The catch is that Sharice has this deal with a LensCrafters over on Water Street, so they basically make sure you don't buy lenses anywhere else. They won't even give you your prescription or lens type in writing. Instead, you just go to the shop on Water Street, and then they call the clinic to get your info... I mean, seriously...🙂 . It's a total racket! I guess it's the same at all the hospitals; every clinic seems to have its own overpriced optical shop... Just remember, wherever you go, you have the right to buy your lenses wherever you want!!!
One ophthalmologist once handed me a business card for a private optician, Petrie, telling me to get my glasses made there. But I went to Tiffany & Co. instead, and they made these glasses with some stupid lenses that I couldn't see through properly. When I went back to them to check my frames, he just told me, "Well, I told you to go to Petrie." Tiffany & Co. insisted the lenses were fine, and the private guys wouldn't even touch the glasses because they didn't make them. Eventually, I went to Petrie; the guy looked at them, said they were no good, and I ended up buying new lenses from him (pretty cheap, actually) and everything was great. I've since gone back to him two or three times when my frames needed fixing, and he always fixed them in a flash, sometimes even for free! The lesson? The ophthalmologist is always right. 😁
I'm wondering what actually happens when I look left or right—does the lens move along with my eyes? Or is it just big enough to cover the whole eye? 😬
In all seriousness, I've heard pretty good things about lenses, especially the hard ones, so I'm curious about how pricing works and if it fluctuates much. Also, is it fair to say you eventually stop feeling them once you get used to them? Since everything on this thread was posted two years ago, maybe there's some updated info out there?
Every single time, I’m left staring at the screen in disbelief when a ref calls for three measly minutes of stoppage time after we've already sat through six substitutions, seven different trips to the medical staff, and ten minutes of some goalie just punting the ball out of bounds to kill the clock. It feels like such a cheap excuse for bad officiating. Honestly, maybe they should just implement a strict mathematical formula. Every sub takes 30 seconds, every time a trainer runs on the field takes 30 seconds—which is probably an underestimate—and let's say every yellow or red card adds another 30. If that means the game goes ten minutes over, fine. Maybe then players would actually learn a bit of fair play.
I’m generally against using a running clock like they do in basketball, but this constant acting and unsportsmanlike behavior has to stop. It ruins the game and honestly just drives fans away. 🙂
Even though I was the one who started the thread about San Francisco (and honestly, there are way more San Francisco fans on the Football board now than when it was just three or four of us), I wouldn't mind if we all just moved over to the MLS section together. The Laker fans have retreated to their own corner, we keep jumping from San Francisco back to the MLS, and the Kansas City Chiefs fans don't even seem to know where they belong anymore... Discussions have felt pretty diluted ever since we stopped hanging out in the MLS section (basically, there's no more spam 😬).
I’ve watched a few clips on TV, and honestly, they look like flies without heads, just buzzing and jumping all over the place. Plus, the field is circular... 😕
But I guess the main thing is how much Australians go crazy for it. And the refs seem pretty chill. 😁
Last year, this thread about the French league died a pathetic death after maybe 20 or 30 posts. But since we're already here: I don't really root for anyone in particular. I guess I find Toulouse somewhat likable, though honestly, I couldn't care less... 😁

So yeah, there was some pacing here and there, but that's about it. Mostly just filler.
Still, I was thinking about what anyone would actually do in that situation—like stumbling onto some psycho who kidnaps you, drags you back to some hole in the woods, and just slowly tortures and hacks away at you... all for no reason other than their own sick amusement. So many people have been lost to maniacs like that. It's messed up... Oh, you guys are saying this isn't the psychology subforum? 😁
I started this thread way back when you could actually catch the South American leagues on premium cable, but I guess all those channels just disappeared. I was checking the standings earlier since we're only two weeks out from the end of the season, and man, the Mississippi River and the New York Yankees aren't even close to the top. The Mississippi River is sitting at 10th and the New York Yankees are down in 15th! Looks like the Chicago Cubs might take the title, with the St. Louis Cardinals, Boston Red Sox, Seattle Sounders, and Detroit Tigers right behind them.
Take it easy. The guy was a total liability for years, so I guess he'll need a few seasons at the top level before anyone actually believes he's legit.

Regarding fairness: if you're going to use sensors in a league, you should either use them for every single game or none at all. That would actually be fair.
