Schizophrenia - General Discussion in Psychology & Therapy ·
Whether antipsychotics actually "kill" someone's spirit is a debate that could go on forever—it’s one of those things where everyone sees it differently. For people caught in the grip of psychosis, that state *is* their reality. To them, being pulled back down to Earth—to having those hallucinations and delusions stripped away—feels less like healing and more like an execution of the only world they know. It feels like being numbed out. You have manic and psychotic patients who fight against their meds tooth and nail because they’d much rather stay in their own version of "normal," even if to an outside observer, they look like they're on some terrifying, hyper-speed high.

The bulk of readmissions happens for this exact reason: patients just stop taking their antipsychotics. They don't want to be "normalized"—they want to stay psychotic. It leads to these situations where forced hospitalization becomes necessary, which is a complete 180 from how we handle chronic physical conditions like diabetes or high blood pressure. With those, you try to get people to take their meds to stabilize; with mental health, the struggle is often trying to stop them from drifting away entirely.

Frank Hughes40 said:Can anyone tell me if I can pick up Siofor without a prescription?
I’m asking for a friend who lives outside the US and they just don't have it over there. Maybe they have something similar available? She keeps insisting that Siofor is the only thing her system actually handles well.

You could try getting it under a cash pay arrangement for metabolic syndrome,
but you’ll be footing the whole bill—full price plus tax and whatever markup the pharmacy adds.

Henry Garcia9 said:Schizophrenia isn't some permanent, lifelong state of psychosis. It usually hits in episodes, and if you stay on top of your meds, you might even dodge those episodes entirely.

Schizophrenia isn't just a "normal" reaction to an insane world.

Antipsychotics aren't designed to turn people into mindless drones or strip away their will to live; they're meant to tackle the hallucinations, delusions, depression, and all that other stuff.

To me, schizophrenia isn't some mystical spiritual journey—it’s a sickness, and thank God, it’s treatable...

I get the feeling you guys are way too obsessed with past relapses and looking for deep meaning where there isn't any... In schizophrenia, your brain is basically just playing tricks on you...

Nausea after working out in Health ·
Ashley Baker34 said:I get this wave of nausea and weakness right after training if I eat anything high in protein—it’s like my body is just begging to throw up. Yesterday, after a pretty light gym session, I had some low-fat cottage cheese and ended up tossing and turning in bed for three hours because my stomach felt so heavy and unsettled... just constant nausea. I decided to skip the post-workout meal entirely, but then this morning—literally fifteen minutes after breakfast—the same weakness and queasiness hit me. This never used to happen before I started hitting the gym regularly. Where am I going wrong? Is it the workouts? :S It feels pointless, so any help would be appreciated.

Increasing your protein intake acts as a trigger for excess gastric acid secretion, which is why you’re feeling that nausea and general disgust. Maybe try scaling back the protein and gradually increasing the dosage over time? Or, you could try taking some Pepcid before you eat.

😉And for heaven's sake, don't eat protein right before bed while you're still dealing with this—between the acid production from the protein and the way the vagus nerve activates at night, you're basically asking for GERD.

During the day, try pairing your proteins with some healthy fats—maybe stir a tablespoon or two of olive oil into that cottage cheese. 😉
Basically, during cataract surgery, they use ultrasound phacoemulsification to break up that cloudy, damaged lens—just pulverizing it, really—and then they vacuum it all out before dropping a new intraocular lens right into the capsule.

If you don't have a lens in there, the eye is aphakic, which just means it’s incredibly hyperopic—extreme farsightedness.

Once you’ve got an artificial intraocular lens in place, you’re considered pseudophakic.

Vision usually gets corrected back to normal refraction, though you might still struggle a bit with accommodation—you know, that whole thing where your eyes focus on things up close.

Now, if you go with the newer, more expensive high-end lenses—multifocal ones, like the RE-ZOOM models
—you can actually bypass that accommodation issue entirely.

Bottom line: you only get these intraocular lenses implanted after your original lens is gone, whether that's due to cataracts, some other structural damage, or if you were born without one.

He just walked away crying

It’s correct without the hyphen because "crying" is an intransitive verb here—it doesn't need that extra bit of punctuation to function as its own thing. It's not some compound mess like you'd see in a technical manual—it's just how the language works:
He just walked away crying. 🙂

Theoretically, you don't even need to lift a single weight to build muscle—you could just spike your insulin levels constantly, chug some whey, and occasionally toss back some glucose. 😉
Best time of day to work out? in Hobbies & Leisure ·
frozenowl10 said:If you're looking to drop some weight, hitting the pavement early in the morning is the sweet spot. Why? Because training on an empty stomach forces you to tap into those fat stores—burn them off, and they're gone.

Sure, that works, but there’s nothing particularly fun about grinding out a two-hour run while feeling like you haven't eaten in decades. 😉
Besides, I’ve always been more of a night owl—it’s just how I’m wired—which means
during the summer months, I’d have to be up at 4:00 AM, which is just not realistic for my life.
So, I stick to running from 10:00 PM until midnight. Plus, that’s when the temperature actually drops and it gets bearable.

At the end of the day, if the goal is losing weight, the time of day doesn't matter nearly as much as just getting out there and running consistently.

Caffeine is basically a one-way ticket to having dark, ugly teeth—doesn't matter if you're hitting the Starbucks or just grabbing a Coke. 😁

Keep it real: Honest feedback wanted in Psychology ·
Good evening, everyone.
I find myself in this position—or maybe it's more like an unfortunate recurring situation—where people constantly ask me to weigh in on things. They want my take, you know? A breakdown of the pros and cons, supposedly so someone can "improve" or some entity can fix its flaws. It’s a constant cycle of being asked to judge, though I’m never quite sure if they actually want an honest assessment or just someone to validate what they already think.

Look, I’ve always been the type to just lay it all out there—no fluff, no sugarcoating—just telling it exactly how it is.

So then you’ve got this person—someone looking for an honest appraisal, I guess—who goes running to a third party just to hear them say:
You’re doing just fine—honestly, don't even sweat him. He’s one of those people who genuinely believes he knows more than he actually does.

I honestly can't wrap my head around what that's supposed to mean—"thinks they know more than they actually do." It’s one of those vague, pseudo-intellectual phrases people toss around when they want to sound deep without actually saying anything at all. Just feels like empty noise, really.

If anyone comes looking for an objective opinion from me, they’re going to get it—straight up. I’m not here to sugarcoat things or play nice just to make someone feel better. I don't do lies, and I definitely don't do fluff. You get the truth, raw and unvarnished. That's just how I roll. 🤷

Why doesn't anyone actually value honesty anymore? People seem more interested in sucking up to someone just to avoid the awkwardness of an uncomfortable truth—it’s exhausting. It reminds me of those teachers back in high school who would just hand out straight A's and B's to everyone—not because the work was actually good, but because they couldn't be bothered to grade anything objectively. They just wanted to play the "nice teacher" role and keep the peace in the classroom. It's all about avoiding conflict rather than being real.

🤷

I’m honestly just done with this whole facade of Anglo-Saxon morality—it’s exhausting. They look you right in the eye and tell you everything is great, that you’re doing an amazing job, while they’re busy stabbing you in the back the second you turn around. It’s all just theater. Honestly, the whole WikiLeaks affair pretty much stripped away the mask and showed everyone exactly what was going on behind the scenes.

Why people are so terrified of the truth—it’s a question that keeps coming up, isn't it? It’s funny, really. We spend our entire lives building these elaborate little mental fortresses, layering brick upon brick of denial just to keep a single uncomfortable fact from breaking through. It’s not even about being "wrong" anymore; it's about the sheer exhaustion of having to rebuild your entire worldview once you realize the foundation was made of sand. Most people would rather live in a comfortable delusion than face a jagged reality—it’s just easier that way. Truth is messy. It doesn't care about your feelings or your carefully curated social media persona, and it certainly doesn't offer any easy answers. It’s much more convenient to cling to a nice, polished lie that tells you everything is fine, rather than dealing with the actual, grinding mechanics of how things work. People fear the truth because the truth demands action, and most people are just too tired for that. 🤷

That's all I've got for you.
Look, let’s just be honest here—no need to play that diplomatic, shady game like the Anglo-Saxons do, always working behind everyone's back.
So, you can offer them a wry little smile all you want—it won't stop them from sticking a knife in your back. Just look at what WikiLeaks revealed.
The whole issue boils down to the fact that most people operate under these assumptions:

1. That getting an erection is strictly a matter of willpower—as if it’s some conscious choice you make.
2. That the one doing the penetrating is always the guy.
3. That men are naturally the ones who initiate sex.

By the time most guys hit thirteen, they’re already deep into masturbating to just about anything they see—it's pretty much all they think about, women and sex, constantly.
So, he wasn't really complaining. 🤷

I've known about Koffee with Karati for quite a while now; I stumbled upon it about a year and a half ago and ended up watching every single episode. As for that ZOOM site... honestly, don't bother. It's nothing but gossip. 99.9% of what they claim isn't true—everyone knows that. 🙂

If you actually want the real scoop, you're better off following Tom Cruise and the other actors on Twitter. That's where you get the actual information...🙂🙂🙂🙂
