Printer Buying Guide (Summer 2016) in Computer Peripherals ·

God, you're impatient. Even the Iliad didn't get sung in a single night.

So, what kind of monitor are you actually playing on—or planning to get?

That’s how I scored my Brother MFC-J5910DW. You just don't see printers built like that on the market anymore. 😉

But hollowmarlin27, you said everything except the HP can only handle a few hundred pages before dying, so buying a used printer for $0.00 isn't exactly a steal.

The PC build is perfectly balanced and actually holds its own at 1080p.
If he’s going to swap anything, he should probably just overhaul the whole thing or at least grab a better OC CPU paired with an RX 570.

And what’s the going rate for a 980Ti where you’re at (assuming you can even find one)?

Nathan Castillo16 said:Exactly. I asked about picking between a GTX 980 Ti or a GTX 1070, and I settled on an ASUS model.

Then drop some links. Where exactly are you planning to buy this? Just guessing isn't helpful.

Where are you even looking to pick this up? A 980 Ti isn't exactly easy to find at a decent price anymore.

You said price doesn't matter... but if that's true, your advice is pretty pointless. You'll likely end up paying nearly as much for a 980 Ti as you would for a GTX 1080, which blows both of them out of the water anyway.

P.S. Just thinking out loud here... maybe if you overclock a 980 Ti to the absolute limit, it holds its own, but realistically? It’s a waste unless you snag it for a steal—way cheaper than a 1070.

Robert Rodriguez2 said:If I'm following correctly, he wants to stick to one brand and match all the lighting. Wants the whole setup to look cohesive and flashy.

But what’s the actual question here?

Is the GTX 980 better than the GTX 1070—not based on price, but on some other metric?

Man, if I’m actually following what you’re trying to say or ask, then I’m officially lost
Is it worth overclocking an i5-6400? in Desktops ·
Exactly... you don't even need an aftermarket cooler for an i7-6700, especially since it's already running at a stock 4.0GHz, which isn't even that much lower than some overclocked i5K

Did you pull the trigger on that CPU yet?

At that price point:

1) it’s honestly not worth it
2) you're better off grabbing an i7 non k on a standard motherboard clocked at a stock 4.0GHz

Man, that’s way too little cash to overhaul the whole rig. Just grab a used Core i5 like everyone else is saying
and dump whatever you have left into the best GPU you can find.

He said smaller and more portable, and this definitely fits the bill.

btw, since when does HAK sell hardware???
Used PC builds: What are they worth? in Desktops ·
You could probably put together a new build for around $1,200 using a G1620 or something similar... maybe it works out like Smartic said, but honestly, I think that only makes sense if the buyer lives in a specific area.
I remember offloading an old AMD dual core back about two or three years ago, and I barely got anything for it. $100

I’d peg a PC at around 500-$200, but there are plenty of those out there... I’d try starting with $167 and if that doesn't work, just start dropping the price.
Issues with my new laptop? in Hardware ·
Timothy Kim60 said:Just download the drivers directly from the manufacturer's site and call it a day.

Look, some laptops from 2014 didn't even have Windows 7 drivers, let alone modern hardware. At this point, you just grab whatever works—install Windows 8.1 and move on.

Jesse Brown90, I can't tell if you're just a hater or a troll, but there's really no need for the insults, the off-topic rambling, or bringing up conspiracy theories. I'm sure there's a subforum somewhere for the New World Order, but it doesn't belong under hardware discussions.

On topic: You can build a rig today for $500-$600 that would absolutely demolish any $4000 setup from your era, and that’s with a Solid State Drive included. It flies compared to anything from 5-10 years ago.

Nowadays, you can put together a budget build around a Radeon RX 460 for about $1000, which outperforms most of the junk sold back when your hardware was current. For $333, you're looking at much more serious stuff—like a Radeon RX 470—which will triple the performance on those old games, while both the Radeon RX 460 and Radeon RX 470 can handle pretty much any modern title.

Regarding APIs, DirectX 11 brought some decent optimization, and DirectX 12 / Vulkan are great for older hardware. Of course, your Core 2 Duo and the rest of that rig have been completely left in the dust by time.

P.S. If it were up to me, you'd be banned for the vulgarity and the insults. This isn't a place to dump your frustrations, at least not like this.

Which one for $2000? Next step is an i7, which costs way more than $2000—already told you that above.
