Aeon Flux in Movies ·
I'm curious if anyone here knows anything about this movie? I've heard some whispers that it might actually be wild!

It stars Charlize Theron playing Aeon, or rather, "a mysterious and amoral secret agent."

p.s. I'm not sure if this thread was already opened—please don't be mad at me, I've been away on vacation at the beach for ages! :P

I honestly don’t know what it is, but I absolutely love this scene! There is just something about the angle and the way they shot it when Sidney is left all alone in the house—that moment when he finally reaches her... it’s pure mystery and chills!

You just don't get that kind of tension in the second or third movies.😳\

When > first hit theaters, I honestly didn't know what to expect. I actually went out to see it in the cinema, and man, was I surprised by how good it really was! But after that? It felt like a total flood of garbage movies hitting the same theme. It was overwhelming! Honestly, sequels 2 and 3 really shouldn't have even been made—at least not the way they turned out! :P

Oh man, I am so excited to go see this soon!!1

Woohoo! Just do me a favor and don't go spoiling any of the plot for my mom 🙂

I honestly don't get why Wes Craven keeps churning out these absolute disasters lately. I'm really crossing my fingers that Red Eye turns out okay!
cosmicraven2 said:UCLA messed up again—and this time, they really blew it. They released Wes Craven's 'Cursed' in our local video rental stores, but they used the American PG-13 censored version instead of the original 'R' cut that played in theaters everywhere else outside the States (where it only ever saw a home video release).

People who have seen the original version say those extra bloody scenes are actually what save the movie, so I feel pretty cheated after renting a version I didn't even want to watch in the first place.

If you're heading down to the video store, you might want to steer clear of this one. This butchered edit just isn't the kind of movie Wes Craven makes. Even if they put the scenes back in, it wouldn't be a masterpiece, but at least it would be watchable!

Josh, this is exactly why I've decided I'm only buying movies I actually want from Amazon.com (if they aren't available on the US site) or by ordering through my guy at DINATON! 😉

Finally, it’s actually happening! 😁
Discoteka said:Here are the tracks I'm currently craving... hmm...:

Dead Can Dance - a bunch of songs
Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms
Clapton - Tears in Heaven
Jean-Michel Jarre - a few instrumentals
Fleetwood Mac - Everywhere
Pink Floyd - Goodbye Cruel World, Mother
Pearl Jam - Black
U2 - a few winter tracks

And that's about it... nothing else comes to mind right now!

I feel like there's a lot to say about this! 😁 😉
I'm not sure that Fleetwood Mac track really fits the vibe here, don't you think? 🙂

Well, let me throw my own little list into the ring! 🙂 :

Pearl Jam: Black, Release, Off He Goes, Indifference, Immortality, Present Tense, All Those Yesterdays, Sleight of Hand, You Are, You've Got to Hide Your Love Away, Otherside, Sad, Footsteps, Dead Man, Let Me Sleep, Man of the Hour. 🙂

Alice in Chains: Nutshell, Over Now, Down in a Hole

Blind Melon: Change, Mouthful of Cavities

What are we thinking? Any initial impressions?

By the way, the movie hits theaters this October. (Though it likely won't make its way to the US until January or so.)

To be honest, I haven't even seen the first one yet! 🙂

quietdriver3 said:Actually, I'd say the exact opposite!

Ronny Yu's fourth installment is easily one of the best self-parodying movies I've ever seen.

The whole thing was such a pleasant, totally unexpected surprise! 👍

It looks like they kept that same cheeky energy for the fourth one (especially that scene with Britney Spears 🤣), so I'm definitely adding it to my watchlist. I'll probably wait until it hits streaming, though—I just don't trust the franchise quite enough to head to the theater for it! 😉

The absolute highlight of that movie for me? That moment when the guy steps out into the street and gets absolutely leveled by a truck... haha! I was laughing my head off!

Honestly, I truly believe that even after all this time, watching War of the Worlds again would still hit people right in the gut. I have to admit, I thought the movie was absolutely fantastic! My only regret is that I missed the first thirty minutes because I showed up to the theater late. 😁 🙂

Honestly, Independence Day is such an incredible movie! 👍

Haha, okay, maybe I'm exaggerating just a tiny bit, but for me, that film still stands head and shoulders above all those other blockbusters they've been blasting us with over the last decade...

Don't you just love it when Americans step up and save the entire world? And the best part of the whole movie is when the President's wife dies, right?🙂div>
Wait, where on earth are the Backstreet Boys?! Are they actually American? Because they are hands down my absolute favorite band ever!!!

loverman said:I honestly don't see the connection to Pink Floyd. If I had to pick a favorite, I'd go with Sonic Youth, since they feel way more original and interesting than PJ.

You just don't see it because you probably haven't experienced a PJ show live! If you ever caught them on stage, you'd realize their songs sound a hundred times better in person—even though the studio recordings are absolutely flawless. There's always this incredible improvisation happening, so it never gets old.
As for who's actually more interesting or original? Well, look at the polls here in America where they were voted the number one band, or check out that IMPACT award PJ received a couple of years ago specifically for their songwriting originality and improvisational skill.👍 😁

Look, let's be honest—the British bands have always had the better tunes.
😉

It’s not about how much you have, it’s about how good it is! 😁 👋

It is absolutely wild how aliens have zero respect for Americans, especially since we’re considered a "GLOBAL SUPERPOWER," yet they decide to strike right on Independence Day! And can you believe our top pilots are just a rapper and the President? Honestly, what a total comedy show!!!!
Pearl Jam... and who else do you guys think belongs in that same league? 🙂
•They’ve always stuck to their guns. "Rather than chasing clout through flashy music videos or nonstop media blitzes, they actually stepped back right when they were at their peak to focus entirely on the craft," noted Willie McNabb in el Dorado, Ark. "That puts them in the same breath as Neil Young, Led Zeppelin and The Beatles. Why? Because they never traded their integrity for fame, and honestly, isn't that the only thing that truly matters?"

•The music just hits different. As Tom Baker, a listener from Atlanta, put it: "They haven't stopped evolving. Album after album, they keep reshaping their sound, and even twelve years into this journey, the music feels just as vital and fresh as ever. I mean, what more can you ask for?"

•And let's talk about those shows—they are absolutely top-tier, yet surprisingly budget-friendly. Jake Mohlman from Barrington, R.I., gave them huge props for keeping ticket prices reasonable. "In an age where most acts basically fleece their fans, they're doing something different," he observed. "Plus, the way they embrace low-cost bootlegs adds such a cool, authentic layer to the whole concert experience."

They are seriously the only American band whose live shows can go toe-to-toe with Pink Floyd!👍 😎 😉

quietdriver3 said:Elektra isn't actually bad at all.

In this flick, you've got people from the North America, demonic ninjas, white ninjas dropping straight out of the sky (yeah, yeah, and I kid you not, Mortal Kombat 2 isn't the only movie that offers such an epic entrance!), a showdown between Bob Sapp and Wood (seriously, they're in the exact same intellectual league), and that lesbian kiss between Natasha Romanoff and Jennifer Lawrence...

Honestly, those two seconds of lesbian action make the whole thing worthwhile! 😍

I have to admit, I don't get why Elektra was so trashed by critics and audiences either... To me, the movie was fine. It wasn't some spectacular masterpiece, sure, but it wasn't boring and it was actually really easy to watch!
