From what I understand, the admins take a much harder line when it comes to blatant harassment via private messages. You're usually looking at anything from a week-long suspension to a couple of months, if my memory serves me right. If they keep it up, they'll be hit with a permanent ban pretty quickly. There have even been cases where people reported abuse to the authorities. In fact, one individual was actually reported to the police for making serious threats.

Just report those kinds of PMs...

Just put them on your ignore list.

Regarding this account? Where exactly did you see that notification? What were you doing at that precise moment? How on earth did you even manage to trigger this? Please, be more specific.

That’s exactly why individual subforums have their own moderators. Every mod wants their specific section to be top-tier and high quality. But unfortunately, certain things just have to be deleted. There will always be someone complaining about a removal. There always will be. A moderator's job is simply to minimize the damage to the community by cleaning up the trash.

The moderators for each sub-section handle it in coordination with the admins and the owner. I can't get into specific details because that’s against the rules, but everything is done for the sake of the platform. We hit a point where there were just too many posts for the server to handle properly. A cleanup was mandatory. Generally, old, locked chat threads are being permanently deleted. There might be exceptions here and there. Other stuff is on the list too, like purging old listings from the Classifieds section, etc.

Anyway, this cleanup is going to drag on for a while. Deleting massive amounts of data puts a huge strain on the server, so it can't be done during peak hours and moves incredibly slowly. Some of you probably saw the maintenance notice around 2 AM...

I'll ask the admins to take a look at this...

We're currently cleaning up the forum by archiving old, minor threads. Some chat topics have already been wiped, and more are likely coming soon. Have you been leaving posts on other threads outside the chat category as well?

Hm... There’s been some server maintenance going on over the last few days. That might be the culprit. Just keep an eye on it for the next couple of days and see if it persists. If the issue sticks around, let me know...

Anyway... thanks for the advice, but...

First, I tried completely stripping the drivers and removing the card from the Device Manager just to reinstall them (following that "Windows expert" in the link). Naturally, it did nothing. That damn network popped right back up. So then, before diving into the registry, I tried installing the new drivers released last week. Of course, that didn't work either... While I was at it, I saw some new Bluetooth drivers and grabbed those too, intending to install them. Naturally, I hit an error during installation and started getting "missing DLL" messages. Now I'm looking at the driver instructions again, which say you have to wipe the old drivers first if they're below a certain version. 🤦So, I went ahead and tried to uninstall Bluetooth and remove the device from the Device Manager. Naturally, it demanded a restart. Well, I restarted my computer and now, predictably, I can't even get into Windows. It’s throwing some error about being unable to access a critical device or something along those lines, telling me to try a Repair using a Setup DVD. I already tried that, and of course, it didn't do a damn thing. So now, I'm completely locked out of Windows. 🤦🤦🤦

Just so you know, I also have Ubuntu running on that machine via dual boot, and of course, it works perfectly fine...

I open up properties, change something—including "Connect automatically"—hit OK, and the window closes. I reopen properties and nothing changed.

I delete the network; nothing happens. I move it down; nothing. I move the other one up; nothing. The other one is active. I used to have multiple networks defined and they all worked fine. I could edit, delete, or reorder them (except for "uuu" which stays at the top). But with this "uuu" network, I can't do a single thing.

Haven't tried... Would Safe Mode work? Or maybe it can be wiped from the registry or something? 🤷

The problem is I can't get rid of this "uuu" grid. I can't move it down, and I can't even change its settings. I have no clue where it came from.

When I try to delete or modify it, nothing happens—no error messages or anything. It’s like the changes are being accepted, but everything just stays exactly the same.

A couple of times when I tried deleting it, it actually vanished for a single second before popping right back up again.

There’s no info saying it was scrapped entirely. It's just temporarily offline right now.

I don't see the point of this.

Subforums should be created when there's an actual demand, not just to satisfy some sense of political correctness. If enough threads start popping up on a specific subject, fine. But why open a whole subforum just to have one active thread or a handful of posts that eventually just sit there gathering dust?

Besides, if a topic doesn't fit anywhere else, we already have the "Random" subforum for that.

But look...

To justify spinning off a new subforum, you need a critical mass of active threads on the current one that actually warrant a separate space. Let's be specific here. Does the Religion section currently have at least 5 or 6 atheist-focused threads—if not more—that are seeing daily engagement? If the answer is no, then creating a new subforum is completely pointless.
