I don't think you can get your hands on that one without a prescription or some kind of doctor's note from the clinic.🙂

Well, they can just drink some water after that. 🤷 What they’re doing right now is actually way worse—not eating all day or just slamming a Red Bull. They're going to wreck their teeth, and honestly, they'll destroy their entire health at this rate.

Just stick to fruit yogurts. You can grab those protein powder shakes too, or honestly, if you want to be real about it, just blend some fresh fruit and veggies at home and toss it in a Yeti...
Austin James5, I’ve already asked you once to take this kind of stuff over to the Pet forum. This isn't the place for those questions.
First off, cat scratch fever isn't some skin condition—it’s an infection that dogs can carry too. 😬 Second, maybe take a second to actually read this: Look, if you aren't a cat person, fine, but you clearly have no idea what you're talking about here. Pay close attention to the section on toxoplasmosis in that article, specifically where it talks about slicing salad on a contaminated surface. 😳 What, do you think shopping malls and pharmacies are just for decoration? You can grab stuff there. Obviously.

If I were pregnant, I wouldn't touch anything unless it was pre-packaged and sealed tight. I'd stick to things that aren't made from raw meat—like sausages or bacon or whatever. It's all about avoiding that toxoplasmosis crap. 😉
Austin James5 said:Can anyone tell me 😁if I actually need to see a doctor for this? Like, should I go get checked out just because of what I read? What kind of tests would they even run to find out if I have a cyst (echinococcus)? Also, I was reading about toxoplasmosis and how it can cause swollen lymph nodes. I’ve had one behind my ear and maybe one or two on my head—not sure—and they've been there for over two years. They don't really bother me, they're tiny. I went to a doctor about it a long time ago and she didn't do anything. Sometimes things pop up on my neck and disappear, but these two or three never go away. Thoughts?

By the way, how am I supposed to know if my dog has tapeworms? What are the symptoms? I haven't found anything helpful online.

And what do you think a doctor is going to do? Send you for an MRI to look for a cyst just because you read something about tapeworms on the internet?

Maybe you'll get some meds to kill the parasites, but that's about it. No one is going to run a battery of tests or send you for imaging. Our healthcare system is pretty much a mess anyway. 😁

mistyjackal842 said:I'm not just bringing up pregnancy and cats for no reason. A younger doctor I know left her cat with her mom during her recent pregnancy. So, she clearly knows what she's doing. One friend from my class got sick from a cat back when we were kids in elementary school. She ran a fever, got some skin rash, and was sick for quite a while. I don't know the exact diagnosis. Personally, I'm not much of a cat person—I love dogs, especially puppies. And I've never heard of anyone getting sick from a dog, at least among people I know.

You didn't answer a single one of my questions. You didn't mention which "terrible diseases" cats carry, nor did you explain how a cat can actually infect a pregnant woman with toxoplasmosis if it doesn't eat raw meat and stays indoors (toxoplasmosis is the whole reason uninformed idiots get rid of their cats during pregnancy).

And following your logic, I know plenty of girls who were pregnant and had cats or were around cats and gave birth to perfectly healthy babies. My sister was around three different cats and had two successful pregnancies without any issues. At the same time, I also know people who bought dogs that had everything from mange to tapeworms and worms.

You can hate cats all you want, but don't talk about stuff you don't understand. I've had cats for a long time now; trust me, I know what they can catch and what they can pass on to us. And look at me—I'm alive and healthy, at least regarding anything a cat could potentially give me.
😢

I really hope things work out for you and you finally get to hold your little girl in your arms again. 😢 As for the lawsuit, I truly hope you win it. It won't bring back what you've lost, but at least it's something—and hopefully, it'll force some people to actually think about their actions when human lives are on the line.
Check out the Pets PDF down below. Dive into that if you want to ask anything about dogs—diet, health, vaccinations, all that stuff. We cover human health in this PDF too.

mistyjackal842 said:Cats are actually way more dangerous to human health than dogs and carry more diseases. For instance, pregnant women shouldn't even be in a house with a cat. I’d be fine having a Labrador, but a cat? No thanks. It's so unlikely you'd catch anything that I think you can just relax.

Honestly guys, stop talking nonsense.

Where are you getting this idea that a pregnant woman can't live with a cat? And what "horrific" diseases are we even talking about here?

If you're talking about toxoplasmosis and pregnancy, maybe do a little research before you start crucifying innocent cats. You can get toxoplasmosis from eating unwashed salad (since people grow food in soil where all sorts of things live) or from undercooked meat—like sausages or hot dogs that haven't been heated enough.

By the way, do you even know how toxoplasmosis is actually transmitted? Cats pick it up from eating raw meat. So tell me, how is a cat that eats dry kibble or canned food (which is processed with heat) going to catch that, especially if it stays indoors? And how is a pregnant woman supposed to catch it from a cat if she washes her hands thoroughly after cleaning the litter box, or uses gloves? Or if she just washes her hands after touching the cat?
And you think worms are the only thing you'll pick up from an unvaccinated dog that hasn't been treated for parasites? 😁 You're being a bit dramatic here.

Did you actually notice the dog had parasites? If so, did you wash your hands after touching him? Did you kiss him? Does he lick the plates you eat off of? Look, my cats used to have worms and neither I nor anyone else in my house caught anything. Just practice some basic hygiene and you'll be fine.

Just give the little guy some dewormer and get him vaccinated.
For the hundredth time on this thread, I’m reminding you all to actually follow the rules in this Health PDF:

Maria Fisher46 said:Hey everyone on the forum,

We're adding some more detail and clarification regarding the rules for discussing alternative treatments—basically anything that falls outside the realm of mainstream medicine:

The rules have been updated and expanded. Please read them carefully—breaking them will result in sanctions.

The PDFs for Health and Child Health are strictly regulated. Forbidden. There are three ways people usually handle this: you can share your own story to shine a light on what worked—basically just saying, "Hey, this helped me, but don't feel like you have to do it if you don't"—or you can just ask around to see if anyone else has had success with it. Then there's the third option, which is just pushing an agenda or being overly positive and affirmative about something.

Let’s talk about all those "alternative" treatments that aren't actually medicine. The medical community views them as genuine threats to people's lives and health. I'm not going to get into the specifics of things like MMS drops, colloidal silver, or that "Vitamin B17" nonsense—those are just straight-up poisons. But regardless of what anyone claims helped them, if it isn't legitimate medicine, it's dangerous. Period.

b) regarding all those various "healing" methods that don't actually fall under real medicine—excluding just the herbal remedies, vitamins, minerals, and dietary supplements (for the record, discussing homeopathy, bioenergy, biorezonance, and stuff like that is strictly off-limits), regardless of whether someone personally feels like those methods actually worked for them.

c) You aren't allowed to tell someone—either straight up or by dropping hints—to quit a treatment that their doctors have prescribed according to standard medical protocols.

You can talk about herbal remedies, vitamins, minerals, and supplements here, provided we aren't discussing life-threatening poisons. Also, don't you dare suggest—directly or otherwise—that anyone should ignore their doctor's orders or go against professional medical advice. Stick to the rules.

Can we please stop talking about that famous B17 vitamin or apricot kernels in here? Seriously. There’s an "Alternative Medicine" PDF available, and if I recall correctly, there’s even a dedicated thread for that stuff. Feel free to go there and vent as much as you want. But in this space? It’s banned until the medical experts actually give it the green light.

Edit: Everything has been cleared out. Stop dragging this topic through here. If anyone is confused about why, just send a DM to the moderators or start a new thread on the main forums.

Please stop posting these kinds of topics and inquiries on this forum. If someone is actually looking to end their life, they need to go find another corner of the internet to figure out the methods, the supplies, or the dosages.

quietfox384 said:I went to the hematology department at the Internal Clinic for some blood work from September. The hematologist noted on my results that I need to repeat a specific test (anticardiolipin antibodies) and then take those results to an immunologist.
I didn't actually notice that note on the report until later (in the meantime, I already had to go back there to get more blood drawn), and the doctor didn't mention anything about it during our visit.
Now I'm wondering who I should contact for that specific test and how to get a referral to the immunologist? Do I have to head back to hematology to get them to handle it and draw the blood there?

I think your primary care doctor can write you that referral. I can't quite remember if mine was my GP or the immunologist who did it—part of my testing was ordered by my primary doctor, while for another part, the immunologist provided the referral.

If your primary care physician can't give you the referral, then either the hematologist or the immunologist can. If you end up going in for a follow-up, just ask that specialist to write it right then and there. You usually get the blood drawn wherever you normally go for labs; in my city, that’s at the main hospital lab. I did all my hematology and immunology blood work there in a single month. I'm not sure if hospitals everywhere organize things that way.
Does it go down for you, and if so, how long after you wake up?

I used to deal with swelling—my eyelids were absolutely puffed up every single morning. But since I have thyroid issues, that was the culprit. Now that I'm on medication, knock on wood, it doesn't happen anymore.

What kind of tests have you actually gone through, and how long has this been dragging on? Honestly, if I were in your shoes, I’d be pushing my doctor for a referral to a specialist right now. I'm not even sure which department handles this specific mess, but any decent GP should know exactly where to send you to get real answers.
Do you eat a lot of salt? Honestly, try cutting it out as much as possible. Start sipping on some herbal teas—things like nettle, cranberry, or parsley. They act as natural diuretics, so it might help you flush out that extra water weight from your system.

silverheron91 said:Look, I’ve been known to knock back three Ibuprofen tablets ALL AT ONCE. Sometimes I even toss in some Tylenol for good measure. Back in the day, Advil was my absolute go-to for killing pain, but honestly? I’m looking for something with a bit more kick these days.

How many milligrams is that ibuprofen? And seriously, why aren't you asking a gynecologist for something stronger than just ibuprofen? Chugging that many pills at once—I don't think you're supposed to do that, and honestly, I don't think it’s healthy.

I don't have any posts from writer123 to rewrite yet. Send them over whenever you're ready. kaže:
A light walk helps with the pain. Simple as that. It’s not some miracle cure, but moving around does wonders for those aches. Just don't overdo it.
Not running, not power walking—just a light stroll. 😁

Not exactly my style of volume, is it? 😁

I know women who literally can't get out of bed because of the pain. They pass out, end up in the ER getting shots—and I’m telling you, there are plenty of them. It’s wild how many women deal with incredibly painful periods. I’m not quite at that extreme level, but when my cramps hit, I just end up throwing up from the pain. 😁 You say walking might help. Maybe. But honestly, I'd only do it if it helped me vent better. The pain doesn't stop unless I take pills. Warm compresses and all that stuff? Useless. It’s just drugs.
This isn't just a local thing; it’s how the world works. Sure, we're online and enjoy this little illusion of anonymity, but a court order can pull your data whenever they want. We’re just laying out the reality so you don't get blindsided one day when an attorney's letter shows up on your doorstep. Whatever you type, you have to own—especially in court. And you better have damn good evidence, otherwise, you're just asking to lose a lawsuit and end up paying someone damages. It sounds absurd, but it happens. Keep that in mind.

Look, mistyjackal842, it's noble of you to want to warn people about these things, but what you're doing is starting to feel like a straight-up lynching. If you actually have proof, take it to court. If you don't, everyone online has already read what you wrote, so consider the mission accomplished. People are warned.
mistyjackal842 said:I really agree with you on this. The doctors on this forum seem to unconditionally protect their own colleagues, even when they've made unforgivable medical mistakes. When I tried to write about my mother's tragic case—how her sepsis was neglected and left untreated—not a single doctor on this forum would even answer my questions about sepsis, not even via private message. I suppose it’s because my mother tragically passed away at Vinogradska Hospital last month. If she were still fighting for her life in the hospital, maybe they’d find it worthy to respond. I even received a message suggesting someone from that hospital might sue me, though I honestly have no idea on what grounds, since I haven't insulted or cursed anyone. But I stand by everything I say; I spent entire days right by my mother's side, so I saw everything firsthand. I actually come from a medical family—my mother was a physician, as was my father. We have plenty of medical books at home. The best one we have is that American book that doctors used to get for free back in the States. I actually reconstructed much of what went wrong during my mother's treatment using that very book. I know how to think logically; I studied logic all through high school and even had it as a subject during my finals. So, I didn't really need any help from the "esteemed" doctors on this forum.

Now I'm just waiting to be banned for making this post.

You won't get a strike for this (even though honestly, you deserve one since both the admin and I asked you via PM to stop doing this), but I have to tell you, this is really uncalled for.

We let you post about your case everywhere, even when it was totally off-topic and had nothing to do with the thread. We didn't delete your posts or warn you until recently. Mistyjackal842, I am truly sorry for what you are going through, but you aren't the only one who has lost someone due to someone else's negligence. What would this forum look like if we allowed everyone to post their personal stories everywhere, regardless of whether it fits the topic or not?

As mods, our job is to maintain the hygiene of this forum. Given the state of this place, we actually show a lot of tolerance and allow way more than what's typically permitted elsewhere. Accusing people who are doctors—who spend their free time giving free advice and explaining things better than some actual doctors—of covering up for whoever is responsible for a death is a very, very low blow.
To surprise you, not all the mods in the Health section are medical professionals (some of us have nothing to do with medicine), and I have to tell you that this ban on dragging Vinogradska topics isn't just a decision by the doctor-mods; it's a decision by all the Health mods, the super-mods in charge of Health, and the admin.

That warning about being sued for libel was good-natured advice from the admin (and btw, leaking private messages is against forum rules and carries a fairly long ban, just so you know how much we mods are fed up with you). You won't believe it, but we've had cases where lawyers contacted the owner asking for IP addresses to sue people for defamation. Do you actually have evidence for everything you're saying? Setting aside the fact that I believe you, do you have evidence that would hold up in a court of law? If not, then thank God someone warned you. You never know who reads this forum or who might take offense at what you're doing and decide to sue you. You even mentioned certain doctors from Vinogradska by name; what's stopping them from filing a lawsuit against you? 🤷

I know you're going through it, but let's take a breather here. We’ve tried being patient and keeping things civil, but honestly, from here on out, we're deleting posts like this—and if it doesn't stop, we'll start handing out bans. And don't think this just applies to the Health section; this goes for the entire forum.

Also, please don't reply to this post right here. If you want to argue about it, we can talk in this thread: Messages, complaints, comments
