Steven Reed said:I suppose I partially agree with that post—partially, at least—because while users might set the direction of a single sub-forum, we all know the mods hold the steering wheel (or, more precisely, they direct the flow of conversation). Still, this feels like total garbage to me.
You, me, and everyone else knows the drill: the endless cycle of "Me, me, me! Pick me for mod! I want power! I'll make an impact!" 🤣 It’s laughable. The admins and the existing mod team handle the appointments; some user's solo initiative to grab a title is just ridiculous—honestly, I laugh until I cry every time I see someone actually try to take this seriously 😍.
We've seen these attempts on older threads before, but I haven't seen anything like it on this one or the previous ones. 🤷
All I see is the group asking for one active mod for this section—because let's be real, this isn't exactly a bustling metropolis that needs five mods working in shifts. 😍
We just need one person who won't butcher the vibe—this crew is great, they aren't trash even when they act up—someone who will resize those massive images that stretch across the whole screen (and maybe send a quick DM to new users instead of immediately throwing a red card; I haven't even seen that happen on much larger forums when it comes to newbies). We need someone who will jump into a thread when things get too rowdy to steer people back to the topic, and who will occasionally start a new thread rather than acting like a pure janitor.
So? When are you coming back? 😍

Never; honestly, my personal take on that PDF—as much as I might actually like it and despite all those hazy, half-baked posts scattered through it—is ceterum censeo garbage esse delendam; it basically just ate itself alive, and there isn't any helping it at this point.

The only thing I really want to say is that even if the Head Moderator was in his absolute prime, he couldn't save Garbage if the users themselves don't step up and breathe some life back into the PDF.🙂

rustydrifter10, throw me one more ticket so we can get moving... we've got a long drive ahead of us! 🙂

brightjackal13 said:Your post is right up there with those "things were better back in the good old days" ramblings.

I especially love this part:
when I left, I handed over a subforum that wasn't exactly booming, but at least there were some basic rules of conduct in place. maybe my mistake was not being blunt enough about the fact that when the crew starts acting out, a mod needs to hand out a few virtual slaps—keep things organized, put posts where they actually belong, and then sit back with a cold beer and a smile while reading the thank-you notes from grateful forum users and their even more grateful assets.

Ivo, is that you? 😲

Anyway, not to drone on too long—if things had been moderated properly from the jump, we wouldn't be here. It’s like letting a kid get away with small tantrums until you eventually end up with an absolute brat. Something like that. 😍

EDIT_A This "Trash Forum User" comment—wtf? Are moderators not forum users? 🤔

They aren't; I mean, everyone knows moderators are basically demi-gods living up on Olympus, but since their internet connection is a bit sluggish up there due to the altitude, they have to descend down to the mortal realm just to moderate.

And honestly, your comparison to an underdeveloped mess is spot on—I’d just add the fact that this particular underdeveloped (or, if we're using the local slang, "hyperactive") mess is a direct product of your keyboard, among other things.😉
Look, I’m not making excuses for the mods—myself included—but let's be real: what kind of moderation would actually get people to engage? Would we need to hand out green cards and lollipops to the "good kids," rewarding them every time they manage to grace the Trash with a post?

Statements like "we asked/thought/intended to, but we didn't see any government incentive or lifetime achievement award, so we didn't follow through on what we asked/thought/intended" are just ridiculous.
Should a new thread be opened to kickstart the PDF? Then go ahead and open one; last time I checked, there isn't an army of horny gargoyles hiding behind the "New Thread" icon waiting to jump you with boiled, lubricated hybrid corn stalks from gentlegull93 (just imagine that for a second—trust me, you'll be weirded out by that mental image later).

It's the same deal here; if you want to be a mod, then say it loud and clear: "The current mods suck, chop off their heads and put me in charge because I know I can do it better." And hey, if that's your vibe, you've got my full support.😉 But there's really no point in dragging this out into two massive volumes—or in forum terms, two separate threads—without ever reaching a single concrete conclusion.

👋

I’m loving this; have any of you ever actually heard of the concept of self-managed socialism? The big slogan back then was "Factories to the workers!", or if we want to transpose that to this specific situation, "Garbage to the Garbage Forum Users." 😁

When I recently hopped back on and saw what this subforum has turned into—honestly, it kind of killed my desire to even bother posting here.
And look, don't go complaining about the mods. When I stepped away, I left them a subforum that wasn't exactly buzzing, but at least there were some ground rules in place. Maybe my mistake was failing to emphasize that when people start acting out, a mod needs to step in, hand out a few virtual slaps, move posts to where they actually belong, and then just sit back with a cold beer and a smile while reading thank-you notes from the ladies. It’s easy to get too cozy in that kind of laid-back atmosphere, and eventually, you just stop reacting—your reflexes get slow. Combine that with some personal stuff going on in my own life, and well, the results speak for themselves.

But then again... what massive contribution was there to moderate in this pile of garbage anyway? Just days of whining about spammers padding their post counts—stuff that should have been moved from the main garbage section over to Chatropic—or constant bellyaching about who’s feeling sick today and who isn't? Honestly, I made up for months of lecturing by spending an hour and a half skimming through posts, and it’s not like I stumbled onto anything fascinating; there's really nothing to say about how much value the users actually bring to this subforum. So, if you ask me, the real issue with Trash isn't a few images larger than 640p or a couple of unmoderated posts; it's the total lack of quality content.

Not to get too heavy here, but Trash needs maintenance from both sides—the moderation broom (or the sweeping brush, depending on how often you sweep) and the users who actually write decent or, well, less-decent posts. That’s why I think bringing on two new female moderators without actually getting people to engage on the site would just be moving air from one empty room to another. Everyone has their excuses for why they aren't posting, and the latest excuse is that the mods are inactive. Wouldn't it be a twist if things flipped and the mods were the ones everyone relied on for quality content?!?
Just write something, join the conversation, and honestly, even a local high school football coach could successfully moderate you guys.

We’ll just have to wait and see how this new thread plays out—hopefully without everyone veering off into random tangents—but if you ask me, I’m not feeling great about it.

Look, the original thread is working perfectly fine. Anyone who’s actually asked a question or tried to start a real discussion hasn't been ignored by a single soul. Sure, the vibe is a little informal—it's not some stuffy corporate boardroom, after all—but so far, nobody’s stepped up to complain.

There are two active threads about San Francisco running right now.
The one you’re pointing to is the way it is because I have to be extremely careful about when someone actually tries to talk about something that isn't just total off-topic nonsense.
I can certainly crack down on excessive off-topic chatter, but here's the thing—to separate the noise from the signal, there actually has to be a coherent main topic to begin with.
And honestly? That core subject is something the users themselves have to build.

"Look, Mom, it's analoglynx23 over on Reddit again... why is he doing this, Mom?"
"Because, honey, he's trying to rebuild the whole site—it's just practice for when they start building those massive suspension bridges out west!"
"Thanks for explaining, Mom. Now I can finally get some sleep without feeling like I need to go post on the CIA forums!"

Seth, lock this thing down while you can, before everyone starts swinging UPS cables at each other.

velvettiger10 said:I might as well weigh in here before I head off to get some peace and quiet.

Regarding those controversial threads about Reddit and Facebook, they honestly haven't served their purpose on this PDF for a long time now.
It was actually quite a while ago that analoglynx23 and I agreed we should pull that topic, and we were planning to wait until that milestone tenth-thousandth post, but I guess things just came to a head today.
The links piled up in that thread aren't even worth much anymore because most of those topics are total trash, and the whole thing has turned into a place where people just go to make fun of someone else—which really has nothing to do with what "trash" should be.
That thread would only still be worth keeping visible if we took the time to sort through the useful links and scrub out all the petty mockery, but that’s a massive job that hasn't been done yet.
It’s honestly a shame that whenever anyone mentions "trash," everyone immediately thinks of the Reddit thread; unfortunately, that seems to be the trend lately.

Anyway, moving on—and I don't mean to sound personal, trying to match your style here—but how many other threads on the trash section do you guys actually find interesting, and how many do you actually write or read besides that one Reddit thread?
How many threads have you started in the trash section? Do you have any actual ideas on how to make the whole concept better? Etc, etc, etc...

Now, I'm not trying to brag, but the threads for trash nicknames and trash home decor were my ideas, even if they were opened by people I coordinated with.
There are others, but that's not really important right now.

As for punishments, I'm of the opinion that on a PDF meant for entertainment, nobody should be playing big shot or acting like a drill sergeant.

Let's circle back to that legendary "Reddit" thread. If you miss it that much, feel free to start a new one in Off-topic or somewhere else, but it won't be staying in the trash section, at least not as long as I'm moderating there. No, I'm not making threats; I just don't want our entire trash section to be reduced to just that one thread while everything else gets ignored.
We'll let the old one stay as a memory, kept clean as a whistle.

Personally, the trash section was at its best when Vajli, Azriela, and the legendary Pero Perić were active, and then Kowa joined in, and so on, and so forth... I won't list everyone.
Back then, we were constantly dreaming up new ideas, and it was absolute chaos in the best way possible. 🙏 😢

If this huge uproar is happening solely because of that one specific thread, then maybe we don't need a trash section at all and we can just throw the whole thing away. 👎

So, the floor is yours, admins.

Oh, and analoglynx23 is backing me up on all of this, just so no one thinks I'm taking this too personally or that I'm worked up, because I'm really not. Life is actually treating me pretty well in all aspects right now. He's just being too lazy to write anything himself.😢

I’m still riding this absolute wave of euphoria—just in that total post-coital headspace after visiting the Pope—so, yeah... anyway.
I mean, let's be real—kings always have their own scribes. ☕

What are we even fighting about now? Seriously—we're all getting worked up over deleting a thread that’s been absolute trash for ages and was basically dancing on the edge of the rules anyway. Honestly, what a waste of energy.

So, regarding everything that’s been going down over on Reddit lately—let’s do a little honesty check, shall we? I want everyone to go ahead and race over to their own post history. Put your hand on your heart—or your chest, whatever's bigger—and be real with yourselves: looking back at the last few months, how many of those posts were actually meaningful contributions to the conversation, and how many were just straight-up trolling or mindless rambling? Surprised by your own tally? I thought so.

What dead accounts? What was supposed to be banned—well, it got banned. If we were actually going by the rules, out of 12 new posts every single day—which is a pretty respectable number, don't you think?—at least 8 of them would get tossed in the trash for being off-topic. That includes the old-timers who are supposedly full of a grain of wisdom, but let’s be real—they’re just trolling, just like always.

If the whole point of this entire circus is just to give someone a blacked-out username because they’re too chicken to face finals week—or maybe they just don't have anything better to do with their lives—then you really shouldn't have messed with my zen in the first place.

The king had spoken. Haugh.
Quick question in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Moved it.

San Diego already has three separate threads running on the PDF, and honestly, starting a fourth one would be pointless—it’d just turn into this messy soup of everything from the first three anyway.

Just a short one with milk—and honestly, that’s only if I’m actually drinking it for the caffeine kick rather than just for the sake of the ritual itself.

If the whole thing is more about the ceremony than the cup, then I'll probably just grab something else entirely.
feraltrucker5 said:The girls on Reddit are probably all at weddings right now—though I guess some of them might be busy dealing with a pregnant woman nearby. 😁

And don't forget that whole crew over at Fashion—they’re definitely part of this mess too.

feraltrucker5 said:So... forum users? Soccer? Cars? Is that really all there is to talk about around here? 🤔

I don't know much about soccer, but honestly, if you head over to the Car forums, it’s just a bunch of lunatics—you've got these kids popping up out of nowhere with their "pride and joy" looking like they crawled straight out of a backwoods redneck tuning shop, acting all high and mighty like they’re some kind of street icon instead of just... well, a local poser. And of course, it always turns into that same old, tired ego trip—just endless, petty bickering between Honda guys, VW enthusiasts, and everyone else trying to outdo each other. It's exhausting.
I’d say the guys over on the Politics sub are getting pretty militant lately—it's getting intense.

feraltrucker5 said:And most importantly—on which specific subreddit are both the girls and the guys acting like total psychos? If you ask me, it’s definitely the US—and honestly, I’ve got more than enough evidence to back that up. 😁

Classic—he really went there. Honestly, I can practically hear the eye roll from here. Typical..... 😬

If you’re looking for a collection of the absolute most unhinged individuals out there, just head over to PŽK or check out the Corner—it's basically a regular meetup spot for people who just love to show up and brag about how much they messed things up. 😁
Either take it somewhere else, or just dump it over on Reddit.

Amanda Morgan47 said:So, people are actually claiming they're psycho just because they're pregnant? Seriously? Give me a break. It’s like everyone suddenly loses their minds—or decides to pretend they have none—the second a woman finds out she's expecting. I mean, I remember my cousin back in Chicago went through this exact thing during her first pregnancy—hormones were all over the place, sure, but calling her "unstable" was a massive stretch. People love to jump to these wild conclusions whenever things get a little messy or emotional. It's just one of those weird ways people try to dismiss what's actually happening. 😂
Are you kidding me right now? Honestly... what a joke.

Have you ever actually wandered onto the Trudnjač subreddit? Like, really looked at it? Do you have any clue where all those weird little tickers, the excessive use of diminutives, and that whole specific way people write their posts actually comes from? It’s such a bizarre subculture.
I mean, come on—have you seriously never heard that pregnant women go through massive hormonal shifts? It’s like basic biology at this point. Honestly, it’s enough to make anyone lose their mind, let alone someone actually dealing with it...
Last year's thread by this same user was actually much better—honestly, I preferred it. 😁

Oh, please—stop acting like you’re some saint; we all know people without a conscience don't actually get a kick out of that kind of debauchery... it would be like being forced to eat nothing but Hershey bars every single day for a few thousand years straight. It just loses its edge. 😁

And let me be clear; you aren't going to squeeze me either, but if you're open to making a fair deal... well, who am I kidding? You? Playing fair? 😬

Look, if Mr. Evil doesn't have a clue what my actual worth is—what I cost to run, to maintain, whatever—then he’s nothing more than a total fraud. Just some cheap, knock-off imitation, like those low-rent junk pieces you see flooding the market from overseas. 😁

It’s usually those guys—you know the type—wearing nothing but black button-downs, unbuttoned just enough to show off their chest hair, sporting some tacky gold signet ring, a thin chain, and more often than not, a mustache.

First place takes the top spot.
On the second floor, second one.
It was on PBS—but I’m not calling it "the third channel" (I never have, and you know damn well I never will, Bob).
It was on FOX earlier.
And then you’ve got the local stations—those neighborhood staples—mixed in with all those massive, overseas networks that seem to broadcast from everywhere except right here.
Look, I honestly feel like any true American—someone who actually lives by their faith and puts in those brutal 16-hour shifts just to keep the lights on—needs to have this kind of discipline. I don't care if you're so bone-tired from work that you barely have the energy to stare at a screen, let alone catch a full broadcast... there still has to be some sense of order in a person's life! It’s about the principle of it, really. 😁

So, alright—let's see who actually knows their stuff without immediately reaching for their phone to Google it... does anyone here actually know what RTL stands for? Exactly? 🍿
