First off, I'm a lady, not a gentleman 😁. And if your septum is actually the problem, you might want to get used to breathing through your mouth for a few days 🤷
northernpanther12 said:What if I realize after surgery that I can't breathe through my mouth alone??
And I have to wait a few days for them to pull the packing out.

Just go see Smith. He'll get it done in 24 hours—meaning he pulls the packing out the very next day if you're just doing cosmetic work and not a septum repair.🙂
driftingpuma26 said:hey Nika, just wanted to give you some encouragement too... I've seen plenty of nonsense on here, so don't sweat it. It isn't actually that bad..
Having tampons up your nose and breathing through your mouth is a little awkward..
But nothing hurts at all.. and I actually feel great..
So just hang in there, and don't believe every stupid thing you read on this forum..
I'm getting my tampons out on Monday, so I'll let you know how that goes 🙂)

I totally get where you're coming from😉, I know exactly what you mean🙂, thanks for the pep talk and good luck on Monday, I'll be rooting for you 😍
Maria Barnes58 said:hey girls..

I recently had nose surgery. I broke it when I was a kid and the bone healed wrong. It didn't look bad from the outside—it actually looked pretty straight, maybe just a tiny bit too big for my face, but that was mostly just my own thing. But over time, breathing became such a massive issue that I finally pulled the trigger on the surgery. I had a deviated septum too.

Since I’d already decided to do it, I asked the doctor if he could slightly shorten it—make it look a little more feminine without changing my whole face. Honestly, I was terrified I wouldn't recognize myself anymore. I know, sounds crazy...😛

Anyway.. the surgery took a few hours (the doctor was incredibly precise and meticulous). When I woke up, I felt great. No nausea, no vomiting, nothing. By that same day, I was already sitting up in bed watching TV and having visitors..

The swelling wasn't bad at all, and I barely had any bruising. My eyes were watering constantly, though—for two days straight. On the second day, there was some minor swelling, but not much, and the bruises were already turning yellow. I wasn't in pain. I went home on the third day and rested for about a week and a half. Within a week, everything had flattened out and the bruises were gone..
Removing the packing wasn't painful at all, nor was removing the plastic films. My bone was tender to the touch for a while, but that's normal and can last 6-12 months.

Real talk: the worst part was the sleep deprivation during the first week because I couldn't sleep on my back. That was exhausting, and my throat burned like hell since I had to breathe through my mouth. But once they took the packing out, the throat pain stopped and I was sleeping normally again by the second week..

It was worth it. I know I won't see the final result until the swelling fully goes down in the coming months, but I'm already stoked. You forget the minor aches and discomfort immediately.. those moments pass, but the nose stays..🙂

thanks for the info 😉, wishing you a fast recovery so you get the nose you've always wanted 😉
Kate Thompson45 said:Thanks for the kiss, but we’re gonna be messaging back and forth a hundred more times before February 22nd. 😂
By the way, my dad's birthday happens to fall right on the day of your surgery, so I KNOW it’s gonna be a good day!
Just stay busy. It really helps.

Oh, and definitely get your hair waxed before the procedure. Who knows how recovery will go—you don't want that on your mind too. 😍

Sweet, then your dad and I can celebrate together 😛. I'll get everything sorted before the surgery, thanks for the tip 😁. As for the lip filler, I'm passing on that since it involves cutting, and I'm too paranoid about things getting complicated 😲. Besides, I can always get a little filler later, but I don't even need it when I look at some of this greenery 🤣.
Kisses 😘 and we'll talk soon either way 😉.
Kate Thompson45 said:Look, everything’s gonna be fine! 😉
Once you're done, you're gonna look incredible—total knockout.
Don't sweat it. You're in good hands. In a few days, you'll be back here posting photos of your new nose and lips, telling us how much you love the results! 😍

While you're waiting for the surgery, try to stay busy. I used to bury myself in work just to keep my mind off things... though I still ended up checking this forum like 15 times a day! 😂

Thanks for the pep talk 😉. Hopefully it all goes smooth 😛. Oh, I forgot to mention—I decided against the lip filler this time 🤣. It felt a little too risky for me 😁. You're right, though, I need to stay busy so I don't obsess over the surgery 😁
. It's scheduled for February 22nd. I'll update everyone once it's over 😍
. Xoxo 😘
Finished all my checkups today. I'm feeling good 😁 and ready for surgery 😛
Just waiting on the clock now. Need this to go by fast and end well 😍
driftingpuma26 said:hey guys!! surgery is done.. I'm stoked!! used local anesthesia so I felt zero and don't remember a thing..
you have no idea how good I feel already, I'm literally on my laptop and the surgery was just this morning..
The nurses say my nose looks perfect!!
Zero pain, just some bandages.. getting the packing out on Monday!!
That's all I've got for now!

Glad to hear it 👋
Enjoy 😉
Kimberly Baker13 said:I don't know. It doesn't look that bad when I'm just talking, but once I start laughing... man. Looking at my own photos makes me feel pretty sick. If I had to pick an animal to compare myself to, I guess it’d be something with a beak. When I'm just standing there normally, it's not exactly a disaster... until I crack a smile.😁

Heh, when I'm talking, it shifts up. When I laugh, it drops down. 🙄 Yeah, I feel like some kind of little animal too. 😁
Kimberly Baker13 said:😲Wait, so if I go to Johnson, half the job isn't even done?!
Donna Castillo7, what's your take, since you're dealing with the exact same nose issue🤷?

Nah, that's not what I meant. Every surgeon has their own way of doing things. I like Smith because he cuts that specific muscle, which is what I need. Maybe you don't need that part done😁
Kate Thompson45 said:Zachary Nguyen29, you nailed this setup, numbing the lips under general anesthesia! It’s always brutal watching them poke at lips with those massive needles.😲
How freaking good is that!!!

Can't wait to hear how everything goes! 😉

I'm heading in for an upper lip eversion, which means surgery.😲
Check out his website and you'll see what I mean—my upper lip is too thin, so he’s going to lift it to give me that forward projection.😁

I'll update everyone once it's done.😘
Wish me luck.😉
Kate Thompson45 said:Man, I need that too. My nose doesn't even look that bad when I'm being quiet, but the second I smile, the tip just drops.
And I love to talk! 😂

So, if I decide to go under the knife with Smith again... 😲

obviously back to Smith 😉, I'll let you know how it goes 😁

When I smile, my nose drops too 🙄, hopefully it'll be fine now 😍
Kimberly Baker13 said:So does that mean even after the fix, the nose still tilts downward when I smile if they don't do that specific part during surgery?

Yeah, exactly that. 😁
Kimberly Baker13 said:Donna Castillo7, glad you're happy with the results. My nose issue is identical to yours. Mine is way too long with a weird bulbous tip, and when I laugh, it looks endless. You actually gave me some courage. Thanks! Send me a private message with some photos once you get that mold off!
Can someone explain this muscle cutting thing Smith does during surgery?

Regarding that muscle cutting Smith performs—that's exactly what I'm looking for. When I talk, my upper lip pulls on my nose, making the tip move around while I speak.😁
So I'm stoked if that gets fixed too.🙂
Kate Thompson45 said:Honey, what about those little nuggets? 👋 I thought you were only doing nose work, then out of nowhere... 😉
Great timing on the appointment. You'll be through this before you know it, just watch. I'm stoked! 🎉

Yeah, exactly. Just the upper lip. 😁 Since I'm already doing the whole thing anyway, might as well just knock it all out in one shot. 😁
Now we just play the waiting game and hope everything turns out fine. 🙂
I don't know what you're trying to say. Get to the point. 😍
Kate Thompson45 said:I’m still just weighing my options on nose surgery, so I can't give you any firsthand advice. Honestly, it all comes down to how much you actually hate what you're working with. You've got people who absolutely loathe their nose and feel like a whole new person once they get rid of a hump, then you've got people like me who just want some minor tweaks—like narrowing the tip a bit. That’s what’s holding me back. My nose isn't exactly a disaster, so I'm still on the fence. 😂 I'm worried I might just mess up what I already have. Besides, my doctor already told me my nose looks fine as it is.

No clue, I'm just here! 😁 On the topic of nose jobs... 🤷

I'm here. 😁
Got my appointment set for February 22nd. Now I just have to deal with endless Googling and constant anxiety until then. 😛
Hoping everything goes smooth. Can't wait to get this new nose and my braces sorted. 😁
I'll keep you guys posted. Fingers crossed. 😍
Kate Thompson45 said:Zachary Nguyen29, I’m seriously glad you got everything sorted out! :S I also loved how patient Smith is with everyone. It doesn't feel like he's just churning through patients on a conveyor belt; he actually makes you feel like you're his top priority.
As for the anesthesia, I went under last Monday. I was terrified, but it went perfectly. No nausea, definitely didn't throw up! :S I'm a smoker, so that was my biggest worry. The Anesthesiologist at Smith's office is incredibly sweet and really knows how to calm you down. When I laid down on the table in the OR, I looked at the doctor and asked, "It's gonna be okay, right?!" He just laughed and said yes. Then they told me I'd start feeling a little lightheaded, and I blurted out, "Okay, now I'm actually freaking out!" The next thing I knew, I was waking up in a hospital bed and they were checking on me. The doctor told me the surgery went great and to just rest so we could talk later. He kept checking in on me throughout the day—asking if I was okay, if I was in pain, if I was hungry... Honestly, don't worry, girl. You're in good hands!!! 🙂
When did you schedule the surgery? Are you doing the tests through Medicare or directly through him?

The doctor is awesome, but I'm still pretty scared. Thanks for the encouragement, though, it helps a lot.😉, I haven't scheduled the actual surgery yet because I need to get all my tests done first, then I'll reach out to him to set it up.😛
I'll probably do the tests through him. I don't want my primary care doctor gossiping about it; we know each other personally, and I want this to stay private.😁
Oh, and I have to get my thyroid levels checked too, since I've been having issues there.🙄
Anyway, that's the update for now. I'll let you know once I know more. Hopefully, I can start the testing soon.😉
Kate Thompson45 said:Zachary Nguyen29, don't sweat it. Just be brave. Definitely let us know how the consultation goes. If I ever decide to get a nose job, I’m definitely going to Smith. I really dig how Johnson handles the tip. That's my main issue. I thought it had to look that way until I saw Smith's work. He fixes them up and they look killer.
I'd get my nose done too, but just the tip, because mine feels too long and wide. No bumps or anything, just want to slim it down and shorten it.
I saw someone else post about a similar issue, but with all these threads, I can't remember who 😕. Maybe I should have just sent a private message 😂

Here's my take: I just finished my consultation with Dr. Smith and he's top-tier. He's
super polite and the noses I saw were gorgeous. Now I just need to get my tests done since I'll be under general anesthesia (the whole general thing freaks me out a bit, but the doctor says it's better than local). I just want to shorten my nose—no bumps here, and breathing is fine, it's just a bit too big for my small face. Oh, and I might touch up my upper lip while I'm at it 😉
Paul Sullivan88, thanks for the pep talk. Honestly, I need all the courage I can get right now, but once I get my medical results together, I'm moving forward and I'll update you on everything 😛
Huge thanks to the doctor for being so patient, too, since I asked him basically every question imaginable 😛
Kate Thompson45 said:gentlemaker46, sorry you're so unhappy with your nose. I went to Ostojic for a different surgery and I gotta say, I’m extremely happy with him and his whole team. They really know their stuff.
I'll keep this brief.
I went in for a consultation regarding a different procedure and brought up my nose on the side. He looked at me like I was crazy and told me my nose looks fine and he didn't see why I'd want to fix anything!!! When a surgeon—someone who literally lives off insecure people wanting smaller breasts, bigger butts, better noses, or tighter faces—tells you that, then I think we can stop talking about Ostojic just chasing a paycheck. If he were only in it for the money, like gentlemaker46 said, he would have just played along and said, "Yeah, sure, we can fix that, here's the price." Before my surgery, he patiently answered my million questions and was always polite. I never felt rushed or like he was just trying to get me out the door. And I KNOW I was being annoying because I kept harping on the same thing over and over! 😂
Before I decided to trust him, my biggest question for any surgeon was: what happens if there are complications? What's the protocol? Some doctors (the ones I saw before him) tried to tell me "that's impossible," BUT we're all human and even the best make mistakes. Ostojic didn't act like he was God; he was straight with me and said we would do a revision if needed, because patient satisfaction is his metric for success. That was enough for me.
Zachary Nguyen29, you can trust Ostojic. He does seriously beautiful noses (I've seen them on friends and in his portfolio). He's done over 1,500 nose jobs, so you don't need to worry.

And you, gentlemaker46, I'm sorry you're unhappy, but isn't it weird that this other doctor you mentioned is asking for SO much cash!!! It also seems strange that you're mentioning a right bone that didn't heal right when the bump you're complaining about is gone? How do you know that doctor is actually skilled if she doesn't even see the bump you're talking about???

Thanks so much, you actually made me feel a bit better. I have an exam tomorrow, so I'll let you guys know how it goes. Thanks again. 😉
Rebecca Gomez37 said:The only thing hospital doctors can actually guarantee you is that the surgery won't cost you a dime. Everything else? It's a gamble, even with hospital staff—who, let's be honest, usually do the bare minimum whether they're working for the state or running a private practice.
None of us who went under the knife made that call overnight. Picking a surgeon isn't easy either. I spent hours staring at before-and-after photos before I finally pulled the trigger...
At the end of the day, everyone's got their own unique experience, and that's just how it goes on these forums.
If I were you, I wouldn't dodge Ostojic. He can definitely fix the issue, but man, the way these surgeons try to talk you out of what you want is infuriating. It drives you crazy.
Once they realize they're dealing with someone who actually knows what they want, they'll pivot just to keep you happy. So, don't back down. Be persistent.

I'm with you 100%. 😉
