For the millionth time. There are no guests. This is just a forum member who was wiped from the database due to a server error.

Are there other users like this on Reddit? Basically, it looks like they were wiped from the database for some reason. My guess is a system glitch during those old server issues caused their accounts to get deleted entirely.
Signature - when will the mods agree before they lose it? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Sure. You can claim you're running a high-end monitor at 2560x2048 with three rows, but someone else scrolling through Reddit on an old XGA screen at 1024x768 is just going to see ten rows.

The moderators have issued an order that the site must be optimized for a 1024x768 resolution. That’s why, for instance, there is a specific thread dedicated to images wider than 640px.

As far as I know, you're supposed to judge signature size based on a 1024x768 resolution with a Marketing banner on the right side. Personally, I run a 1920x1080 monitor, but I use this handy little tool that scales the page to a specific resolution just to check sizes. Looking at it through that, it's pretty obvious your signature spans four lines:

coastalnomad62 said:I tried doing it that way, but it keeps telling me I need some kind of Netflix Subscription and says there are no topics in that folder.😕

As I stated before... From now on, whenever you post in a thread, there will be a link provided right there. For all previous threads, there won't be links, so you'll have to rely on the search function. Check that link now to see if any of your topics show up (assuming you kept that option enabled).

Here’s an even better way to handle this. Go here:

Under "Netflix Subscription mode," select "No email notification" and hit "Save changes" at the bottom.
From now on, you can manage any thread you've replied to right here:

Regarding point number 2: your account hasn't been activated. Since you’ve already made posts with it, either an administrator deactivated it or there was some kind of system glitch. An admin needs to look into this. I'll pass this along...

Take a look at this:

Anyway, those Bad Request errors are still popping up. That one in the link isn't even the only one.

For me, the last two days have been great. Everything is flying by 😍

Issues popped up during the forum migration to the new server. Basically, don't collapse any subforum groups. Whatever you do, stay away from these buttons:
image
Clicking them saves a corrupt cookie, which triggers a 400 Bad Request error.

To fix this, you need to clear your cookies. And again, stop clicking that button in the image. You don't necessarily have to wipe everything—just delete the one named vbulletin_collapse. But if you aren't sure how to target just that one, go ahead and clear them all.

I hope this gets sorted out soon. I prefer having certain sections collapsed. This is getting annoying. Plus, it's confusing some users, making them think they can't access the site at all.

There’s a lot of default vBulletin stuff disabled on this site, including tags, if that's what you were getting at.

I didn't mean the vBulletin tag technology itself was in beta. I meant how tags are being used here on this Reddit. Basically, tags don't actually work on this specific site right now (even if you see them mentioned somewhere).

Yeah, I realized it and just stopped replying. 😬 Some people really don't get it. At first, I wasn't sure if he actually knew what he was doing or if he was just trolling. 🤷

Yeah, and? You're on the Forum's page, which uses a Google script to pull ads directly from Google's own databases. I honestly don't understand what part of this is confusing you.

Everything is laid out in those links I sent you. If you're still lost, just read them. I'll say it again: the Forum has nothing to do with it. Google chooses those ads; the Forum has absolutely zero influence over them.

🤦
Google picks those ads, not the Forum. Go read up on this:

It’s neither a mystery nor does this have anything to do with the Forum or its servers. It isn't the first time Google has shown ads from other countries to people here in the US. If it bothers you (or if you want to know why), you'll need to contact Google.

Robert Cruz4 said:So, unless you want to scroll through dozens of pages of the text version, the only way to get there is by editing the URL.

I didn't say it was the *only* way; I just don't know if there is one. There might be an easier method, but this is the only trick I personally know.

Robert Cruz4 said:There should be a link to the text version at the bottom of every thread.

Agreed. They should overhaul everything on Reddit, but I doubt anything will actually change anytime soon. There are plenty of plans and ideas floating around to improve the site, but they move incredibly slowly—if they even happen at all. But that's a whole different topic.
How do I switch to text mode? in Forum Help! ·
For instance, the URL for this thread is:
http://www.reddit.com/showthread.php?t=533510

The URL for the text version is:
http://www.reddit.com/archive/index.php/t-533510.html

Otherwise, you can find the link for the text version at the bottom right of the page.

As for the tags, they're in bold. So (at least for now) just forget about them.

Moderation guidelines for the politics sub in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Netiquette isn't just some vague suggestion. According to Wikipedia:
Netiquette is a set of social conventions that facilitate interaction over networks

Look at that first part. Netiquette is a collection of social conventions. In other words, standards of behavior. That means breaking netiquette is improper conduct.

Now, look at the definition of a troll:
In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.

So, a troll is someone who writes specifically to provoke an emotional reaction from others. Now tell me... Why are political names being misspelled? Isn't that done precisely to trigger a reaction? Isn't that trolling? And trolling is banned on this forum—you should know that.

Finally... I have no idea where you see any trolling in my posts. I am not trying to provoke anyone; I am simply stating facts. I stay away from the Politics subforum because it’s a breeding ground for trolls. There is absolutely zero chance of having a high-quality, reasoned discussion on any topic there (IMHO).

Since I refuse to engage in further bickering, I'm dropping this thread. Good luck to everyone...
Issues with post colors in Forum Help! ·
dustyranger11 said:Didn't we used to have more formatting options for posts? I remember being able to write in white—or any color I wanted—but now that feature is gone.

You can use colors. It's just that the post formatting isn't working quite right. You create colors like this:

An example using red.
An example using white.
An example using blue.

And besides, you can just pick any color from this palette:
The link provided leads to a webpage about color schemes for immigration-related websites in America.
Ovako:
An example using a specific color.
Tj, you can use any six-digit hex code. Each one represents a different color.

EDIT:
Yeah, right. Here’s your list of names you can use for the colors:
Just a list of color names. Completely useless.
