redcrane28 said:I lost a tooth eating popcorn once. One unpopped kernel wedged itself right under a filling and shattered the whole thing into three pieces—two of them flew out instantly. I was absolutely reeling. It was the summer of '89, and the nearest decent dentist was probably halfway across Europe... I spent two weeks treating myself with straight whiskey. Lesson for the youth: DO NOT eat raw popcorn.
My best fall? At a corporate Christmas party, my heel snapped right at the peak of the night... I went down hard, sprawling out in front of all my bosses and the board members. They still tease me about it to this day. And the kicker? I wasn't even drinking that time; I was trying so hard *not* to embarrass myself.

Watch out for injuries out on those islands. The nurse in Prek has a terrible attitude and a massive mustache; honestly, she’s such a character that a hundred years ago she would've been in Barnum's circus or performing in some Parisian vaudeville show.

And the craziest wipeout: I once got my neck stuck through a hole in a playground slide over in a working-class neighborhood. For a second there, I think I felt what people feel when they're being hanged—but technically, it wasn't even a fall.

The absolute biggest nerds and morons in rock:

1. Moby
2. Beck
3. Rivers Cuomo
Zachary Bishop82 said:I honestly can't tell if this record is underrated. It feels like people either completely miss the point—treating them like some R.E.M. wannabe, which is totally wrong since I was actually there during their heyday and I don't just listen to The Beatles like some casual fan—or they see this album as a standalone 😍 masterpiece with a massive cult following that treats it like gospel... myself included...

Look, I’ve got nothing against The Beatles—unless you want a fight😠 🙂
but The Housemartins were one of the most overlooked legendary bands ever.
All you need to know is that they gave us The Lumineers and arguably the greatest genius in the indie scene, Norman Cook. That alone puts them in the hall of fame.
It’s tough to pin down exactly which albums fall into the "total flop" category, but these immediately come to mind:

The Pogues - Peace and Love😳
Bryan Ferry - Boys and Girls😁
If we’re deciding that every Velvet Underground record after their debut was a failure, then we might as well throw Loaded into that pile too.
The Police - Synchronicity
And now for the absolute garbage:🤮
David Bowie - Never Let Me Down
Man, when I first heard that one, it was my introduction to him, so I didn't even have anything else to compare it to.

if I were a German
and they were the resistance!

🙂 :halt: :auzvajs:

I was actually itching to comment on this in what is supposed to be the most democratic thread here:😛

The best German actor in the history of American cinema has passed away—honestly, a better German than the actual Germans.
I already lamented how mediocre Glenn Close was in Lordan Zafranović's Holiday Bitch, and don't even get me started on his role as Professor Manfred (another German).

Steve McQueen was at his absolute peak for me in Berković's "Rondo," specifically when he's talking about how he used to crack down on jazz back when he was a young Bolshevik.progression of jazz

I'll write more about it on my blog, but I can't right now because I'm stuck dealing with a literal fire at work.😠 😠

Robin Williams6 said:we aren't going to promote any lame foreign talent
we're sticking to the local stars:
Goldie Hawn, Meryl Streep, Hillary Clinton (who has a great figure in *For Luck You Need Three*), Julia Roberts, Anne Hathaway...
doesn't matter if they're less attractive, as long as they're American

Personally, I always found Glenn Close attractive (especially in Zafranović's "holiday bitch" where she played the lead)
Anne Hathaway is always a solid choice😁
Most American actresses are pretty; it feels like they enroll in acting academies based on their looks rather than actual talent. It’s rare to see an ugly girl in the industry
The ugly ones usually end up in government service👎 (with a few exceptions, of course)
Drago Britvić has passed away in Music ·
What a disaster of a season for the legends of pop. Runjić is gone, Britvić is out, and now Vic Vuk is basically hanging by a thread (honestly, what on earth was he thinking, dragging himself into Congress in the first place?)

honestly, this looks like a design made in a rush during a bathroom break🙂

Subtle dramatic tools used without being over the top. You’ve got this perfectly balanced symbolism of purification clashing against terminal illness, paired with effortless acting and dialogue that actually sounds human. It’s the kind of movie that forces you to think; it operates on such a high level that you just have to sit through it ten more times to catch everything.

I’m not sure if people caught the narrative bookends: the Kevin Spacey bit from American Beauty
and that final scene on the stretcher in the ER—it’s basically the beginning and end of "Carlito's Way"
The guy clearly went to school and learned how to pull off moves from the absolute masters. Which 🙂 pretty much proves he was a good student.

The greatest movie ever made:

I Love You (Matanić)
🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏

If anyone actually caught this on film, hit me up via PM. I’m paying well!

Look, I know this isn't a movie forum, but I can't just sit here:
The film is incredible—it perfectly captures that sense of hyper-intensity and meticulously crafted set design.
It stripped away all that overwhelming alienation you usually see in Japanese cinema and just worked.

Why don't you try acting out "Z" for me? 😂

I'm not limber enough to pull off an act like "Z"😠

I’m with everyone pointing out the Crowded House vibes here
I’m telling you, there’s no sign of They Might Be Giants
nor any Dream Syndicate
😕

and good luck to anyone trying to act out "discreet charm of the bourgeoisie" in a movie guessing game

The ultimate ways to absolutely wreck yourself🤮

1. Chugging massive amounts of cheap wine paired with endless bowls of peanuts and chips.🤮 🙂 Just a long, slow descent into misery.
2. Bottom-shelf vodka mixed with hookah—🙂 you’ll have a migraine lasting until 4:30 PM tomorrow, and honestly, neither the smell nor the taste will be worth it.
3. Homemade moonshine—it’s basically a genocide against your brain cells,😵 which will be praying for mercy by sunrise.
4. A heavy BBQ session combined with wine, beer, and liquor in "reasonable" amounts—assuming you don't pass out.🙂 You'll deal with catastrophic heartburn,🙂 and depending on the alcohol ratio, a high probability of disaster in the bathroom.🙂
5. Cheap, mass-produced spirits from brands like Smirnoff or Jack Daniel's, used in any combination.🙂 We still haven't fully researched the long-term damage these can do.😕

3. Milk
4. Hazelnut

Does anyone actually eat these things? It’s basically just the cheap junk they handed out during recess in elementary school.
All I can say is🙂
Alex Scott22 said:laughing... look at that insane rage😛

And... did you catch that 'golden ratio'? That whole shot looked way too staged for me. 😬

Cave buying toys? Unbelievable... Can't beat that...

Maybe I should just mention how the Concrete Worms from Chicago tried to visit the local zoo, but they got rained out...

Page and Plant were walking through Times Square back in February '98, right in the middle of those labor protests where the cops were beating down union workers and blocking them from entering the square.
So, on one side of the square, you had Page and Plant, and on the other, you had Vesna Pusić, Ivan Supek, and probably a few other local leftists.
And those guys were playing shows in America while watching the government trample over its own people🙂 and to top it off, they even had the Big Shots opening for them.😵

Caught you in action down in Key West... good grief. 😁

Remember when you went all "bear mode" on that hen just because you were trying to grab another one that was making a break for it from the coop? 🙏

I don't know how it happens, but my drinking sessions usually end up in the hall of fame of legendary benders.🙂
What am I supposed to do when I'm a total party animal?🙂

Honestly, I haven’t had a single sober realization either—not that I’ve ever actually met anyone while sober.🙄 I still remember how brutal the light feels when you walk from the patio at an Apple store into the building and suddenly realize what you're looking at in the mirror.🙂

It’s not like I haven't tried being sober; it's just that I usually end up drunk again before I can make sense of anything.🙂

1. To finally be 18
2. For The Ramones to hire me as their rhythm guitarist
3. To get a light rail line running out to Santa Monica

Man, look, at least two out of three actually happened—the first and third ones—and that second one? Honestly, it wasn't that far off.

Mercury Records at Aquarius? in Music ·
The sound quality was honestly way better than I expected👍
Plus, their stage presence was just next level😵

Easily one of the best shows of the season, hands down
