Never Back Down [2008] in Movies ·
If you’re actually into martial arts movies, you absolutely have to check out Redbelt. I watched Redbelt first and then went straight into Never Back Down, and let me tell you—that second one was just pathetic. It was so incredibly full of clichés, honestly just some cheap flick made for kids. But Redbelt? Same vibe, all that MMA and Jiu-Jitsu stuff, but it is ten times better. A genuinely great sports drama.

IMDb - Redbelt
Well, that’s a fair question... honestly, I’ve been scratching my head over the same thing more times than I care to admit. It probably just comes down to those high-end, top-of-the-line cameras being used....

Sure, everything checks out on paper, but I wouldn't go so far as to say they've pulled off 3,000 matches in their careers. It's more like three hundred before you even start getting tired.

Who are the GOATs of fighting? in Martial Arts & Combat Sports ·
It’s a foolish question, really, because it all depends on which discipline we're talking about here.
In Taekwondo, the Koreans were always the dominant force—and if my memory serves me, they still hold that crown.
When it comes to IBJJF, the Brazilians are absolutely untouchable, even though Americans are starting to close the gap.
As for the UFC, you see a massive influx of Brazilians, but then you've got the Russians and everyone else moving in too... etcetera, etcetera.

Taekwondo or karate? Honestly, both are fantastic options for women. Though, if I’m being totally honest—and maybe a little biased here—TKD might be the better bet. I’ve definitely noticed more fit, toned girls gravitating toward Taekwondo than over in the karate circles. Just an observation! :-D

Hey, does anyone know if there's a website that lists when the Ultimate Fight tournaments are happening over in Vegas?

2. Why such a negative take on USA Taekwondo? (I honestly think you're a bit off base there)
3. What's the deal with the merger between World Taekwondo Federation and the International Tennis Federation?? (You definitely don't have a clue about this one😁 )

1. World Taekwondo, specifically a champion in forms. Not talking about sparring at the academy.😬
2. Look, I've been training for ten years, so I figure I’m somewhat qualified to weigh in here. As far as a sport goes? It's great. Fantastic conditioning, flexibility, all that jazz. But as something actually effective... well, not really. I mean, sure, it *can* be effective, but it's all very loose and conditional.
It's fine for, say, girls or kids.
3. No clue. I haven't been involved in that world for 5 or 6 years now.

Oh, please. You are dead wrong on that one.

So, I'm looking for a martial art—and it doesn't necessarily have to be a competitive sport—that blends striking with takedowns and grappling. I need something that actually works on the street, specifically training that covers defending against multiple attackers and handling weapons like knives, clubs, sticks, and whatever else comes your way. My first thoughts were Krav Maga, since it's been field-tested in real-world scenarios, or maybe Ninjutsu, given how aggressive its approach can be.
But since there isn't a single decent school for either of those around here, I'm starting to lose motivation, which sucks because I was really getting hyped up for this.😎 😛

Maybe you should just stick to eating burgers; don't go touching any beer yet, you're only 15.

🤣 🤣 Burgers are terrible, but the beer? That might be okay.😬

Look, you've got Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. There's a Gracie Barra academy with a purple belt instructor, and if I recall, there's an Alliance gym too, though their coach is just a blue belt. You should go give it a shot; once you get hooked on BJJ, it’s incredibly addictive.

Man, I hear about people training all over the place just for fun, but this other guy? Not at all. It’s clear these dudes aren't doing any real work, yet they still jumped straight into the cage—completely unlike the "armchair experts" you see cluttering up this forum.

Absolute garbage. Total nonsense. Just complete and utter rubbish! kaže:
It’s still showing up as "Registered User"... Faster! Come on, move it along! It's taking forever!

This guy has some serious issues... and what’s even worse? He’s actually trying to fix them on internet forums. Honestly, if someone like a total hack were to write about you, they could have a field day... especially considering those three or four "careers" of yours that started with such fanfare only to end in a complete and utter disaster.

😲 😲 😲 I just saw what he posted over on that other thread—you know, the one he started himself? Honestly, I'm still processing it. It’s just... well, it's a lot. 😲 I mean, I’m seriously asking here—is everyone around here just losing their damn minds lately? Is it just me, or is this whole place turning into a total circus of lunatics? Honestly, it feels like every time I log on, I'm surrounded by absolute crazies. It’s getting ridiculous! 😱 🙂

but is there a wrestling club in Indianapolis

So, you're based in Indianapolis?
Hmm... well, first things first, you really need to figure out what actually appeals to you—are you more into striking, or do you prefer grappling, throws, and all that stuff?
I'm not entirely sure about the specific wrestling scene in Indianapolis😕 But look, you've got Jewish Clubs in the area, which is somewhat similar, except they wear kimonos. It’s mostly throws, chokes, and such. You also have Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu available in Indianapolis. That's my top recommendation, though I honestly don't know if they have anyone in your age group. It's a lot like judo, just with way more ground work.
As far as striking goes, from what I gather, there's Taekwondo, Karate, and Kickboxing.
If I had to pick one for you, I'd go with Kickboxing.
