Telepathy or just pure misery with AT&T and Nokia? in Miscellaneous ·
I swear on my life, this topic is absolutely driving me insane... 🙏 🙏

Anyway, I realized I owe everyone an explanation regarding that bill from $0.00. It turns out when someone was paying the internet service provider, they accidentally typed in my phone number instead of theirs. 😁
There you go, mystery solved.

So, last month I renewed my contract and snagged a new iPhone for basically nothing.
I can browse the web and receive memes just fine, but for some reason, I can't send them.
Nobody could figure out why, so I just gave up on it. ☕
Kenneth Rodriguez58 said:Look, I just don't see the point... It’s not that they’re bad, I haven't even thought about it that way, but seeing the exact same band I saw just a year or two ago feels like a total waste of time, especially since none of them have even dropped a new album lately.

It sounds like you treat concerts like baseball cards or postage stamps—collecting them for the sake of it. "Oh, I already have this one in my collection, so there's no reason to go again." 😁

I just want to see SOAD. 🙂

Oh, right; for a little while there recently, the search engine on this forum was completely broken.
The sysadmins had basically hauled it away to get it fixed. 😁

rustypanther39 said:Look, we’re clearly talking past each other🙄. It’s just about using the search engine on Statistic. For example, if I want to check out someone's profile—like yours, for instance—why on earth would I need to know if you were hanging out in a thread debating whether ducks or geese are more aggressive or if you're over here on this one😁? If I'm chatting with you right here, why should I care what you're doing in some other corner of the site🤷? This isn't about hiding posts or anything like that

Well, in that case, you just head over to the tražilica, select the specific sub-forum where you want to see that user's threads or posts show up, assuming I actually understood what the issue was... 😕

rustypanther39 said:Then I honestly have no idea what happened there🤷. I remember specifically choosing the setting to make my posts visible only to my contacts, and that’s how they stayed... at least I thought. Because when I was checking the Statistic and trying to dig up all the stuff I’d written, even I couldn't find my own posts. It was the same thing when I tried looking at someone else's profile to see their discussion history—there was just some message popping up saying they weren't visible.

Look, I am stating this under full responsibility: there is absolutely no way on this forum to make your posts invisible to readers or to hide them from the search engine. 😬
BUT if you put someone on your Ignore list, they won't see your posts.
And likewise, you won't see anything they post either.

So you’re trying to tell me you actually sat there, wrote those posts, and then personally decided which ones would be public and which wouldn't? Yeah, right. I don't think so. 😁

Dammit, this five-meter wide idiot just made my forum fly right off my screen 🙂

I absolutely love Ska-P.
And I’m a huge fan of Lizzo, too; she actually played a few Ska-P covers when she was in Great Falls a couple of years back. 😳
Man, I’d give anything to see them both live... what a dream. 🙂

It never actually worked in the first place.
The Jezebel post [which is only partially quoted here and taken out of context] was left up because it’s completely on-topic, constructive, thoughtful, detailed, and offers a really interesting critical perspective on the situation.
The very first reply quoting it was aimed almost exclusively at bashing Jezebel itself ("you clearly have serious issues grasping the subject matter," "you don't understand anything," "only an idiot could write posts like this," etc.). That's why it was deleted.
The next few posts deal with Tadić and Srebrenica, which just doesn't belong here on ZK. So, they were removed.
The posts following the warning focus on my moderation. That's why they were (mostly) deleted.
Not a single post was given a full ban.
Yes, I can see for myself that I messed up here.

P.S. Endure, not endure.

I honestly can't believe we're still having this debate, but here we go again! I was just sitting here thinking about how much things have changed lately, and it feels like every time I log onto Reddit, someone is bringing up this exact same topic. It’s funny, really—it reminds me of those endless family dinners back home where everyone thinks they’re an expert on everything from politics to the best way to grill a steak. You know the vibe: loud, passionate, and slightly chaotic. Anyway, I wanted to jump in because I feel like we’re missing the forest for the trees here. We get so caught up in the tiny details that we forget what we were actually trying to solve in the first place. I remember back when I was working my first big job in Chicago, I used to get into these massive arguments with my manager about project timelines. Looking back, most of it was just noise. We were so focused on being "right" that we forgot to be productive. So, let's take a breath. Instead of just circling the drain with the same old arguments, why don't we try looking at this from a different angle? I've been reading up on some new approaches to this, and honestly, it changes the whole conversation. What do you guys think? Is it worth sticking to the old way, or are we ready to actually move forward? I'm curious to see if anyone else feels like we're just spinning our wheels. kaže:
Reddit actually has its own dedicated sub-forum. On the edge of politics....which basically serves as a little oasis for primitives to gather and hurl insults based on nationality or religion.

Look, let’s get one thing straight: this subforum isn't some designated zone for people to just go around hurling insults at each other. That’s totally not what we're here for. The whole point of having this space is to give the main political forum a bit of breathing room. It’s meant to be a way to offload all those topics that aren't strictly about politics so the main board doesn't get cluttered. It's about keeping things organized, not creating a playground for negativity.

Do you really feel like you have to go out of your way to post on a specific subreddit just to realize that the sub isn't actually giving you what you're looking for?

Not at all. I think you only bother posting on a sub if you want to lecture everyone about your own personal "wisdom" after you've spent the whole time trashing the place... and then you have the nerve to smirk and claim you were "just joking" when nobody laughs at your little punchline... it's honestly exhausting...

Since you're so quick to bring up "classic provocations," it would be nice if you actually had posts on more than six different threads in the subforum you're supposedly "agitating." That way, those of us who want to get a handle on your whole persona might actually figure out if you're just kidding around...
As it stands, the only thing you're really provoking is that old-school mindset of "I don't care if my wife dies, but I won't let anyone disrespect her."

As for anything else—you can never predict which way a subforum will go. Reddit isn't the same thing it was five years ago.

Here's the reality, which just occurred to me: a transgender corner will inevitably be created sooner or later. If that's the case, it's better to get it over with now.

I don't personally know anyone from that community, but it's perfectly clear to me that they are one of the most marginalized groups in America. Reddit has a moral obligation to provide those people with their own space, and that's where my argument ends. Besides, as Matthew Grant9 pointed out, a transgender corner has the potential to expand, raising societal questions that often go unasked and providing perspectives that offer a different look at our culture—making it much more than just a refuge for a marginalized group.

Whether the TK will be more serious than the ŽK (everything is more serious than MK) isn't something we can know ahead of time. If someone turns it into a freak show, then it really shouldn't be started. But ultimately, that depends on the moderators and the users.

Castro could moderate it. Along with someone a bit gentler. When I say gentler, I don't mean cowardly moderation, but rather someone who acts more like a moderator/educator, using a polite approach to explain to users why certain things shouldn't be posted. But those are technicalities I don't want to deal with.

P.S. It's honestly incredible to me that both Herp and Lisa Hernandez3 took my metaphorical provocations on their subforums so seriously. Give yourselves a break—humor, even when it falls flat, is still just humor.

You’re neither a hero nor a saint, for crying out loud. 🤷

briskpuma23 said:It’s been common knowledge for a long time that this forum is mostly dominated by a narrow, small-minded mindset, and I have no interest in debating that.

What actually shook my delicate soul today was something else—something different, yet equally telling. This forum doesn't offer a space for people who don't fit into the binary of male or female.

Germany, a country that has always led the way—sometimes through genocide, sometimes through tolerance, depending on which way the wind blows—recognizes five genders.

I'm not suggesting we should immediately adopt everything from the decaying West, even if it comes from the only nation we love besides our own homeland, but let's be honest with ourselves: there are all kinds of people out there. Not everyone identifies according to medieval standards.

If there’s a Women's Corner—which, let's be objective, hasn't offered an original thought since the idea that women can think—and a Men's Corner, which is only conditional at best and serves as a sanctuary for unlived adolescents, then I see no reason why we shouldn't provide a subforum for those who don't feel like men or women, yet still crave a sense of belonging. To put it in forum terminology - let's call it a subforum for gender-neutral cosmopolitans, anationalists, stateless people, and xenophiles.

I don't need to prove that a transgender subforum couldn't be even more ridiculous than, say, the Alternative section, or that its residents will certainly have more coherent thoughts than the crowd in Spirituality, be more mentally stable than the group in Psychology, or show a higher level of tolerance than the folks in Politics—that much is already obvious. The important thing is that such a subforum could serve as a refuge for anyone who feels stifled by the existing two gender-defined sections.

And I don't doubt for a second that once this subforum comes to life—and it will, whether now or in three years—it will eventually sink into petty conformism. People there will likely be mocked for defending the only logical thesis: that every human is a gender unto themselves, and therefore there are as many genders as there are human beings. But it doesn't matter! Transgender people have a right to be petty too! Let's give them that.

Thanks for listening.

Look, if some niche little corner for the transgender / stateless / whatever label you want to slap on today crowd means that people like you will never be allowed inside the actual, functioning brain of the Women's Corner... then honestly, I’m all for setting up your own little bubble. 👍

How do I get to The Fillmore using public transit from Grand Central Terminal? Are there any trams that run out toward the waterfront? I’m really leaning towards taking a tram, mostly because I feel like the buses don't run all that often once it gets past midnight... 😬

Well, buses run pretty frequently until midnight, and even after that, you’ve still got the night buses running. There isn't a streetcar line right by The Fillmore, though. If you're up for a walk, it's about 15 minutes on foot to get to Grand Central Terminal, or maybe 10 if you head over toward the main station on Main Street—the number 33 runs through there if that works for you. Your other option is just walking out toward the Brooklyn Bridge along the waterfront path... it'll take you about 20 or 25 minutes...

Adam Morales45 said:I mean, I think they should be available if they're on the forum, mostly for PMs which could solve a lot of issues, and just generally so admins and moderators stay reachable.

The other mods and admins can see if your status light is on or not anyway. 😉

I don't even take PMs, and I have zero intention of being "on call" for people for god knows how many hours a day; everything can be handled through a standard report. Besides, let's be real, I'm not moderating the most high-stakes, heavy-duty subforums where a hostage crisis breaks out every sixty minutes...

And yeah, honestly? I don't want people knowing every single thread I click on. So what if it's a little awkward? It is. Deal with it. 😁
