Folks, here is the proof that the whole Pixies versus Iron Maiden debate wasn't just some joke.🙂

Maybe someone actually pulled it off? 🤔

Look, I can't say for sure... though I do know Durutti Column released their first record wrapped in sandpaper—just the outer sleeve, obviously—specifically so it would shred every other vinyl in your collection.

Those punks, man. 😁

Heh... I’ve only got one, number 150 out of 300... let's try to get some airtime on MTV and keep them from falling apart—I've got my eye on a yacht someday. 😎 😁

Tyler Grant86 said:Has anyone actually managed to snag one of their "authentic" debut albums? I'm talking about that sold-out CD-R that never saw a proper reissue—though they did press 300 vinyl copies with handmade sleeves right before their tour, half of which they brought over to the US...

..and honestly, what kind of crazy person would actually hunt down 😎 🙄 ☕

for example, Iron & Wine - The Rooster Moans

The Thirsty Ear Festival, Vol. 5

April 13: Trans Am (USA)
April 14: Friends of Dean Martinez (USA)
April 15: Xiu Xiu (USA)
April 17: Mouse on Mars (Germany)
April 18: Chris Cacavas & Band (USA)
April 21: Just a Fire (USA — the new project from Fred Erskine, formerly of June of 44 and HIM)
April 23: Donnasumer (USA)
April 27: Lambchop (USA)
April 28: Faust (Germany)
April 30: Chicago Underground Trio (USA)
May 01: Lali Puna (Germany)

+ local favorites

Lambchop and Faust are set for the old cinema theater—which, frankly, turned out to be a surprisingly solid venue...

Are they doing any kind of festival passes? Looking at this lineup, I’m really only interested in one thing... nine shows total.😁

Like Birthday Party—deep in the woods.

I’ll consider it—if my bank account allows. March or April should be a pretty solid window for shows in NYC... though honestly, I’d much rather spend that same budget on three smaller gigs—say, Notwist, Xiu Xiu, and M. gira—than blow it all on one Femms show. Since Madison Square Garden is such a money pit, ticket prices will likely end up 30-$17 higher than they would at any other venue.

Beyond that... I’m still waiting to experience a single decent concert at that place. The negative energy radiating from Madison Square Garden is actually hard to believe—that venue is in desperate need of a serious Feng Shui exorcism. 😁

Anyway—just my thoughts.
The Morning Post...

...since we're talking about the US Open, I suspect we'll end up seeing Limp Bizkit at all these festivals—as for the rest, we'll probably have to make a run over to see The Ramones

Jason Rogers said:For heaven's sake—does the ticket price really matter that much? It's not like the Violent Femmes are playing around here every other weekend. 🙂

It hardly matters if it’s just a ticket—honestly. $67Because, let’s be honest—today, Femmsi just doesn't hold the same weight—unless you happen to be one of those hardcore, die-hard nostalgics.

I won't even get started on how Madison Square Garden is easily the most underwhelming venue for shows in NYC—honestly, it's a total letdown.

Just another early riser looking to get high before the sun's even up—it's become a bit of a ritual at this point.

redgull44 said:how can the 5th album have been out for nearly 2 years when Maladroit came out back in 2002? 😕

Both Green Day and Maladroit were recorded during the same era—it’s entirely plausible the fifth record was tracked at the same time too (I mean, after a 5 or 6-year hiatus, Rivers had plenty of time to churn out a massive pile of songs). Unfortunately, a high volume of tracks doesn't guarantee quality... if they'd just exercised a bit more restraint, we might have ended up with one stellar album instead of two mediocre ones—though even "mediocre" is generous, given their legacy.

Take "goat punishment" for instance—it totally blew. 🙂

Well, it’s been nearly two years since their fifth unmixed album started floating around the web... and honestly, after those last two disappointments, I haven't even felt like downloading it.

...but those first two 🙂

Steven Rodriguez6 said:Man, I’ve seen people on here claiming they listen to 20 or 30 albums a year—honestly, it feels like a total stretch, just trying to flex on everyone else by acting like they have this incredibly sophisticated taste—when really, most of them don't know a thing about real music 😕

Twenty to thirty albums a year? No way—that's just impossible. 👎

At the end of the day, those are just lists... though I guess the "Album of the Year" usually sits at number one. 🙄

And yeah, we actually DO know what good music sounds like... 😎

Nope—the guy was asking for "Run to You" just to mess with him... Ryan ended up kicking him out, and his security team refunded his ticket money
