Old threads

But look, when you're talking about the trauma of losing a friend... that kind of thing doesn't just expire. It doesn't matter how much time passes. Not even if we're living in the year 2196... 🙂
Feel free to start a new thread if you're looking to dive deeper into this...

It really matters, because people end up quoting those ancient posts and dragging themselves into these endless debates... just trying to force some kind of interaction that isn't even there anymore...
The most aggressive example of this happened a while back, when someone decided to dig up some ancient thread and start arguing with a user who hasn't even been active on the forum for a year and a half...
Why even let a conversation like this get out of hand in the first place?
Christian Taylor3 said:In other words, why on earth would a new post—assuming it’s actually a fresh take or a new experience—be subject to getting flagged by the moderators?... 🤷
It really just depends on the context. If we’re talking about a single post within one specific thread, I’ll just shut the whole topic down and call it a day... peace and quiet at last. But if the same person is jumping around and reviving five ancient threads in the span of a single hour? Yeah, that warrants a warning. You have to let them know that's not how this works...
Christian Taylor3 said:By the way... The eternal mystery... It’s called Google, and honestly, that’s exactly how most people end up stumbling onto threads like this in the first place...
Look, I honestly have no idea how anyone even manages to dig up a thread about cellulite from all the way back in 2003...
Could you please explain what that actually means? Exactly. I was Googling earlier, trying to dig up that old thread from back in 2006—the one titled "I'm feeling sad"—about that friend who passed away...
