Dennis Long7 said:I’ll say 'Halloween' just because I have such a huge emotional connection to the first two movies in that series. In my opinion, all the other sequels are just unnecessary and plain bad.👎

'Nightmare on Elm Street' isn't a bad series either, but I haven't actually sat through the whole thing. I think I’ve only seen the first one and the third? I enjoy it simply because it fits that teen horror vibe, but 'Halloween'—specifically the first and maybe the second—is better than the entire 'Nightmare on Elm Street' franchise combined!👎

Whoa there, buddy! You might want to tuck that subjective opinion away for a bit! So you've seen Freddy 1 and 3, but you missed the absolute best parts? How about 4 and 6? Or even the New Age horror vibes of 7, or New Nightmare? Seriously, part 6 is one of the most original horror films I have ever laid eyes on—it was practically begging for those 3D glasses!

As for me, I’ve watched every single 'Halloween' movie. I loved 1, 2, and H2O, but honestly? Not one of them beats Freddy! So, maybe your take was a little too biased, don't you think?

Dennis Long7 said:Scream 2 is definitely not garbage.
It’s actually one of those rare sequels that turns out to be above average! Sure, the original will always be king, but the second one does its job perfectly. It deepens the plot, leans even harder into the comedy, and at times, feels even more passionate (like that scene with Sidney and her roommate in the car, or the scene with Courteney Cox in the recording studio). Everything works! Even the ending makes sense. Maybe people just find it hard to admit it's good simply because it's a sequel?
The only thing I’d nitpick is how "immortal" certain characters seem (looking at you, Dewey), but since the franchise wouldn't be what it is without him, I can live with it.
As for the trilogy, I think we are on the same page...

Man, I’ll give you a pass if you're speaking through a heavy buzz, but you are seriously tripping! Even Wes Craven himself mentioned that Scream 2 and 3 were kind of rushed junk because they were just trying to scrape the money together and get the movies made as fast and easily as possible.

Dennis Long7, hurry up and run to the local video rental shop and grab a few cult horror classics!

You're absolutely right, he injected a massive dose of adrenaline into the horror genre! 😛

We have to keep in mind that some people just love that style. Personally, I’m a huge fan of the originals, but I honestly adore a good remake just as much.

Look, regardless of what anyone says, the movie was incredible! If the sequel turns out even half as good, I'll be more than happy!

Thanks for the signature! Josh, I’ll definitely add Andrew Wood, but man, I just can't seem to remember him!

I wanted to mention that Universal Pictures has officially signed on with Zack Snyder for a sequel to "Dawn of the Dead." And here is the best part: this isn't just some cheap remake of Romero's "Day of the Dead." Instead, it's going to be titled "Dawn of the Dead 2" and will feature its own completely original story! Isn't that exciting?

Thank goodness we finally get to see Zack Snyder turn the page and start a whole new chapter with zombies! At this rate, "Dawn" might even evolve into a full-blown trilogy!

lol on that text 🙂

p.s. just a heads up, I found it on Amazon, but it’s only available as a double feature with the sequel.

"WATCHERS Rated R

I was wondering, has anyone here actually sat down to watch "Watchers"? You know, the one with that mutant creature and the super intelligent dog? I've been dying to get my hands on it, but I can't find a decent copy anywhere online!

Oh man, I remember when Scream first hit theaters! I had just gotten back from a trip to the coast and headed straight to the cinema to catch it. Honestly, I only went because of all the hype surrounding it, but let me tell you, I was genuinely surprised.

I was absolutely certain that the sequel would end up being total garbage, and boy, was I right. As for a third installment? Don't even get me started!

You can't miss the building; it has "BLITZ" written all over it in massive letters! 🙂

placidraven22 said:Pet Sematary... the first one is top-tier, but the second? Not so much. Then you've got Texas Chainsaw and Freddy Krueger.

Personally, I thought both Pet Sematary movies were awesome!
Wait, wasn't Texas Chainsaw just a remake rather than an actual sequel?
And speaking of Freddy, sure, the sequels might not always hit the mark, but Wes Craven's creative style is just so original and brilliant, don't you think?

I just finished watching it after downloading the file, and honestly, I can tell you right now that those five hours spent downloading were a total waste of my time! It wasn't anything special—just a little bit creepy, I guess—but I actually enjoyed the first American remake much more. Even the sequel wasn't half bad!

If I had to pick between ralje meets, Deep Blue Sea, or this one, I’d definitely pass on the first two before even thinking about stepping foot in the water! 😉

Noah Watson4 said:Oh, please! Acting like there's some big rulebook! Where on earth am I supposed to point Noah Watson4 to find an original remake of Dawn if I wanted to...?! 🙂

I actually lost my mind for a second too when I couldn't track it down at Algorithm or Plug and Play.

P.S. I just remembered a couple of series I used to watch when I was a kid.

So, I finally sat down and watched that animated movie today.

One word comes to mind: FANTASTIC!
Jaws in Movies ·
I actually sat through this thing twice just to try and wrap my head around what everyone finds so brilliant about it, but honestly? I just couldn't stomach it!

I was actually a bit hesitant to brag about the Dawn remake because I was worried you all might tear me apart, but honestly? It was so incredibly good that I ended up going out and buying the original DVD just to have the complete experience!

As for Romero's "Land of the Dead," I've been hearing some buzz from folks who caught it on digital downloads—they’re saying it’s an absolute blast and feels totally different from what you'd expect. Apparently, it gets pretty intense and gory, too. Honestly, you’d probably have to trim at least thirty minutes of the bloodier scenes if you wanted it to pass the rating boards here in the States!

Well, I guess we'll just have to wait and see how it plays out!

Hmm, I can think of one movie series, though I've only managed to catch the first installment!

Gerald Rivera60 said:I don't really consider Cannibal to be a horror movie... I mean, I suppose everyone has their own definition of what counts as horror, but in my opinion, just because there's a ton of blood doesn't automatically make it a horror flick...
... though, let's face it, it can be pretty tricky to draw a line between pure horror and a solid thriller.
... and look, I know I'm drifting a bit into off-topic territory here, but why is it that something like Friday the 13th is classified as horror, while Silence of the Lambs falls under thriller... even though, personally, I find the Lamb much more terrifying than Jason Voorhees?
Are horror movies defined by their actual content, or by the specific reaction they provoke—or intend to provoke—in the audience?
... honestly, I don't think it's all that vital to pin these things down perfectly. There's a general consensus on certain classics, sure, but on other films, everyone has their own unique take... and that's just how it goes! Everyone will agree that The Exorcist is a horror masterpiece, but you'll never get a consensus when it comes to Cannibal or the Lamb.

I think you might be mixing up a few things here. If you check out www.imdb.com, you'll see that even "Silence of the Lambs" is tagged as horror, but it’s also listed as a thriller and a crime movie too.

On the flip side, Friday the 13th carries the Mystery / Horror / Thriller label.

So, both movies actually fall within the horror genre! However, it's common knowledge that if you sit through all ten installments of Friday the 13th, you'll walk away concluding it's much more of a pure horror series—because after the third entry, there isn't even a plot anymore; it's just about the carnage!

It might not fit the standard horror mold, but I can say with absolute certainty that this movie has been slapped with an R rating in plenty of countries—and in some places, the uncut version was actually banned entirely!😳

Ethan Perez97 said:Evil Dead 😎

If we look at the Evil Dead films, Chucky (though I’m pretty sure they released Child's Play 4 and there might even be a new sequel coming out this year!), and the Day of the Dead series—including those two remakes and Night and Dawn—we could actually put together a really solid new pool of horror trilogies!

Noah Watson4 said:Oh boy, here we go again with the comparisons! 🙂 Personally, I absolutely live for Rage Against the Machine... I'm just not really feeling Soundgarden... though I'd say Audioslave is perfectly fine! 👍

I'm a huge fan of Soundgarden, but I love Rage too—maybe not quite as much as the first, but hey, what can you do? I'm eagerly waiting for a new album; who knows, maybe they've finally found some common ground!

I just caught the premiere of Constantin, and man, it looks absolutely stunning! I’m crossing my fingers that the story holds up as well as the visuals do. I honestly can't wait for the wide release—I'm planning to head straight to the theater the moment it drops!
