I know exactly what you mean. That area used to swell up and ache for me too; it felt really weird every time I tried to chew something. Honestly, it could be your salivary glands or maybe just swollen lymph nodes—my money is on the nodes.
Have you been dealing with a cold lately? Check if any of the nodes in your neck feel swollen. How long has this been going on?
We are updating and clarifying the rule regarding discussions on alternative treatments (anything that falls outside of mainstream medicine):
The rule is being amended and expanded. Read it carefully because breaking it will result in sanctions.
On the Health and Child Health PDFs, it is strictly prohibited to directly or indirectly cast anything in a positive light (sharing personal experiences like, "I'm just sharing what worked for me, I'm not telling anyone else to do it") and/or to solicit positive testimonials ("I just want to know if this ever helped anyone") and/or to push or write affirmatively about:
a) any form of "treatment" that is not considered medical practice and which mainstream medicine deems life-threatening or dangerous to health (for example, mentioning MMS drops, colloidal silver/silver water, "Vitamin B17," or other toxins is not allowed), regardless of whether someone believes those methods helped them;
b) any form of "treatment" that is not considered medical practice, with the exception of herbal preparations, vitamins, minerals, and dietary supplements (for instance, discussing homeopathy, bioenergy, or bioresonance is not allowed), regardless of whether someone believes those methods helped them;
c) it is not permitted to directly or indirectly advise others to abandon a therapy prescribed by doctors according to standard medical protocols.
Discussing herbal preparations, vitamins, minerals, and dietary supplements is allowed, provided they are not toxic substances dangerous to life and health, and provided the posts do not directly or indirectly suggest acting contrary to the instructions of a doctor following professional standards.
There’s already a thread over on the Gastronomy forum about the Zone, here's the link: Zone Diet. Go ask your questions there. I'm closing this one down.
Salt makes you hold onto water, which is exactly what you don't want. Honestly, I think the best move is to take a diuretic to flush all that excess out, though obviously, you’d only do that under a doctor's supervision.
There’s this organization called Spotify—if I’m remembering the name right, though I think it was started by the dad of some girl who struggled with an eating disorder. They might actually have some decent advice to offer. I remember seeing a segment on TV about how there’s a massive gap in specialized care for these types of disorders. Usually, people just get sent to an endocrinologist or maybe a psychiatrist for something minor, but honestly, you really need a whole team of specialists working together on cases like this.
edit: here’s their website: http://www.hope.org/. Give them a shout; they should be able to point you in the right direction and help you figure out who to see.
Because of this kind of nonsense, a kid had to wait from August until January just to save enough cash for a trip to Vienna. In the meantime, her kidneys failed, leaving nothing but a tiny shred of hope that she could actually make progress in the USA—all while facing a medical bill three times higher than expected.
I’ve personally made several payments since last September. You don't have to; feel free to cling to those paranoid ideas about scams, theft, and obligations while a child is dying. Go right ahead. Anyone who actually wants to help will find a way, whether there's a massive public announcement or not.
Yeah, easy to talk trash when it isn't your business. Would you take responsibility if it turned out this forum publicly supported some shady scam? Of course not. I could just sit here and act like everyone else is heartless and silent, but I don't run a corporation. If something goes sideways, I'm not the one on the hook for it.
There’s a specific procedure for collecting money on a forum, especially when it's a mass effort like a public drive. It’s not hard—just partner with a non-profit, provide the paperwork, and then everyone knows exactly where every single cent is going. That keeps the forum safe and ensures they aren't supporting anything illegal.
This topic pops up every five minutes. Once the actual procedure is explained, people start pressuring the admins, calling them heartless if they don't launch a public drive. Even for little Nora, the fundraising went through the Braveheart foundation.
Do you guys realize that for global fundraisers, there needs to be a feedback loop and a designated person in charge? Usually, that’s some non-profit involved in the game because they have a legal obligation to account for every single cent they collect for relief efforts before passing it along. It isn't about where someone is from; it's about accountability. Who among you can actually guarantee this isn't a scam, or that the money being donated will actually reach the people in need instead of someone lining their own pockets?
edit: even rustydrifter10 chimed in with pretty much the same thing. 😬
There’s that thread about teas for gynecological issues. You were being pretty skeptical about it. Some girls were claiming they actually managed to regulate their cycles using stuff like chasteberry, vitex, or maybe raspberry leaf. But honestly? It feels like a temporary fix. You drink it, things settle down, you stop drinking it, and you're right back where you started.
Look, the worst thing you can do is just let your hormones run wild like this. Honestly, taking a pill is a lesser evil than dealing with this kind of chemical chaos. You're basically handing someone a golden opportunity to profit off you—everything from cancer to autoimmune diseases.
Honestly, this sounds like PCOS to me. If that’s what you're dealing with, you can try managing it through diet, staying active, or messing around with herbal teas, but if that doesn't cut it, just take the pills. It's better than dealing with constant spotting and irregular cycles. Your body goes through hell when things aren't balanced.
So what exactly is your OB-GYN supposed to do about it? You clearly have a hormonal imbalance that isn't just going to vanish on its own. You were prescribed birth control, and I honestly don't see the issue. It’s better to use hormones to stabilize your cycle than to just let your body suffer like this. 🤷
And seriously, go read up on PCOS. Everything you're describing sounds exactly like Polycystic Ovary Syndrome to me.
Lisa Myers probably needs to put some money into that, but she’s broke. 🤷 Honestly, things were better back when everything was on paper. Not just anyone could go snooping through your business, and at least you actually had it on you—you didn't just leave it sitting somewhere else.
Look, just go back and see her again. I'm pretty sure that follow-up was meant as a "if everything looks fine, we're good" thing, but since you're still bleeding, you really need to get checked out. 🙂
Jack probably knew exactly who was leaking this. Look, doctors and nurses take an oath to help people and protect privacy, and most of them actually give a damn. But then you have the ones who basically never signed up for any responsibility, so they don't get why people think this stuff shouldn't be public gossip. If IRS employees can't go blabbing around, then bank employees should be getting fired for leaking account balances. For crying out loud, it would be about time we let some accountant or admin go if they're talking shop like this. To me, this is a bigger violation than telling someone their husband is $2 in the hole. $0.00. 🤷
edit: And don't even get me started on those pharmacy workers who just chat away like nothing matters. They don't realize that once word gets out, people will just stop going there. I know I would personally walk right past a pharmacy if I knew the person behind the counter was some loose cannon.
Nancy Morris5 said:Basically, this is how abuse reports get handled. People report stuff, and these guys just shrug and claim the system is secure, end of story.😂
You know what? They can ignore one report and play dumb, but they can't ignore everyone. If everybody actually started reporting things, they'd be forced to act.
I’ve also heard stories where even immediate family had no idea a loved one was dying from cancer for years. And we aren't talking about some massive metropolis; we're talking about small towns where everyone knows everyone's business. It’s crazy. A sister and a doctor might have known for two years straight and felt like they couldn't say a word. By the time the cancer metastasized and became impossible to hide, then—and only then—did the family find out. So no, nothing is served on a silver platter. Especially in rural America, everything depends on who has the inside info and how much they gossip. Some people take their jobs and their oaths way too seriously; they won't breathe a word even if they know someone is terminal, simply because they're the only ones in the room who know.
God, what is wrong with everyone lately? Did the pre-holiday madness finally snap your brains? It feels like every single thread over the last few days has turned into some kind of petty shouting match. I’m asking you nicely: keep the communication civil, or people are going to start getting banned.
