Anyone still running Windows 7? in Software ·
Taylor Brown said:The headphones were on the middle jack and the audio was working fine... now I moved this other line-out jack to the middle and I have sound there, but suddenly my headphones aren't working at all. I put that one way over on the far right. The pink one is for the mic. How am I supposed to fix this? Plus, I can't get any sound out of YouTube either... this Windows 7 is driving me crazy.

And there's no sound in games either..
The audio is integrated into an MSI 870-C45 motherboard, not a 770 like I mentioned earlier.😁
It uses Realtek HD audio..

Plug your headphones into the orange or black jack instead. Then, go into your sound settings and set the output to 4-speaker mode. That should make your headphones act like the rear speaker pair.🙂

I just updated the HDD drivers and that did the trick. 👍

Wait, what on earth does updating HDD drivers have to do with getting rid of XP? 😢

Taylor Brown said:Does anyone know why I have zero sound? I installed the drivers and followed everything correctly... everything is connected to the line-out, but there's just no audio on Windows 7, even though it worked fine on XP. Also, on W7, I can hear stuff through my headphones, but the speakers are dead. Any ideas how to fix this? I'm using an MSI 770-C45 motherboard.

Did you actually plug the speaker output into the right spot? You should be using the middle port in the top row labeled "Line-out" (one of those six jacks). Which specific jack are you using for the headphones where the sound actually works? 🙂

Chloe Adams6 said:hey, here's the deal: I downloaded the movie and the subtitles. But instead of the usual 700 MB size, this movie is specifically 1.24 GB. Because of that, the subtitles cut out about two-thirds of the way through and just stop appearing. Is there a way to fix this? Can it be done?

Maybe try using a Time Machine for this. 🙂

Charles Thompson15 said:So, I just finished installing Windows 7 Ultimate.
The thing is, during the setup, I never actually got the advanced settings option to format my C: drive; it just let me click through straight to the finish. Now Windows is installed, but my old Windows (XP) files are still sitting right there on the C: partition. Out of my 40 GB drive, I’m left with barely 2 GB of free space.
Is there any way to wipe out those old XP files, or am I stuck having to reinstall Windows 7 from scratch with some extra tweaks?

If you had actually read the instructions carefully, this wouldn't have happened. Maybe try doing it again. 🙂

The 4870 Ti pulls just under 200W while at Idle, and when you're actually gaming—say, running Crysis—it hits slightly less than 300W. So, I guess a Codegen 400 W isn't really going to cut it for this setup. 😢

Whether it’s some other tool like Handbrake, Total..., any of those... or just various other Converters. 🙂

Personally, I find Handbrake and Handbrake to be pretty decent. They usually wrap things up in about three minutes, and I haven't really run into any issues getting the subtitles to stick properly. 🙂

Justin Reed said:Thanks man, you're a lifesaver. Is it possible to go back later and format the partition where Windows 7 was sitting? I want to wipe it completely so it isn't just taking up space for no reason.

Hold on, if you're planning to swap Windows 7 out for Windows XP, you should probably do it this way:

1. Power up the PC
2. While it's booting, tap the F2 key to get into the BIOS
3. Switch the SATA mode from AHCI to IDE
4. In the boot priority settings, set the optical drive (CD or DVD) as the first device
5. Save your changes in the BIOS
6. Pop in your Windows disc
7. Reboot the computer
8. When the screen prompts you to press any key to boot from the CD, hit a key immediately
9. At the start of the installation process, select "Format HDD" or create a few different partitions, just follow the on-screen instructions based on what you want to do. 🙂

It works if you follow this procedure. 🙂

wiredtrucker13 said:You're hilarious. Isn't Skype for chatting?

Yeah, I guess, but with those settings, you get an Outlook Notifier popping up to tell you there's a new email, yet you can still message other users directly or send photos just like on Skype. You basically get to choose what you want to do. 🙂

I don't see why you need sirens going off or lights flashing or cannons firing just to get noticed when you've got this Skype. 😢

Sure. Outlook Notifier. 🙂
Using the Handbrake tool.

Extracted from the link above:

Surprisingly enough, the HD4870 X2 actually draws less power than running two separate HD4870s in Crossfire. I guess a dual-card setup will pull about 320W, whereas the HD4870 X2 manages to get by on 'only' 286W. Just like the single-card version, it relies on a single 6-pin and an 8-pin PCI-E power connector.

The only thing missing now is the power supply. 🙂

Unfortunately, that didn't do anything. I'm not really sure where I messed up during the Windows
installation, but now it just won't recognize the graphics card. 😕

Maybe try using Speccy to see exactly which graphics card you're dealing with. 🙂

graphics card. It keeps showing up as a standard VGA graphics adapter instead of my NVIDIA GeForce.
How do I fix this? If anyone could explain, that would be great.🙏

Just download and install the drivers.

I’ve got some serious reservations about that MS400W power supply. 😢

It won't open. What does it say?
gentleranger82 said:Hi there....

I've scrolled through quite a few threads, and they all seem to start with "I'm new here" or "I'm a beginner." I didn't really feel like starting that way, so let's just get straight to the point.

I want to build a database using Microsoft Access. Since I've never actually touched Microsoft Access before, I'll probably need some guidance on how to approach this. I put together something similar in Microsoft Excel for some older folks, but it was apparently a bit too complicated for them. Basically, I want to issue goods from my shop to a local publisher for our regular clients. It’s obviously much easier to type everything into a computer than to deal with a mountain of paperwork and scraps of paper. My idea is that once I type in a customer's name, fields like their address, zip code, phone number, and city would auto-populate. I also want the invoice number and the date to generate automatically whenever I open a data entry form. From there, I'd enter the item name, and the unit price and unit of measurement should pop up automatically. Then I'd just enter the quantity, calculate the total for that item, and have the grand total show up at the bottom of the form.

Thanks in advance to anyone with a good attitude and a lot of patience...👍
