Anyone still running Windows 7? in Software ·
It shouldn't be an issue since you already have 11 installed—when you run the 9.0 C setup, it'll just grab those few specific files that are missing from your system. You might want to dig into the tweaks and config settings here, specifically regarding the image quality and textures—it’s possible some setting is cranked up too high and that's what's causing the crash: http://forums.steampowered.com/forum....php?t=2225829

Is this a legit copy or a cracked version?

Just try installing DirectX 9.0 C—it's entirely possible you're missing some random component somewhere in the stack.

Look, you didn't actually delete it—and honestly, you can't really "delete" it anyway—so that useless article above isn't helping anyone. DirectX 11 is baked right into Windows 7, just like how DirectX 10 is part of Windows Vista or DirectX 9 is built into Windows XP. Windows simply uses whatever DirectX features your specific graphics card is capable of handling; it has absolutely nothing to do with whether your game runs or not. You're looking in the wrong direction—the problem is definitely something else entirely.

No way, you can't really grab that—maybe you could try picking up this instead:

It really just boils down to how much cash you're willing to throw at this—honestly, there’s a massive price gap between the 19 and the 22-inch models. Besides, LCD screens are basically becoming relics at this point. This one is a solid, decent monitor without being an absolute rip-off:
Used PC builds: What are they worth? in Desktops ·
CPU - $100
Motherboard - $67
RAM - $83 (assuming it's 4 gb if I caught that right)
Power Supply - $33

Wait, where's the hard drive, the optical drive, the case...?
HP or Apple all-in-one printer? in Computer Peripherals ·
Wait, which HP and which Apple we're talking about here? Are you looking at an inkjet? Or a laser?

Look, if you aren't pushing full HD resolution, you'll probably be fine—but once you try running things at 1920x1080, that measly 1 GB of RAM is going to be a massive handicap for you.

With that kind of budget, finding an A3 laser printer is going to be a massive uphill battle—honestly, probably impossible unless you're looking at used industrial gear. You might be able to squeeze out an all-in-one like this one:

As for toner costs? Yeah, I'm totally in the dark on that one.

Yeah, look—the whole point of that cable is just to get the receiver away from all the other electronic junk—like power supplies, monitors, speakers, and whatever else—that might mess with the USB dongle's signal...
Motherboard dead? in Laptops ·
Look, if it won't even power on, we're talking a hardware failure—plain and simple. Take it to a different shop, preferably somewhere that actually knows what they're doing, instead of wasting your time with that moron who supposedly "flashed the BIOS."
Motherboard dead? in Laptops ·
Clearly, something is seriously wrong with the CPU cooling—the laptop just shuts itself down right after you boot it up because the processor is already overheating. Honestly, what kind of bottom-tier repair shop did you take this to?

By the way, when you're hunting for drivers, make sure you check if they're for a 32-bit or 64-bit OS—it doesn't matter if you're running Home, Pro, or whatever else is out there, the architecture is what counts.
Soundcard Needed! :) in Hardware ·
Yeah, it’s probably just a connector issue—likely they didn't want to deal with the headache of a larger PCB just to squeeze in one extra port. You can just grab an adapter like this to plug in your TOS-link cable:

At the end of a USB Range Extender, you’ve still got a wireless receiver—basically just that tiny little dongle you're already used to. You really only need a Range Extender if, say, some electrical interference coming off your PC's power supply starts messing with the dongle's signal; in that case, you just plug in the Range Extender to move the receiver far enough away from the hardware to clear up the noise.

Look, you've got all that Asus gear right there—roughly 520 bucks if I recall correctly—$177: http://www.asus.com/Sound_Cards_and_...specifications

Joseph Grant70 said:Look, honestly? I’d probably want to strangle them—but here I am, three years into owning this rig and I still don't quite have the guts to go digging too deep into the BIOS. I played around with some software overclocking at 3.4GHz for a bit, but let's be real—it just doesn't hit the same way.

The only actual difference between messing with your BIOS and using some basic Turbo software is that the BIOS actually gives you control over everything. Turbo is basically the "for dummies" version. 🙂

I wouldn't sweat the bottleneck situation too much—just keep an eye on your CPU usage while you're actually playing. If you see it sitting pinned at 100% constantly, then yeah, you might have a bottleneck on your hands, though honestly, it could just be that the game is poorly optimized—which happens more often than it should. Also, that processor is actually pretty decent for overclocking, so you can easily bump up the clock speeds without much effort; hitting 3.2 GHz would probably do the trick. As long as your CPU usage stays under that 100% mark, you're golden.

Honestly, you’re better off just heading down to Best Buy and checking out the monitors they have on display in person.

it would be a hell of a lot easier if I could just dim the screen like you do on a laptop, but hey, you just make do with what you've got, right? 😁
