Man, there are hundreds of people just like that... But seriously, you don't know any of their other tracks?

I'm definitely one of those people who only knows that one single song, honestly. Embarrassing. But I'm fixing that very soon. And honestly, even today, I still love listening to that old Stiff compilation they released here a while back. It really is fantastic.

It's not like all their songs came out at once or share the exact same vibe, but they are just top-tier...
I wouldn't trade a single pound of The Police for five pounds of U2 or any other similar knockoffs...
Anyway, who's actually listening to them???

I was actually spinning them the other night—that "The Hitmen" compilation, which is a pretty solid snapshot of their career. Man, those stranglers are just incredible.

Honestly, the best album I've heard from them so far has to be "Sound Sculpture"—and it's rare that I prefer a band's pop phase over their punk roots...

Personally, I'm still leaning more toward their early stuff, though what they did later isn't bad at all. Actually, it's quite the opposite.

Robert Allen3, my only issue is with The Swabians. I’ve just never been a fan of their music style...

🙂

Look, if you aren't feeling it, maybe give some French chanteuses a listen instead. Might suit your taste better. Besides, The Swabians actually produced some pretty solid musicians and bands over the years—think Can or even Jingo, for instance.

Slash started playing guitar back in '79 and by '87 he was already a household name globally. Honestly, when you look at it that way, it wasn't even like he needed a whole lifetime to become a top-tier guitarist. The secret sauce was just the sheer grind—the guy used to pull 12-hour sessions every single day. You have to respect that level of dedication; he really is one of those truly great players.

So, basically, if you spend the next three years practicing for 18 hours a day and keep that same energy, you can pretty much expect to be a world-class guitarist by next year. 👍

I’ve been playing guitar for three years now—not trying to brag or anything—but honestly, I think I play better than any of them.

Give it another minute and you'll be just like 😁Slash

Of course I've moved past those kinds of labels too. I actually married a guy who can't carry a tune to save his life (even though he did have a The Stooges tape in his pocket when we first met... )

Don't tell me it was rewound to I Wanna Be Your Dog 🙂
The Most Legendary and Cult Band Ever in Music ·
Kevin Chavez3, I think cult bands are defined by being those groups that never quite hit massive mainstream stardom, but to the dedicated subset of fans who actually know them, they matter more than Jesus. You look at stuff like The Velvet Underground, The Stooges, MC5, The Birthday Party, Gang of Four, Nomeansno, and so on.

Then you definitely have to go with The Fall and Butthole Surfers—they're the ultimate cult acts because they're just incredibly underground. 😁

From Dept S., I’ve only got Is Vic There? which is such a great track, and it actually shows up on a Stiff Records compilation tape that came out here in the States a long time ago.

Lhasa de Sal is a singer out of Montreal who put out an album called "La Llorona" back in '97, if I recall correctly. It wasn't bad at all. Had this cool, jazzy, gypsy vibe to it.

Here are a few more lost gems (I'm still stuck on Britanac), I just don't have the bandwidth right now to write a whole essay on these albums.
Monochrome Set-Love The Zombies, the second album from this incredibly solid group. You could easily lump it in with their first release, Strange Boutique.

Just wanted to mention the album I'm spinning right now: Wah! - Nah = Poo The art of Bluff. It’s honestly really good. Not entirely sure if it ever actually made it onto a full LP though.
