I mean, there are definitely some real experts here who can give you a better answer, but from what I've gathered looking through similar threads—I guess—if you're eyeing that GTX 760, you might want to bump up your processor a bit. And if you're thinking about the GTX 770? Yeah, you'll probably want an i5 to really keep up, especially for those heavy-duty games where you actually want the card to breathe, you know?

As for that Phenom, honestly, I think a Radeon HD 7870 would be such a killer best buy—it'd probably let you cruise through most newer games without any major issues for quite a while!

I was just poking around online trying to track down some deals on a Radeon 7750—you know how it is when you're hunting for that specific piece of hardware! So, I actually started a thread about this once—I think I was asking for advice? And everyone basically told me to just throw in a GeForce GTX 460 instead. They were saying that as long as my processor isn't totally bottoming out, it should run pretty smoothly... plus, that card is actually beefier than a Radeon HD 7770, if I remember correctly!

So, my monitor resolution is set to 1650x1050, and I can't seem to get my framerate any higher than 60 FPS on Fraps—I'm guessing that's just because my monitor is capped at 60Hz, right?

Honestly? The less the better... I mean, I'm really just looking for a new card, provided there's actually a noticeable jump in performance.

From what I've been digging up, I don't see any point in looking below $167 since anything else in that price range is either worse, the same, or maybe just a tiny bit better than my current card (which I grabbed back in 2009 for like a hundred bucks).

My main goal is to grab something that'll last me a few more years without getting totally bottlenecked by my CPU—while still feeling like an actual upgrade—all without breaking the bank, you know? So, basically, cheap is best.

Like I mentioned, I'm eyeing the 7750 or the 7770... that's pretty much my limit. Plus, based on the benchmarks I saw, those seem to be the only ones that show a decent boost over my old card while staying somewhat affordable. At least, that's how I read it anyway!

I really don't want to just throw money away, so if there's some older gen card out there (either ATI or Nvidia) that hits that sweet spot I'm looking for, I'd super appreciate some recommendations.

So, I'm currently running an 8800 GTS 512 MB and I'm looking to swap it out—probably eyeing a 7750, 7770, or something along those lines... though I'm worried anything higher might be way too much for my CPU (an Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 clocked at 3.6 GHz). I usually play at 1650x1050 resolution.

Looking at this benchmark, it seems like the 7770 scores more than twice as high as my current card. Does that mean I can pretty much expect a massive jump in gaming performance? I doubt it'll literally be double in real life, but there should definitely be a noticeable boost, right?

For instance, I'm playing Borderlands 2 right now with most settings on high, AA and AF turned off, and a few other stuff too (can't remember them all off the top of my head). It runs okay, maybe 35-45 FPS, though it dips below 30 when things get crazy on screen, but it's basically playable.

I got burned once a long time ago when I upgraded my rig with a new card and the performance gain was just... negligible. It left a really bad taste in my mouth, especially since I'd already dropped the cash...

If you guys know of any better benchmarks, please let me know! Thanks.

So, I’m planning on heading to the doctor sometime in the next few days because my ankles and heels have been absolutely killing me. I play basketball recreationally—well, I used to be way more active about it—but lately, I’ve been waking up with this intense pain in my left heel. Honestly, it's bad enough that I can barely hobble my way to the bathroom in the morning.

Once I get moving and warm things up a bit, the pain usually fades away.

From everything I’ve looked up online, it sounds like I might have some tendonitis at the heel attachment, or maybe even a calcified heel spur.
Anyway, one of the main ways to deal with this—or I guess "manage" it since prevention is probably out the window at this point—is getting some high-quality orthopedic sports insoles to wear in my shoes all day, not just when I'm playing ball.

I was wondering, does Medicare cover the cost of custom orthotics at all, like fully or even just partially?
Assuming, of course, that I get a referral from my doctor first.
