...the woman who managed to "connect" total strangers in a foreign land so brilliantly and elegantly—and she even shot two films back-to-back with Giovanni Ribisi. Honestly, that alone is enough for 👍

...Andrea Arnold is still just on my radar, while Siofra Campbell is someone I'm already looking forward to seeing... but they both remain, as always, unknowns to me—just names on a screen 🙂

EDIT: forgot about Jane Campion—I'm certainly no expert on her work (I think I've seen maybe two features and some shorts), but even with my limited film knowledge, I think she definitely deserves a mention 😁

...that beautiful, lovely first album of theirs 😍...with that gorgeous, unique, and incredibly warm vocalist (Tim Rice-Oxley... or whatever his name is again 😳), which really should have been utilized way better on the second record...but the lyricist just missed the mark...and that was that...they became just another one of those "unremarkable" bands...

...if it weren't for DivX, I probably would never have seen some of the movies that sit in my absolute top 10 today. Without it, I might not even know what cinematic art is...
...and sure, the picture isn't theater-quality, the sound isn't surround, and everything doesn't look "perfect," but if the actual substance of the movie is what matters most to you, those are things you can look past... because enjoying the visuals, the audio, and the spectacle isn't necessarily the same thing as enjoying the film itself. And obviously, a Michael Haneke film looks better on a massive screen (just imagine that ten-minute shot that glows so surrealistically you can't tell if it's reality, fiction, a dream, or something else entirely, playing on an AMC Theatres screen 😍), but his films are phenomenal no matter where I watch them, and that’s what counts... enjoying the content, the attention to detail, the fantastic camera angles, and that perfect timing... as someone mentioned above, DivX is "illegal" and bad for the film industry, but I personally have benefited immensely from it. A simple file format certainly didn't destroy art; if anything, it brought art to me...

...personally, I think it's much easier to argue that video rental stores and theaters—in their desperate pursuit of profit—are the ones destroying art (by only stocking movies they know will sell, which robs us of the chance to ever see certain magnificent moments of cinema) — but that's just profit logic, and I don't plan on debating that here...

...look, searching for a young doctor is just part of a very calculated master plan... he’s a junior resident, which means he’s got potential. I’m a college senior about to graduate with basically zero job prospects... so, I did the math...
...I find this young doc to "help" me... he runs some tests, I give him a little wink and some cute chat... then, at some point, he says, "you know, it might be best if I give you one more exam, just to be sure..." and suddenly we're hitting it off and... well, let your imagination run wild... and within a few weeks, my career and my future are totally set 😉

(*The actual truth: my health isn't always great, so I wasn't sure if there were any actual doctors on here or just students hanging out...😳*)

...to keep this brief...I have a bit of a silly question...
...I just had some endocrine testing done (T4, TSH) and got my results back...but I can't get in to see my doctor for another week or so, and I am honestly a little anxious about what they mean...so if there happens to be a kind soul here who knows how to "decode" these things, I would be incredibly grateful...🙂
...here is the breakdown: T4 value = 93 (nmol/L) with a reference range of 65-160, and TSH value = 1.40 (mU/L) with a reference range of 0.36-4.20...

...if this is totally out of line, moderators, please feel free to delete it...but if anyone actually understands these cryptic symbols, I would appreciate the help so much 🙂

...personally, I walked away pretty disappointed...👎, even if it wasn't a total disaster...it just didn't hit the mark for me...
