2. Nvidia GTX 465 with 1GB

3. Nvidia GTX 470 with 1GB (EDIT - actually it has 1280MB)

4. AMD/ATI HD5850 with 1GB

5. AMD/ATI HD6870 with 1GB

Most of these are pretty old cards that aren't even in stores anymore (except maybe an HD 6870 here and there)...

Either way, you could probably get decent cash for that CPU; I see plenty of people online hunting for "high-end" processors for the LGA 775 socket, and yours is definitely one of the heavy hitters. 😉

Actually, it's totally possible. The Athlon 6000+ comes in two different speeds (3GHz and 3.1GHz), so they aren't actually that rare. 😉

🤦 back to this discussion 😬

The motherboard is old, but honestly, it's solid and supports AM3 processors, so that's that.

Intel Core i3-4130 $150
2x2GB Kingmax DDR3 1333mhz $33
Sapphire 6850 1 GB 650-$233
ASUS B85 (not entirely sure which one, maybe a C45?) $67
Gigabyte gz-x6 case $50
XFX 450W $83
500 GB HDD (not sure of the model 🙄 ) $100
Some kind of DVD drive (roughly $50 ) $27
Dell 22 Monitor (only a month old, still under warranty) $233

...maybe $250+ for everything.

If 128-bit cards are really that bad, how do you explain the HD7770 being more powerful than the GTX 280, which is 512-bit? 🤦

It’s almost like you summoned this review... cards that launched at roughly the same price point (with the 9800 gt actually being more expensive) will obviously be playable at 1280x1024 if the FPSi stay decent on high settings... assuming you aren't trying to run Call of Duty / Halo / Battlefield.☕

Anyway... when it comes to playing demanding titles, the 9800 gt has become pretty much irrelevant over the last few years.😬

Can someone make sense of this? I see these crazy powerful cards that only have a 128-bit bus,
while I'm still rocking my old Nvidia 9800 which was 256-bit. What gives?tersdiv>

Well, the GTX 280 actually has a 512-bit bus, so it's roughly as fast as an HD 7770 despite that being only 128-bit. 😲 😬

Alexander Moore67 said:http://www.newegg.com/product_info.php?c...d369fb7996f0e2 I guess you'd get some pretty decent cooling for that kind of money.

That seems like way too much to pay for an HD 7850...

Alexander Moore67 said:He’s basically saying that the 450 DDR3 and the 4870 DDR5 perform pretty much the same.

😬

The HD 4870 is more like an HD 6770 or 5770.

I mean, the GTS 450(DDR3) really struggles to keep up even with an HD 6670(DDR5)...

I guess that Radeon HD 6670 you linked earlier is probably your best bet for that price point...

I guess this board actually supports real Crossfire.
Maybe grab another AMD Radeon RX 580? If you've got a solid power supply and a decent CPU cooler, you could probably try overclocking it.
An NVIDIA GTX 1060 probably won't make much of a difference for you.

Sorry, but... 🤦

That Asrock board only has 4+1 phase regulation compared to the 8+2 on the ASUS Prime Z790, and honestly, it’s more expensive too... I guess.
The GTX 660Ti is nearly twice as powerful, so I guess it shouldn't give you any trouble with the CompactFlash.

That board has pretty weak bandwidth on the second PCI-e slot (it's just x4), so I guess Crossfire scaling is going to be significantly handicapped. Plus, that power supply only has two dedicated PCI-e connectors for GPUs, so you’d probably have to use a Molex adapter. It might hold up, but I think it'll be sweating a little (110+110+95+everything else). 😛

EDIT: Man, I am absolutely wiped out 😬

Are you running a triple monitor setup? 😬

You just need another 4GB of RAM and a decent CPU cooler, though honestly, that motherboard is pretty entry-level... I guess you'd probably need to drop at least $1000 on some upgrades to see a real difference. 😛
