Sauber performs really well in fast turns, which is exactly what you get at Monza.

Are there really fast corners in Singapore? 😁

Singapore is more like Valencia—mechanically demanding, bumpy, tricky grip... especially when exiting corners, plus the braking stability.

Sauber? Sauber definitely lacks single-lap pace. They didn't have it in Valencia either.
Poor qualifying—hardly a winning combo for a "street" circuit.

All Sauber has going for them is race pace. Or rather, they got lucky with it... what, maybe three races? Sorry, four. I forgot about Germany.

The stars aligned, and the Pirelli tires worked perfectly. It’s not like we haven't seen this exact same scenario with Maldonado or Rosberg before.

The rest is just a scrap for positions around tenth place.

Woo-hoo, look at those super-mega-gigantic-fast Saubers. ☕
Raymond Anderson4 said:Honestly, I think people dismiss tracks like Valencia or the Miami Grand Prix Circuit for no reason. Personally, I’d much rather watch a race at the Miami Grand Prix Circuit than at Monza. In my opinion, the layout in Miami offers more room for maneuver, which lets a driver use their actual skill to compensate for any flaws in the car, no matter how big they are.

That’s just how I categorize them... if a circuit demands more raw skill, I have more respect for it, even when comparing it to an epic venue like Monza.

Skill, Mickey Mouse tracks, compensating for a slow car... it's all nonsense😁. None of that changes the reality that year after year in Singapore, we just watch a boring little train of cars.
Just like in Valencia, though I suppose Singapore is a bit more "spectacular" because of the environment.
Raymond Anderson4 said:I’ve always felt the Singapore Grand Prix is an incredible track. It’s incredibly technical, making it nearly impossible to string together a truly fast lap.
Fernando Alonso has always had a knack for this circuit, so I’m really pulling for him to grab another podium here.

I’m with you on that—McLaren looks like the favorite heading into this race after that strong showing in Canada. Lotus might be a dark horse too, considering how well they performed back in Valencia and Canada.
As for Red Bull Racing, I'm honestly not sure what to expect. They were in a league of their own during Valencia, but that was a while ago, and things have shifted significantly since then.

Yeah, yeah... the track is pure madness. image
Edward Howard2 said:Since Max doesn't have any interest in becoming the manager for the Reddit F1 championship 2013, I honestly believe the best move would be Jason Campbell70. For the sake of the competition, we should probably hold off on making a final call on the manager until the season wraps up. That way, we can get a definitive answer from Jason. We've already seen his proposed alternatives try their hand at leading, and frankly, they haven't been the right fit. To ensure this championship succeeds, we need the absolute best option available. And that's Jason.

Edward Howard2, you know I value your perspective immensely.
I’ve been weighing my options myself—whether to join the '13 championship as a competitor or step up as the manager.

After hearing what you just said, the scale is tipping heavily in one direction.

Edward Howard2 said:So, I'm appealing for us to wait until the end of the season. It might just pay off. We don't have much to lose by waiting, but we could gain a lot...

Great minds think alike. 🙂

Besides, we might actually have a larger field of competitors.

What we have here isn't a real competition; it's an endless loop of debating the rulebook.
The rules aren't here to facilitate the competition; rather, the competition exists merely as an excuse to argue about the rules.

Some people enjoy that dynamic, but most don't. And that is precisely why the number of participants keeps dwindling.

Perhaps I'm wrong, but that's my take on it.

Interesting "arguments," especially coming from someone who spent the last 24 hours on this thread complaining about how "certain people are trolling."

Since stormybadger8 brought it up...
If MAXYM knows the rulebook better than anyone, we've seen it in every single instance where he's used logic to prove his point during debates over rules—or rather, how they apply to current racing.
Because of that, I honestly think MAXYM would be the perfect candidate for host.
But there's a catch: he can't participate in the next championship as a competitor.

It’s either me or MAXYM. There isn't a third option that works just as well.

Bjesomar said:5. In the event of a points tie, the player who submitted their prediction earlier takes precedence.

If nothing else, I'm glad my suggestion was so well received, whether through the current rulebook or as part of the proposals for a potential one.
Matthew Young35 said:No matter how perfect we make the rulebook (and let's be honest, none of us are practicing criminal defense attorneys), people will never be satisfied. They'll just troll.

The only way this championship actually functions is if the host acts like a dictator—deciding on the fly how to apply the rules (whether they are two lines or fifty pages long) and mercilessly banning anyone who dares question his interpretation.
The current setup has become exhausting for most of us, serving as nothing more than fuel for a few trolls to amuse themselves.

Normal people would be fine with just a few basic rules.

But with this group of competitors and hosts? Even two long posts outlining fifteen detailed rules wouldn't be enough.

stormybadger8 said:Fine, you get one last chance while I'm being reasonable.

Answer these questions:
1. Do you want to be included in the poll?
2. Will you act as the host if the players choose you?

Any response other than "yes" or "no" will be treated as the worst kind of trolling, and I will issue a penalty accordingly.

Hey, you're digging up a post from two months ago. It was written under completely different circumstances than today. The situation has changed.

That offer was made at a different time, in a different context. ☕

Back then, I was willing to be a moderator, and even willing to participate in the championship as a competitor at the same time.
Right now? As a competitor, I DO NOT want to be the host.

Consequently, I can only decide whether or not to serve as the host for the Formula 1 2013 season once I decide if I'm competing in it. Not before.

And the fact that you—even though you aren't the host, just a moderator—are suggesting that the users vote long before the current championship ends doesn't change my decision regarding participating as either a competitor or a potential host.

It’s quite simple, really. No need to overcomplicate things on my end.
I'll likely make my decision about next year's championship after the final race of the current season. I need to look back and weigh all the pros and cons of participating.

You could just wait for this season to wrap up, clear the air, and then start fresh by thinking about next season.
Why argue about the current season and the next one simultaneously, especially when the next season doesn't start for another six months?

My advice? We have all of December, January, and February to think about the Formula 1 2013 season. Why rush?

If you insist on rushing, my answer is clear: don't count on me.
That tall guy who stars in 🤷"Heartbreak Ridge."
stormybadger8 said:Look, sorry, but I’m not interested in playing guessing games about what you're thinking or if you're actually going to race...
All I care about is whether you want to be in the poll and if you want to be the host.
Your plans regarding the championship? Literally don't matter to me.

I'm telling you, I just can't give you a definitive answer this early.
You know me—making snap judgments or sudden decisions only to backtrack later isn't how I operate. 🙂

Besides, why rush? Let's see how the current Championship wraps up first, then we can move on to the next one.
redheron12 said:Accusations of trolling or mindless rule-lawyering are all too often used as an excuse when someone lacks any actual, coherent argument. To me, the "because I'm the host" defense sounds much worse—and nothing is more frustrating than seeing people hide behind moderator authority...

Personally, I find looking for loopholes in the rules to be fun—after all, even in Formula 1, teams constantly push the boundaries of regulations and specs—but it stops being fun when someone tries to force their own agenda through sheer intimidation. Using moderator powers as a hammer is, quite frankly, a form of bullying.

Exactly.

DDD, EBD, flexible wings, floor designs, engine maps, adjusting ride height... isn't that just finding ways to exploit the rulebook?

It’s just an added bonus for the championship, considering it's modeled after real-world F1 racing. 🙂
stormybadger8 said:Honestly, I don't care about any of that. All I want to know is if you're down to be in the poll, and whether you'll step up as the host to run the championship if the players pick you.🤷

As I mentioned at the start of my last post, whether or not I take part in the Reddit F1 championship 2013 will be the deciding factor here.
stormybadger8 If I recall correctly: said:Jason Campbell70[/URL] and Matthew Young35
I'm just not certain about their registration status or whether they actually want to participate in the poll.🤷

It depends on whether I decide to play in the next championship.

You know I've maintained from the start that the host shouldn't be one of the competitors in the championship. 😉

But here, the host isn't "just" a competitor; they are also a moderator.
And we can already see how that plays out;

Or even simpler!
I'm the host!

🙂

Basically—the host needs to be an impartial individual. Someone who clearly understands the current rules, isn't a moderator, and of course, isn't a competitor in the championship they are running.
stormybadger8 said:Cut it out with all this talk about clones and whose clone is whose 😳
I’ll be deleting any discussions like this, and I won't hesitate to issue a ban if necessary.

Look, I have zero clue who we're talking about and frankly, I don't care. As long as they aren't playing games between the clone and the original, who they actually are is irrelevant.
Their rules seem fine to me. I don't see why they couldn't be a candidate for Manager—or even become the Manager if we decide to elect them...

It matters, little guy. It really does.
You aren't just voting on a set of rules; you're voting for a person. The fact that someone went through the trouble of making a clone and refuses to show their face? That says everything about how they view their reputation among the competitors and the rest of the community.

There’s zero transparency here, and it isn't a level playing field.

At the end of the day—it's just more shady business in the Championship.
Is that really what we want?

It is truly quite unsettling to contemplate the notion of some mysterious clone stepping in to take over as the manager of the Championship.

Everything about this is simply better than the best. 🙏

As I mentioned previously, this is my new handle, and moving forward, I plan to start posting within the PDF sections and actively engaging in various discussions, so you won't have any trouble finding me around.

So, what was your original handle...
A mysterious clone taking over as Championship director.

It just keeps getting better and better. 🙏

Not quite enough to make a serious dent against McLaren, Lotus, or Red Bull Racing. Not yet.

Why?

So, Maestro managed to stretch his lead in the standings during this race, pulling even further away from second place.

Following the German Grand Prix, the gap was sitting at 34 points (Fernando Alonso 154, Mark Webber 120).
Now that we're through the Canadian Grand Prix, that lead has climbed to 40 points (Fernando Alonso 164, Mark Webber 124).

What an absolute legend. 🙏🙏🙏
