Look, if you’re dealing with chronic issues—multiple different conditions, really—and you're popping a handful of pills every day, some covered by Medicare and others you're paying out of pocket because insurance won't touch them, then those extra 5-$3.25 cents actually matter. That co-pay adds up. If you're looking at 5-$3.25 per medication every single month, you're talking about a decent chunk of change right there. And let's be real: most people in that situation are either unemployed or living on some meager disability check. So why are we acting surprised when people start complaining about even an extra $1.75?

Honestly, I’m all for nobody paying a damn cent, not even those freaking $1.75 amounts, as long as money is being wasted everywhere else while the places that actually need it are left high and dry. Who's to blame? We just sit here, silent, watching it happen and acting shocked instead of stepping up and fighting for ourselves. Does a hospital really need to renovate the executive suites just to swap out a few managers? Do they seriously need to blow taxpayer money on luxury "business trips"? And don't even get me started on the procurement of medical equipment and tech. It's better not to go there. If someone actually audited how this stuff is bought and at what prices, half the people running the healthcare system would be heading straight to prison.
Let’s just stop chasing trolls.

We don't have any way to verify if someone is making up their symptoms or spinning a fake story. Since these matters are serious, we decided to leave this alone without deleting it—if the guy is actually telling the truth, then he knows what he needs to do. If he's just trolling, well, God help him. Either way, some people might actually find value in the advice shared in this thread.

Honestly, it blows my mind sometimes how people just don't grasp the basics. I mean, do they seriously not realize they should be getting advice from a doctor instead of a veterinarian? 😁 What’s even more baffling is watching them take medical directions from random people online—as if these folks are licensed pharmacists or something.

Kate Collins67 said:I mean, look—you’re standing there behind the counter, right? You're basically running a sales pitch every single second you're on the clock. It’s easy enough to lose your footing when you're constantly being pushed to move product... honestly, anyone could get tripped up in that situation.

I disagree. 🙂

I know plenty of cases where GPs messed up and wrote down a slightly higher dose—like, just a tiny bit off, what's the big deal, right? 😁 But then the ladies at the pharmacy 😁 catch the mistake, tell the patient, call the doctor, and fix the dosage. So, honestly, sometimes those clerks 😬 are actually saving lives.

Though, being a doctor, you probably already know all this and you're just being difficult now. 😁

I usually just call them the lady at the pharmacy 😁, but honestly, it’s mostly because I actually like them. I haven't run into a single person there who was grumpy, rude, or refused to answer a simple question when I had one.

Most people probably stick to calling them "the cashier" because they have no clue these folks actually went to college for this. They just assume standing behind a counter is all they do with their lives.

Honestly, if you aren't messing around, you need to get to an ER immediately so they can start working on you before things get out of hand. This thing is seriously, incredibly toxic, so please don't just sit there waiting to see what happens... If you're positive you ingested them, your best bet is to call Poison Control or head straight to a top-tier hospital like Mayo Clinic where they’ll actually take you seriously.

That makes it even more unbelievable that the ER staff just brushed him off. 🤷
I’m honestly not sure if I’d handle this the right way, but my first move would be to stick two fingers down my throat to get it all out, then follow up with some activated charcoal. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's what I'd do.

So, when did you actually eat this? If you were truly poisoned, you’d be feeling the effects within a few hours, not dragging it out over several days. And for heaven's sake, people—stop picking wild mushrooms unless you actually know what you're doing.
Why are you being so defensive?

You didn't just wander off the street demanding random tests for no reason. These are standard labs for conditions like yours—things you should have already had done. You aren't the only one hesitating, either. I know this woman who had surgery on her thyroid and they ended up damaging the glands, so now she’s stuck on hormone replacements, and sometimes she gets so unstable she has to go in for injections.

So just ask for the tests. You aren't asking for them without cause or purpose. 🙂

I’ll probably just check in with my doctor about it, just to be safe. Thanks for getting back to me on those questions. 🙂

So, can a urine test come back totally clean even when there's actually something going on with the kidneys?

I'm asking because I've never done a 24-hour urine collection before. They always check my kidney function using just the standard urinalysis, and the results always look fine. I'm trying to figure out if that basic test is actually enough, or if I should be pushing for the 24-hour test instead.

I’ve got a quick question. Can a standard urinalysis—you know, the kind where they take a sample during a routine checkup—actually catch if something is wrong with your kidneys? In other words, is it possible to get a perfectly clean report even when there's an underlying issue with the kidneys?
This debate ends here.

Google works like magic. 🙂

Calming pills? I’m not buying it, especially with those red ones. I’d bet my life they’re actually ecstasy. Just do a quick search online—you'll see most of those pills come in all sorts of colors, weird shapes, with logos, letters, or numbers stamped right on them...

And how is your dad acting? Have you noticed his behavior shifting? Maybe someone slipped him something thinking it was a sedative, but honestly, the whole thing smells fishy to me. I highly doubt those are meant for calming anyone down. More like something to get you wired. 😬
So how long are you guys actually running these things?

I’ve got this massage tool that features infrared tech, and the manual says you shouldn't use it for more than 20 minutes a day. I think the max you should go in one sitting is maybe 10 minutes or so.

Solid choice. 👍

Look, tell me this: if that TBD diagnosis actually gets confirmed, why on earth are they shoving people into hospitals? Is it just for the hell of it? Or is it because the government loves throwing taxpayer money down the drain to treat someone who doesn't even need it? And honestly, what's it to you if someone doesn't care about their own health? Personally, I don't give a damn if people decide to neglect themselves—that's their right. But here's the kicker: when you do that, you aren't just risking your own skin; you're putting everyone else at risk too.

That’s exactly what I was getting at. 😬 To me, it looks just like ecstasy. 🤷

Gregory Davis7, why on earth are you even asking about this?

Dana Reyes5 said:Oh, give me a break. What a brilliant system you guys have built. Someone steals my bike, and the cops just shrug and say, "It’s worth less than a thousand bucks, go file a private lawsuit." But if some guy copies a book to share knowledge, suddenly he’s a criminal. Honestly, you'd be better off looking for my damn bike and leaving the man alone...

Who actually said he's a criminal? 🤷 Let's be real—let anyone throw the first stone if they've never copied a single page of a book in their lives.

The point is, piracy in any form is banned on this forum, and yeah, this falls under that. 🙂

Maybe if book prices weren't such a joke, more people would actually buy them instead of just scanning them. This is especially true for college textbooks. Half of those books are basically just kindling, and God forbid you spend the $17 extra you'll pay at the print shop just to get a copy of that garbage.

Besides, piracy is banned everywhere on this forum. I don't see why selling copies of books should be any different—how is that any different from, say, selling a video game? If it's against the rules, then it’s against the rules for everything.
