Frozen 2 (2019) in Movies ·
ironcanyon7 said:It’s honestly beautiful and hits you right in the feels. I feel like it really prioritizes the bond between sisters instead of just following that old cliché where some prince or queen has to swoop in and save the day.

I was actually thinking about that very thing the other day, back when I first sat my daughter down to watch Snow White. 😵

urbannomad14 said:I actually really loved it. I’ve watched the first one a million times because my little girl was absolutely obsessed with it, just like every other kid out there... she was only about 4 back then, but now she's almost 11 and she totally dug the sequel too. Elsa is just stunning; honestly, seeing her let her hair down feels just as powerful to me as that moment in the first movie when she builds the ice palace. The soundtrack is top-tier, and even though I haven't sat down with the original version yet, the American dub is a total hit.

It didn't disappoint me at all, and I'd say it's an absolute must-watch for both parents and kids alike.

I agree, it’s excellent, though quite different from the first installment. For instance, I found the visuals absolutely breathtaking. It's a beautiful animation to experience. The songs are fantastic... while it'll be hard to top a phenomenon like Let It Go, I found Show Yourself to be incredibly moving. The American voice acting also exceeded my expectations. Honestly, I'm planning on taking my daughter to the theater again (I'm the crazy mom following my kid's lead here). 😵
Angela Ramirez3 said:A woman asked me yesterday if I’d actually planned on getting pregnant.
When I told her it was completely unplanned, she had the nerve to ask why I didn't just go get an abortion.
And now everyone is predicting a boy because "you have that specific glow and your skin looks amazing, which only happens with boys." Apparently, if it's a girl, you'll just look terrible. 🤦

I won't even touch the first part; I find it hard to believe anyone would ever say something like that to a pregnant woman.🙄
As for the rest, it’s laughable. I've heard plenty of those theories before, and none of them hold any water. Personally, I'm waiting for a girl, and my skin has been flawless. Not a single breakout throughout the entire pregnancy. 🎉
Jamie Gonzalez5 said:There is one topic that likely irritates many pregnant women: the constant barrage of questions about how much weight they've gained, alongside unsolicited commentary on their bellies and general appearance.

Exactly. Those standard questions and remarks are incredibly grating.
At this point, I’m starting to wonder if the issue lies with me and my pregnancy hormones, because everything seems to irritate me lately. 😵
But what really gets to people most? 😂 For me, it’s the unsolicited advice and everyone acting like an expert. Honestly, even the forums and news sites can be exhausting. I follow a few pregnancy blogs on Facebook, and the comment sections are just endless fights. It’s always something—which diapers to buy, then suddenly it’s a debate over feeding methods. Everyone wants to be the "Mother of the Year," and the amount of people who feel the need to lecture others is unbelievable. Instead of supporting one another, we end up treating each other like enemies.😵
Kenneth Lewis5 said:Just Smile, tell her thanks for the input, and then go right ahead and do exactly what you planned to do anyway. It isn't worth the energy to argue..

True enough. My hormones are acting up a bit, I know. 😵
So, here comes the mother-in-law advice.
First, she was trying to convince me that drinking beer during pregnancy is actually beneficial for expectant mothers. Now, she’s suggesting that if I run into breastfeeding issues, I should just give the baby cow's milk because that’s what she did for her own kids.
I'm losing my mind 😲
Why can't I read user posts? in Forum Help! ·
Here’s the reasoning:
I have to admit, I’ve started distancing myself from the Pregnancy forums. 😂
While I admire how everyone here shares their experiences, I’ve realized it just triggers unnecessary panic and stress for me. Every time I read something, it sends me into a spiral of worry and overthinking. My husband has already threatened to ban all forum browsing during my Pregnancy 😂
On top of that, I find myself obsessing entirely over this baby. It’s becoming too much, especially since I’m constantly scrolling through these sites and portals. I need to talk about literally anything else; I can't handle focusing solely on this Pregnancy anymore. Am I really the only one feeling this way? 😢
A friend of mine, who happens to be a doctor, gave me the same advice: get off the forums and stop looking for medical advice online. 😬
Douglas Baker2 said:Honestly, I can't decide which group bugs me more right now: the people who dismiss everything with a "you'll see..." or the ones who mock my worries and act like I'm overreacting to every little thing. I'm basically mentally preparing for an apocalypse during those first few weeks, 😁 though I mostly just picture myself wandering around the house in my underwear for 24 hours straight with a baby attached to my chest.

Everyone is just getting on my nerves, 😁

Not to mention those girls at the Target in Times Square who have been trying to sign me up for their rewards program for two months straight. They write you down in some notebook that nobody ever looks at again, I bet, and then you wait for them to call you—except they never do—so you end up trekking halfway across the city just to have them sign you up all over again. 😠

I'm exactly the same way.😵

Everything anyone tells me is annoying. Maybe the problem is just me.🤣

I ordered a cake for 160 guests that ended up costing about $200.
Everything gets significantly cheaper once you head out of the city center. We picked up our cake and pastries from a small family-run bakery in a rural area just outside of Gary; they run a local farm and a small shop right there. I’ve actually mentioned them on this forum before, and I even recommended them to someone else who told me she was thrilled with the results.
The cake itself was simple—chocolate with frosting and some red accents. If anyone is interested, I can post a photo of it.

Timothy Ruiz said:I just caught up on these messages. It’s a relief to see a solid recommendation here too. 🙂
How did you guys handle the booking—was there a formal contract or a deposit required?
Also, did they size the cake based on the guest count? What flavors did you end up going with?

We started by sampling their pastries—we grabbed a tasting box and told them we'd be in touch. Once we decided to go with them, I insisted on meeting in person. The owner told me it wasn't necessary and that we could handle everything over the phone, but I preferred to iron out the details face-to-face. I wanted a professional recommendation on quantities and to show them a photo of the exact cake design I wanted. Dealing with things in person is always more reliable than an email or a call. Plus, we had extra treats to hand out, and since they carry branded packaging, I wanted to pick out some boxes myself (they had a few samples; I think we went with the ones featuring white roses) 😁
They are incredibly straightforward people. We settled everything in seconds. The owner took down our info, and then, right before the wedding, I gave them a quick call just to confirm. I tend to overthink things, so I wanted to double-check their delivery route and make sure the counts were perfect. 😵
As for the pastry selection, you can certainly customize it. They have a standard wedding assortment, and I actually liked how much variety they offered, though we specifically asked them to leave out certain items we didn't care for 😬 ).
Regarding the cake, we estimated the size based on the number of guests. It was chocolate, no walnuts.
If I recall correctly, we settled the full payment after the event.
I'll send the rest via DM 🙂

Timothy Ruiz said:Has anyone here ever ordered wedding desserts or a cake from Sweet Tooth over by Columbus?
They seem incredibly affordable, and I’ve heard nothing but good things from people who used them for events. Apparently, they offer delivery, so I was wondering if anyone has actually had them deliver all the way out to Washington, D.C., and what that experience was like?

They deliver everywhere. 🙂
I used them for weddings before; they're affordable, and the feedback was consistently positive. Everyone said the desserts were excellent.

wanderingharbor39 said:Man, oh man, those prices are just wild, right? Like, seriously, it feels way too expensive for what it is. I mean, have you guys even bothered to look around elsewhere? Maybe if you scouted some other spots, you could actually find something more reasonable, even if you had to factor in the delivery costs or whatever. It makes me wonder, like, what do standard cakes even go for in Chicago? Just your basic, classic ones? Down where I am, we can get pastries for about $20/lb, and the classic cakes usually run around $40/lb (at least at the place I used for my last big order)

True, it's cheaper in other areas. Where I live (Des Moines), pastries are only 50-$20/lb.

A magnificent film. It’s truly a shame they didn't walk away with even a single Oscar Wilde.

I find the contrast between Martin and Piholen, which runs through the entire film, quite compelling.

"I want you to know, I forgive you." Sixsmith reacts with predictable shock, questioning how such forgiveness could come so easily. Philomena’s response? "Who said it was easy?" She follows it up with a firm declaration: "But I don't want to hate people. I don't want to be like you."

It looks like we don't have a dedicated thread for this movie yet.

The story is based on Martin Sixsmith's book, 'The Lost Child of Philomena Lee,' which chronicles Philomena Lee's fifty-year search for her son.
It earned four Oscar nominations.

I was actually pleasantly surprised by this one. I’d love to see it take home at least one Oscar, though the competition this year is pretty stiff.
To be honest, the film hit me quite hard emotionally.
The casting is excellent. Judy Dench 👍

I don't have much to add; for the most part, I find myself agreeing with everyone here. Jared and Matthew absolutely earned those Oscars. What incredible transformations from both of them. They are truly exceptional actors.

I hadn't given Matthew much credit as an actor before this, so this was a massive, welcome surprise.
Overall, the film caught me off guard... honestly, it’s better than most of the other Oscar nominees this year.

Oh right, and a nod to Garner as well. Though she felt pretty insignificant and unnecessary. 🤷
August: Osage County (2013) in Movies ·
Hello. It might not be an Oscar contender, but I found the film quite pleasantly surprising. Some might find the pacing slow, but this kind of drama really worked for me. The two hours just flew by.
Hats off to Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts 👍
Groundhog Day (2013) in Movies ·
This was a lovely little movie to unwind with on a Sunday afternoon. 🙂
If you want to nitpick, sure, there are a few plot holes—as you'd expect with any time-travel flick—but it’s perfectly fine for a single viewing if you just want to sit back and smile during the credits... truly wonderful. 🙂
The Exorcist (2012) in Movies ·
Watched it today. It’s fine if you just need to kill some time, I suppose, but calling it a "gripping horror" is a stretch. It felt pretty much like everything else out there lately.
