movement, even if that isn't how it's supposed to work.

I suppose I find this pretty stupid too. 🙄

I honestly don't get why they'd adopt symbols from a system that used to take such sadistic pleasure in beating them.
Karen Rodriguez3 said:I mean, yeah, I agree we shouldn't be bringing politics onto the Zodiac Killer boards in general.
But man, look at what happens when we touch on a topic that's actually important or heated in society.
Like, is someone even allowed to answer a claim that homosexuality faced its worst persecution from the church? Because you kind of have to mention certain eras and systems to make sense, but apparently, those are considered "political." Meanwhile, some people can drone on about religion and somehow it's fine.
Direct political debates? Sure, no way. But if these topics come up just to explain or clarify something during a discussion—and then people don't just keep pushing it—I guess it shouldn't be such a huge deal to let that explanation stay.

I'll second that.
Sometimes topics just drift toward political questions naturally. It’s not always because someone is desperate to force a political debate onto Zodiac Killer.

You can't just plant landmines everywhere and expect people to navigate them.
If everyone has to constantly censor themselves—thinking, "Oh, I can't say this, or that, or maybe this..."—they'll eventually just give up on the topic, the discussion, and the whole forum.
Posting should feel relaxed and spontaneous. It shouldn't feel like walking on eggshells or stressing over every single word.
Most reasonable people won't put up with that. 🤷

I’d suggest something similar.
I was thinking we could have a dedicated thread for commenting on current events.
Some things just don't fit under Politics or the chicken coop. 😁

It’s just that sometimes, I guess, it isn't clear which thread a specific news item belongs in.
So we end up hunting for a category that fits... which isn't always easy, maybe.

That’s why I think we need a single thread where we can discuss current affairs and press articles. Regardless of the topic. 😉

Of course, those topics or sections could be subdivided within the thread—like this or that. 🤷

I've tried this several times now, but it just won't work.

It says: 'The connection to the server was reset while the page is loading'. 🤷

Browsing other sites seems fine. A bit sluggish, I guess, but nothing major.

It’s also worth noting that half the Catholics from that thread ended up in the ban corner, while the other half stayed here. 😂 And the atheists? Not one of them. 🤔

That single image alone says more than a thousand words. 😁

So, why was my last post to steelskipper5 deleted?
It wasn't an insult, wasn't a lie, wasn't off-topic, and I wasn't trolling.
There isn't really any reason for it to be gone. Except maybe one thing—trying to accommodate an atheist.
And then people have the nerve to tell me that deleting posts in this thread isn't biased. ☕
Trolling and constant nitpicking in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Daniel Ward87 said:It's all pretty obvious to me; I just don't get why it isn't clear to everyone else.

I've mentioned this a few times already—there isn't one single way to define trolling. It can be anything, even just going off-topic. Someone might derail a thread on purpose, which is essentially trolling. Moderators have the "Custom Infraction" option, where they can flag anything that doesn't fit into specific categories. Even if we scrapped the "trolling" tag entirely, mods could just use the custom option to label it, so we'd be right back where we started.

Basically, trolling stays in that "gray area" because sometimes it's hard to explain exactly what happened. On many threads, if you ask the mods, they'll point at a post and call it trolling, while someone looking from the outside wouldn't see any issue at all.

I don't see why it's a problem for the Forum to call out trolls, regardless of how popular or active they are. A troll is a troll, no matter their username or post count.

Daniel Ward87

If that's the case, there's a massive amount of room for abuse.
How are you supposed to define or describe the abuse of power when you can't even pin down the definition of 'trolling' itself?

And if that kind of abuse actually happens, what can a user even do about it?
How would they even prove it? 🤷

I guess I'm just sitting here thinking, "So much for privacy." 😂

Anyway, I never expected much anonymity on a site like Reddit...

My inbox was full one day—only about 100 messages, really—and some user on a thread told me they were trying to DM me but couldn't.
So, I cleared out my inbox a bit.

Since I don't check my email for days at a time, I only realized a few days later that Reddit had sent me a notification to clear my inbox.

I guess I didn't realize that was even necessary. 🤷

Has anyone else actually gotten an email from Reddit like that?
My brother is struggling with gambling and alcohol addiction in Psychology & Therapy ·
neongull19 said:Hi,

My family is going through a massive crisis right now. My brother has been gambling for quite a while, and since I’m still in school, it’s hitting me hard—honestly, it's tearing our whole family apart.

It all started when he was about 22. He went to a local casino with a close friend to play the slot machines. Of course, he won a little bit of cash at first, and that was the spark that lit the fire. Back then, he was still married and had a son. After he started losing $100-$67 increments, things spiraled into a much darker phase where he was betting huge amounts of money. To make matters even worse, he got divorced, and his son moved in with his mom, who lives about 62 miles away, so they rarely see each other.

After the divorce, he turned to drinking, which just fueled the gambling addiction. Now we're talking serious money, like $500-$333 per night. He’s been borrowing from loan sharks and using everything as collateral—his phone, his laptop, you name it. He even reached a point where he was selling stuff from the house, but thank God my dad stepped in and stopped him.

Right now, he’s been drinking for a week straight, constantly gambling, taking loans from sharks, and pawning everything he owns (he just pawned his phone recently). It’s just getting worse and worse. On top of the alcohol and gambling, he’s also on some heavy medication because of mental health struggles. Thank God he isn't violent or anything like that, but he would literally sell his soul to gamble. He actually went to rehab for alcoholism once a long time ago, which helped for a bit, but he’s right back in the cycle again.

I am begging for any kind of help or advice. Are there any former gamblers here or people currently in recovery? People say gambling addiction can be even harder to break than heroin, and seeing him sink deeper and deeper into this hole—taking my whole family down with him—is devastating. I’m based in the Pacific Northwest, so if there are any local associations, support groups, or clubs nearby, please let me know.

Thanks!

How old are you? And how old is your brother now?
I suppose you should call the Blue Line/Brave Phone first to explain everything and see what your options are.
Your parents probably care too much to kick him out, even though he's an adult causing serious problems.
Since you're the youngest, you'll likely be the one suffering most from all this.
It's possible the child protective services might get involved.
Maybe try to use the fact that you're still a student so the system still has to protect you. Use whatever legal protections are available.
That might make things a little more bearable for the rest of the family.
Because honestly, things aren't going to get easier later; they'll just get harder.

He'll probably keep struggling with these addictions for a long time, and there's no telling what else he might do.
He could end up dragging everyone down with him.
If it's already "affecting you," then the damage is already being done.
Just call those hotlines and report it.
Protect yourself first.

Doing that might help the others in the family, too. 😉
