Karen Thompson10 said:Michael Diaz4, you have no idea how much it means to me to know that my advice actually helped someone. Honestly, there have been plenty of times when people on this forum have stepped up and saved my skin, too. That’s exactly why I felt compelled to share my thoughts.
Once you’re back from surgery and have had some time to recover, please write up a detailed post about everything. I'd love to know the doctor's name and exactly what method they used. It would be such a massive help for anyone else dealing with similar issues to have that kind of information. For me, the hardest part was definitely just finding a decent doctor I could actually trust. 🤷

Regarding the pain... you're going to be just fine at the clinic. They’ll have you hooked up to an IV, pumping you full of heavy-duty antibiotics constantly, so you won't feel much of anything while you're there. The real "fun" starts once you get back home. But honestly, believe me, after everything you've been through, it won't be unbearable. And just remember: once this is over, those attacks are gone for good!

I'm wishing you so much luck, a really speedy recovery, and—fingers crossed—as little post-op pain as possible! 😉

I’m back, just like I promised. My surgery wrapped up this past Wednesday the 16th, and I’m heading in for my follow-up appointment today. Honestly, things got pretty intense and dangerous. The specialist who performed the procedure told me there were four ulcers on the internal hemorrhoids, along with a massive thrombosis. He said it was a literal miracle that the clot didn't break loose—if it had, things could have gone south very quickly.😱🙂 It was an emergency, and it was complicated. I was placed in the gynecological position for the procedure. They gave me a spinal block beforehand, and honestly, I wanted to be completely knocked out—I didn't want to sit there listening to the whole surgery unfold. That first night after the operation was rough. Sleep was non-existent. As the anesthesia started wearing off, the pain intensified, though even that felt like a reprieve compared to what I’d been enduring at home. They inserted a catheter while I was still under. It came out in the morning, along with the packing from the rectal area, which was incredibly painful. After a bit of rest and a nap, I had to wash up and get moving immediately to keep my circulation going. The second night was even harder. Urinating was difficult. I was on IV fluids, getting sedatives, antibiotics, and various infusions. I also had two injections in my abdomen—blood thinners to prevent clots and thrombosis, plus some shots for the pain. By midnight on that second night, I just hit a wall. Between the exhaustion and the pain, I finally surrendered to fate, took my meds, and drifted off. At 6:00 AM, the doctor made his rounds. The professor explained that they surgically cleared everything necessary. He mentioned using Doppler and perhaps some kind of laser cauterization on the vein deep inside. The goal was to protect the nerve zone that controls bowel movements. After that second night, they cleared me to go home. They told me to keep gauze between my buttocks because the wound keeps draining, and I need to change it frequently and keep the area clean. The first night back home was unpleasant, and the second was equally tough with very little sleep. It wasn't until the third night that I actually managed to sleep. Diet-wise, it’s strictly soft foods right now: soups, crackers with milk, and tea. Stools are supposed to be soft and a bit reddish due to the site where the internal hemorrhoids were removed. I’m currently taking antibiotics and medication for circulation. They warned me to avoid Tylenol because it can increase bleeding, though they said maybe one or two wouldn't hurt if absolutely necessary. I chose to skip them entirely. It’s a struggle; controlling my bowel movements is difficult, but I’m managing somehow. The facility I stayed at was a private clinic. In terms of accommodations, it was top-tier—it had plasma TVs, satellite, and even a DVD player, though I wasn't really in the mood for any of that. It had its own bathroom and kitchenette. It was so clean, and the hospital bed was so well-adjusted, you wouldn't even realize you were in a medical facility. I don't want to name the clinic here just in case I'm breaking any forum rules, but if the moderators allow it, I will. Or, if anyone is interested, feel free to send me a private message. I won't be online much, so I'll respond a bit later, but I'm happy to share all the details with anyone who needs them. This clinic is truly world-class. 🙏👍. My sister is available 24/7 to help out. And if heaven forbid any complications pop up, my professor actually lives right across the hall in the same building. This team is top-tier, truly first-rate. The recovery period is rough, though. Today the pain is a bit more manageable, but it’s definitely still there. Even when I try to brace myself, it isn't quite as intense as it was before, so I'm staying hopeful. I am a little nervous about the follow-up appointment; I'm really hoping they don't have to touch the wound since it's still tender and there's some bloody discharge. It's also going to be pretty awkward dealing with bowel movements while I'm getting back on my feet, so I just hope everything goes smoothly. I want to thank that wonderful lady on the forum again. They told me I showed up at the absolute last minute—apparently, I was almost having to go under the knife through my abdomen because this was one of the toughest cases they've seen. They even asked me how I had been living with this much pain all this time...

Karen Thompson10 said:I wasn't being precise. I meant that surgery is the only PERMANENT solution, since everything else just manages the symptoms.

I completely agree that there are alternatives and that you can successfully live with Hemorrhoids for a lifetime (I managed to function normally for a few years myself), but "successfully managing" shouldn't mean someone has to be in agony several times a year or unable to function. I was talking about a specific situation here. Even I wouldn't have dared to go under the knife if things hadn't become unbearable.

Doctors told me that people usually don't show up until they're in the final stages or when complications arise. What Leslie is saying points right to that. Things aren't exactly "normal" or "under control" if someone can't leave their house for three weeks and falls into a depression, right?

Of course, if someone has mild symptoms and handles them well, they shouldn't head straight to the operating table. If everything is under control, great. But if it isn't—you go straight to the doctor.

Thank you, you really saved me...👍 I am incredibly grateful to you. As soon as I felt my condition worsening—because I actually felt better for a few days, even took Friday off work—I realized I had to act. I opened this thread, read your post, and immediately called a highly respected professor. Now I'm back home getting prepared. The professor mentioned I’ll have a rough night; I have to take various cleansing agents every two hours. Tomorrow morning I have general checkups, then prep for surgery around noon, and at 2:00 PM, the emergency procedure is scheduled. We couldn't wait another day for the prep; we had to move fast. I even received an IV and antibiotics through the line. Over the weekend, I had a severe sore throat and a high fever. My primary care physician didn't realize it was connected, but the professor recoiled when I told him. He checked my tongue and throat, frowned, and said it was a consequence of the Hemorrhoid. Right then, he said it had likely become infected. He tried to get a better look later, but couldn't tell for sure if it was that or a fissure. Tomorrow they’ll put me under, and that should fix everything. It’s going to cost me quite a bit, but money isn't the issue; you'll do anything for your health. So, thank you again. Because of your influence, I analyzed everything and reached a similar conclusion, and the professor confirmed what my intuition was telling me—the fever and sore throat were caused by the Hemorrhoid. Thanks again.👍 Standard procedure involves two days in the clinic, though I might stay an extra day or two given how bad this is. I'm expecting significant pain. I'll check back in a few days with my impressions. I hope everything goes okay. I'm not a coward, but it's hard not to feel uneasy knowing what kind of pain is waiting for me. Harvey stays quiet, and I don't think my life is in danger...😁 Thanks again for the... well, I hope to check in again in a few days...😉

Eric Chase12 said:COMPLETELY WRONG!!!! Why does anyone think there isn't an alternative?? At least 50% of sufferers NEVER end up in surgery! It doesn't occur to me, and I've been managing this successfully for 30 years. A little dietary adjustment, some Excedrin, a bit of vein gel, and year after year, things actually get better—though I agree, there’s no permanent fix. So what? You can live a perfectly normal life if you pay a little attention. Maybe someone actually died from hemorrhoids due to bleeding, but I've certainly never heard of it!

I've been living with hemorrhoids for a little over 17 years now. It's manageable. About four and a half years ago, things got pretty rough and painful, but I pulled through. It's not an impossible thing to live with, provided things don't get complicated. And that's exactly what happened. My doctor told me things could take a really dark turn and that I've waited until the very last minute. I should have acted sooner; it would have been much easier, but now I'm facing a very difficult surgery...😢 For reasons I can't quite explain, everything just escalated, and surgery is my only option. It's not like I'm new to this. My first major disaster was back in 1994, then again in '95, and I kept it under control until late 2006. Even back then, I thought I could handle it without seeing a specialist. Now, I've hit the breaking point. It's terrible...🙄

Has anyone else dealt with what I’m going through right now? If you have, how did you actually fix it? Honestly, I’m at my breaking point. It feels like I can’t even face leaving the house anymore. The pain is constant, and this depression is just starting to pull me under. I can't keep living like this. I've been fighting hemorrhoids for nearly twenty years, but I'm officially tapped out. Is surgery really the only way out of this nightmare?

Man, I’ve been dealing with this hemorrhoid flare-up for over a month now. It’s been rough. I’ve actually been out on medical leave for three weeks already, and now I’m heading into my fourth week of being unable to work. Honestly, things got so desperate that I even went to see a holistic healer when I felt like I was losing hope. I also finished a heavy course of 1000 mg Xiclav antibiotics. That didn't fully clear everything up, though there was some significant improvement—it just couldn't quite tackle how intense the initial inflammation was. So, three weeks later, I went back to that same healer (who really does seem to have a track record), and while things felt noticeably better, they still weren't gone. He gave me a specific cream to apply after every bathroom trip. But then, on the third day leading up to my final session, things took a turn for the worse and the pain spiked again. When I mentioned it to him, he just told me the healing process takes about 40 to 50 days and to just stick with the cream. Then, this past Sunday, things started looking up briefly, but then I caught a sore throat. Yesterday wasn't too bad, but today? Today is a step backward. I'm at a loss. If I had just opted for surgery right at the start, I probably would have been fine by now...😠 My plan is to go see a specialist at a private clinic to get a real answer. This has easily been one of the worst stretches of my life. My diet is pretty disciplined—no spicy foods, small amounts of whole grain bread, and I'm taking Portalak regularly. Everything seems fine on the digestion side, but this morning after using the restroom, the discomfort was actually worse than before. It feels like the only way out of this is for a specialist to just perform the surgery...🙄

I’m heading into my second week on sick leave. Honestly, the pain only started easing up last night and today, to the point where it's actually tolerable. Right now, I’ve been using Ultraproct cream and taking Portalak syrup to help with digestion. I’d definitely recommend both. A few years back, Ultraproct didn't seem to do much for me—maybe I just wasn't consistent enough with it🤷—but after five days and cracking open a second tube, things finally seem to be looking up. And honestly? The best thing you can do while on this kind of treatment is just stay in bed. Stick to light soups, some gentle cooked meals—nothing heavy, just moderate portions with plenty of greens and chicken. Just lie down, binge some lighthearted shows, and stay far away from the news. You don't need the political stress messing with your recovery. That’s my current battle plan...

I mentioned a few days ago that kiwi might help with digestion. I’m taking that back. Honestly, don't do it. For a lot of people, they’re just too acidic and hard to digest, which ends up aggravating hemorrhoids like crazy. Sure, it might soften things up, but the trade-off is just too much irritation. Seriously, skip them...

Well, there was some bleeding before, but it's stopped now. Still, the pain comes back whenever I've been standing too long. I really need to go lie down. Thanks for the advice...

Man, I have been absolutely wrecked these last few days. I’ve been crying like a little kid. It seems to be looking a bit better since last night, though. The real issue is that any kind of bowel movement just irritates those inflamed hemorrhoids.😠 Honestly, I went through this exact same thing a few years ago. It took about 20 or 30 days and two separate stints on medical leave before I finally got it under control. But the day before yesterday and yesterday? I was struggling harder than I ever have in my life. Believe me, there were moments where I thought it would be easier to just die than to keep enduring this level of pain. In the end, I managed to regulate things using Portalak syrup, which is lactulose-based. I highly recommend it to everyone—seriously, use it. It makes the stool more liquid without turning into full-blown diarrhea. Eating kiwi helped me too. The point is, you can't have firm stools right now; they need to be more fluid, and Portalak is honestly brilliant for that. Last night, for no apparent reason, things took a turn for the worse. The inflammation flared up so badly I actually felt like I was running a fever twice during the day. I was shivering uncontrollably even though my apartment was nice and warm. But it looks like I finally found the right remedy: Lidoproct. Here is what is in it: per gram of rectal ointment, you get 180 mg zinc oxide, 50 mg Lidocaine, 35 mg Aluminum subacetate, and 2.5 mg hydrocortisone acetate. It really seems to numb the irritated area. Anything that isn't inflamed doesn't feel sensitive to the touch, and the inflamed parts become much more bearable. Things are trending upward now, so I'm going to go lie down. I can't stand for long; the blood pools in the veins and then the pain kicks in.

It looks like this FedEx stuff is a total bust. Honestly, I’ve seen zero improvement after 24 hours—none at all. I know you aren't supposed to swap products constantly, but this FedEx cream just isn't doing anything for me yet. It feels like I might have to go back to Hadens. Damn them, the pain is driving me crazy.😠

Douglas Carter60 said:I had an issue the other day where my hemorrhoids started bleeding, and it just wouldn't stop. What should I do? Help, please... THANK YOU.😕

Just put something on it. Honestly, I think some Hadens might actually help you out. Or maybe try that chamomile cream, or even FactCheck or Sagitaproct... just use anything at this point, because you really need to get that bleeding to stop. As for dealing with inflammation, if that’s what you're facing—well, that's a whole other conversation. We're all in the same boat there, asking the same questions and sharing what we've learned.

So, I just went searching through the archives to see what everyone was saying. Just as I suspected. Everyone’s got their own opinion on what works. I'm not entirely sure what to expect when I check back in a few hours, but I recently started using Hadens, so I'm going to try FedEx tonight. To be honest, I’ve been coming onto these forums as a veteran of this struggle; I've been dealing with hemorrhoids for nearly two decades now, and they have absolutely wrecked my life. A long time ago, FactCheck actually helped me out. But lately, whenever things flare up, nothing seems to touch the pain. Since FactCheck doesn't contain any corticosteroids, it isn't really designed to handle severe inflammation anyway. A few years back, the pain was so intense I honestly thought I might die. I was screaming like a banshee. Now, I feel like I'm standing right on the edge of that kind of nightmare again...😢

Has anyone here actually used Hadens cream before? I know it’s manufactured in Austria... Is it any better than FedEx cream? A friend recommended FedEx to me, and now that I've opened it, I noticed the scent is almost identical to Hadens—it's got that menthol kick. What should I do? Should I stick with the Hadens or just switch over to FedEx? The pain is absolutely brutal; I'm currently out on medical leave because it's been a total nightmare.😠

That was a fantastic race for anyone who managed to walk away with points. Honestly, there weren't many glaring mistakes out there, aside from Rosberg. I just don't think the kid is quite ready for the big stage yet. He was putting on some serious pressure on MS until he finally blinked and went wide... And while Kobayashi really shouldn't have clipped him, I guess he dodged a bullet there.

Webber showed his true colors 🙏 That's how you squeeze a teammate and wreck your own team's chances. Bravo. 🙏 🤮

After that whole scandal, he goes and leaves him with zero space again today. Unbelievable. Just pure madness. 🙏 🤮

From here on out, I’d rather cheer for Hamilton to take the title than watch Webber 🙄

As for Zalonso and Kubik, Zalonso had nowhere to go. Where were the stewards looking?! This penalty and the way it played out is the joke of the season. 🤮 If he takes out half the officials and half the pit crews, I won't blame him one bit. ☕

Did I mention how nauseating this race has been?

🙂

You're right. Total disgrace from Webber. At this point, I'm rooting for Alonso or literally anyone else. There's just no point anymore...
