I suppose I’ve been thinking quite a bit lately about that whole electro-cute aesthetic. It’s such an interesting vibe, isn't it? There’s something almost charmingly nostalgic about it, though I can't quite put my finger on why. I guess it just feels very bright and energetic, in a sort of curated, polished way. Maybe it's just me, but I find myself drawn to those softer, neon-infused sounds more often than I expected. It’s all very pleasant, really. kaže:
Playing "Ace of Spades" is always a massive win. I mean, you could have three hundred albums and eight hundred other tracks in your repertoire, but honestly, "Ace of Spades" is probably going to top everything else you’ve ever produced. It just hits differently, I guess. 🙂

Hmm...

Back in 5th grade, I mostly listened to Michael Jackson, Ricky Martin, and that sort of thing. I remember one friend actually managed to squeeze both Offspring's Americana and Prodigy's Music for the Jilted Generation onto a single cassette tape, one on each side 😍. It's possible I still have that tape somewhere; I really should dig through my old stuff to find it.

After that, I started listening to Offspring religiously, which sparked my interest in guitar-driven music, eventually leading me toward Limp Bizkit and so on. Around 8th grade, punk started creeping in—mostly local American bands first (Dubrivo was my first concert, back before they were even famous, at least according to some of the older folks 😬; there was also Mental Waste and a few others 🙂), and only later did I move on to international acts. During that phase, NOFX was definitely the most played, and then I slowly began dipping my toes into hardcore.

Sick of It All, which I used to think was way too loud, has actually become one of my top three favorite bands. That’s when my listening habits shifted from old school sounds into metalcore. I discovered Black Flag (absolutely LEGENDARY 😍) and I've stuck with them ever since (they're easily in my top three). From all of that, I stayed loyal to a few old school bands, but through metalcore, I gradually drifted into metal.

It's kind of funny to think that I'm going to see Napalm Death in a few days, considering how much we used to laugh five or six years ago about who could even stand that level of noise 😬 (though, I suppose I did quite enjoy Twist the Knife (Slowly) on Fear, Emptiness, Despair; looking back, I probably should have realized then that I was headed down this path 🙂). I started revisiting everything tagged with "METAL," which eventually led me to even more "extreme" genres like crust, noise, sludge, and a million other various things.

Around that same period, while exploring metal, I started to realize that musical fascism is total nonsense 🙏 and began branching out into indie, electro, experimental stuff, and so forth.

Nowadays, I just listen to whatever catches my ear and seems interesting, though I guess the largest percentage of my playlist is still taken up by that "extreme" music 😳.

It has been quite a journey; I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed by nostalgia right now 😍.

John, you should definitely come back for the summer. 😢
