No, it's more about having a sense of space and timing. 🙂
I don't need Comcast to tell me whether it was a goal or not. It's pretty obvious if you actually bother to look.

😁

He’s a legend, really. Five World Cups with five different national teams across four continents. I guess you could say the guy has seen it all. 🙂
Since we’ve already gone back and forth on which players we value most, let’s see what everyone thinks about managers.

Just speaking purely from my own perspective right off the bat, Elvis Presley stands out—you can clearly see the ambition and the expertise there. Looking at domestic options, I’d also say Joe Karacic, Bogdan Bogdanović, Dragan Petković, and even Pamić, though he is a bit of a contrarian. 🙂

As for international names, I can't ignore José Mourinho. He has that arrogant streak that seems perfectly suited for a good old-fashioned shouting match, but he’s an incredible coach; you can tell just by looking at his trophies and track record. Then there's Zdeněk Zeman, though more for his football philosophy than anything else.

Still, for the long haul, Tomislav Ivić remains my number one choice. 👍

I definitely don't have any plans to watch AC Milan or Juventus anytime soon, even if they made it to some random final.

Yes, Godfather! 🙂
Horror movieology! in Movies ·
I should probably bring up Cannibal Holocaust too. Some people claim it isn't actually a horror movie, but IMDb says it is. I guess if you look at the English definition of horror—meaning terror or dread—then there’s plenty of that in Cannibal Holocaust.
I was reading about that Chinese film Man behind the sun being pretty similar in style. Has anyone seen it and want to weigh in?
The Godfather: Part II in Movies ·
I have a question about the first movie. At the start, Michael Corleone seems totally uninterested in the mafia business—he basically says, "That's my family, not me"—but then he suddenly changes his mind and dives headfirst into the family "business." It feels especially weird when he volunteers to take out those two guys. I guess his transformation happened way too fast without enough buildup. Does anyone else feel that way?
I suppose his father, Don Vito, getting hurt might be the motive and the trigger, but still...

David Phillips said:Rugby was always my number one sport.
Back in the day, and even now, I pretty much only watch it if I actually make it out to the games.

The other sports don't really interest me to watch, though I used to go to them more just for the atmosphere and the fans.

Rugby! 🙏 🙏 🙏

There isn't a single rugby club in the Los Angeles area or anywhere near it. 😢
Here’s my picks for March:

USA:

Best player: Mitu (not sure who else, just going by fan vibes)
Best club: Washington, D.C.
Best coach: Karačić
Best match: Indianapolis vs. Los Angeles Dodgers, 2-2 draw
Best goal: Hrvoje Vukojević playing for Slaven against Zadar, a volley from about 25 yards straight into the top corner! 🙏

I don't really feel like putting together a lineup, or looking at Foreign leagues either. 👋>
Donna Nelson23 said:What's an ideal homegrown lineup in a 4-4-2? I guess nobody here actually plays it successfully.

Seattle? They run a 4-4-2, sometimes a 4-3-3. It's just not really that kind of philosophy.

Regarding this "alleged" return of Ronaldo to Inter Milan, the fans made it pretty clear yesterday with a banner that they aren't interested in that kind of solution.

Honestly, just ignore all those transfer rumors. 🙄
velvetcrane85 said:I guess he doesn't know if Muhren was actually the second oldest, since Morten Olsen played back then and he was born in '49. But whatever, the point is old man Muhren set up Van Basten for that legendary volley from the corner against Dasayev.

Actually, Olsen and Peter Shilton were both '49. Hard to say who's older. 🤔

That goal by Van Basten is definitely the most beautiful in the history of the European Championship. 🙏
velvetcrane85 said:Van Aerle, Van Tiggelen, Muhren, Vanenburg, Wim Kieft, Wouters, Erwin Koeman. Uh, just some old dusty record gathering dust at home.

I guess I still remember those albums from when Van Aerle and the keeper were both there. There was that Black goalkeeper back then—it felt pretty strange to me at the time. 😁 So, you've got Sonny Silooy, Hans Gillhaus, and Aron Winter... then there's Arnold Muhren, who I think was the second oldest player in the tournament, born in '51. And of course, the grandpa of the group was Peter Shilton! 👍
I guess people didn't really view the Netherlands as favorites back then. They hadn't been to the World Cup 1986, and I'm not entirely sure about their standing during the European Championship 1984 or even the World Cup 1982. They were basically just a new team.

SAN FRANCISCO 1856 – BELLAGIO
KAMEN INGRAM – TAMPA
IOWA – LA GALAXY
CHICAGO – INDIANAPOLIS
LA GALAXY – INTER MIAMI CF
INTER MIAMI CF – PORTLAND TIMBERS

Which one looks like a boring derby, and which ones might actually be good games with plenty of goals? 😬

Chicago vs. Indianapolis is the only one worth watching. That's what they should be broadcasting. 😲

Black Knights said:Fair enough. 🙄 I honestly think watching New York City FC - Los Angeles FC can be way more interesting than Los Angeles Galaxy - New York Red Bulls. At least for me. Derbies usually just mean everyone’s on edge, lots of cheap fouls, broken play, and zero goals.

I guess I agree. If the Galaxy and Red Bulls play to a 0:0 draw, everyone's going to talk about how Patrick Vieira elbowed someone or whatever. But if, say, Orlando City SC and Seattle Sounders FC play an eight-goal thriller where Orlando comes back from 1:4 to 4:4 in the last ten minutes—which actually happened recently—nobody cares. You never know when you'll stumble onto a great game. Except maybe in Italy; there, you already know it's going to be a mess. 😁
