Voice issues / Losing my voice in Health ·
I’m currently flying solo without it, too. Honestly, if I just talk a little more than usual, it seems to bail on me already.
It’s been four days now since I last had any, and I am losing my mind...
Nothing seems to work.
Colon discharge issues in Health ·
Are you absolutely positive that's coming from the large intestine?
Where can I pick up a Slinky? in Miscellaneous ·
awwww Slinky 😍
I want one too.
HELP!!! in Health ·
Do you really think telling me to go see a doctor is helpful? None of us here are psychic, last I checked.

And honestly, it’s probably for the best that your title makes it obvious what this is even about.🙄
Chapped lips/dry skin around mouth help? in Health ·
It’ll probably just clear up on its own, but if you're dealing with dry lips, try using a salve or some Burt's Bees calendula balm—you can grab one at any CVS for a couple of bucks. Both are solid options, though honestly, that calendula stuff works slightly better for lip repair. If you stick with it, you shouldn't have to deal with this annoyance anymore. 😉
Why are my hands always freezing? in Health ·
Yeah, well... cold hands... mine are practically ice cubes almost all the time. It isn't my blood pressure, though—that’s actually on the high side. I've just dealt with anemia my entire life, so that’s likely the culprit (just like crimsonbison6 mentioned)
So, you're saying if I take iron alongside vitamin C and a B-complex, it might actually help keep my iron levels steady for longer? Because, honestly, I am beyond exhausted with having to choke down iron pills every few months...
Oral sex safety: What are your thoughts? in Health ·
[xtrem3] says:
Oral sex leads to pregnancy!

Please tell me you're joking.

😂😂😂

Honestly, you find all sorts of nonsense on this forum... sometimes I really have to wonder what kind of people crawl out from under whatever rock they’ve been hiding under just to post such absolute stupidity.
Xerox vs. O-Xerox in Health ·
I’ve got Xeroxes too, but they aren't even noticeable anymore... when I was little, I had them
Best way to swallow pills? in Health ·
Have you ever tried taking a sip of water right before you put the pill in your mouth? I mean, you hold that little bit of water in your mouth, then drop the tablet in so it just floats there in the liquid, and then you swallow it all at once. That’s my little trick... and then, just to be safe, I always take another sip of water afterward. It works like a charm for me... give it a shot.
Dealing with hypo- and hyperpigmentation in Health ·
isuse, gentlehound9, for heaven's sake, why on earth are you crying about this? Just go back and actually read through some of the other health threads for once.
If they managed to get through it without showing any actual skin symptoms, there's a chance they didn't actually develop any immunity to them.
I dealt with it twice myself. The first time was pretty mild, but the second bout? Absolutely brutal. My doctor told me the reason it hit me so hard the second time was because I hadn't built up any real immunity during that first encounter.
Coffee: yay or nay? in Health ·
Jamie Barnes60 said:It’s the same story at my place. 🙂 Though, if I play my cards right, I can occasionally nudge my man to get up and brew a pot, 😍 so there's coffee waiting for me the second I open my eyes. 😉

Man, I envy you. There isn't a soul here to make me a cup... the only time I actually see coffee ready for me is when I'm back home and my mom has it waiting.
Coffee: yay or nay? in Health ·
Jamie Barnes60 said:I’m the same way—I can’t function without coffee. If I don't get my fix in the morning, I’m basically a zombie. I get cranky, irritable, and the headaches are absolutely brutal.
so ☕ 😁

It’s the same story for me, though I skip the headaches.
Honestly, coffee is the only reason I wake up an hour earlier than I actually want to. I grab the coffee pot, stumble toward the kitchen in a total daze, and then just retreat back to bed until the water starts boiling. Once I’ve had enough, I slowly start feeling like a human being again.
Ever since I started working while balancing my college classes, one cup a day just doesn't cut it anymore. It’s exhausting, and halfway through my shift, I feel like I’m crashing hard. Since there isn't any decent brewed coffee at the office—just that terrible machine sludge—I end up bringing a Red Bull. When I feel myself hitting a wall, I crack one open and I’m a new person.
Don't worry, I don't overdo the caffeine. Just my morning coffee and maybe one Red Bull during work. That's usually plenty. I might ramp up the caffeine intake during finals week when I'm studying, but that's about it.

Man, I really went on a rant there. 😂
Help! I think I have phimosis! in Health ·
Hmm, look, you’ve got a few different ways to play this. If you aren't ready to jump on the operating table just yet, you could try handling things manually—just, you know, be careful not to be too rough about it. I've heard of it working for some people given enough time...
As for surgery, it doesn't necessarily mean a full circumcision. They can just perform a minor procedure to release that tissue that's preventing everything from covering properly...
Looking for a Ukrainian doctor in the area in Health ·
I went to see him. It was for physical ailments—I can’t speak to any mental health stuff. He prescribed these little pills, three different kinds you take before meals. I finished one full round of them and honestly? I didn't feel a single bit better. To make matters worse, all three types tasted exactly the same. It made me wonder if the whole thing was just a glorified placebo effect.
I saw him twice and then just called it quits. I don't know. Maybe I should have stuck with it, but I walked away with this nagging impression that he can spot what's wrong with you, but he's utterly powerless to actually fix it...
My sister ended up seeing him too. She was dealing with these intense stomach pains that the doctors at the Mayo Clinic couldn't quite pin down. He didn't give her a diagnosis either; just handed her those same pills. After several rounds, she wasn't feeling any better either.

At the end of the day, my gut tells me he's just out for the money...
Hymenotomy procedure in Women's Health ·
slywolf45 said:I'm with you on this one. First off, general anesthesia can cause way more complications than just local. And don't even get me started on that "wonderful" feeling when you wake up—the nausea, the vomiting, all that fun stuff..👎

Hmm, waking up after general anesthesia with nausea and vomiting? I didn't have any issues like that; I was just sleepy all day long. It’s not even the same procedure. I just stumbled upon this thread and read what was being said about the general anesthesia option, so I figured I'd chime in and say my experience was different...

But honestly, I agree with most people here. Stick with the local if you can, since it isn't such a major ordeal...

1) They vaccinate you against the strains predicted to be dominant during the upcoming season, not against whatever was around last year. The whole idea is to prepare you for the specific viruses people will actually be catching this season...
2) Vaccination is typically done two to three months before flu season peaks, which is when you should get it. Of course, it makes no sense to get vaccinated after you're already sick—I didn't say that either...

Yeah, they vaccinate you against what they ASSUME will be dominant. That doesn't mean the virus hasn't mutated in the meantime and rendered the shot ineffective.

Brandon Fox9 said:Fighting off the flu... the absolute best way to handle it...

Actually, it isn't. The influenza virus mutates constantly. You get vaccinated against whatever strain was circulating last season, but rarely does that match the actual beast currently tearing through the population. It’s a guessing game.

Besides, once you've already caught it, the shot is useless. It's strictly preventative. Its whole purpose is to prime the body to create antibodies for that specific virus. Once the infection is already in your system, there's no point in vaccinating; at that stage, your body is just doing the work of creating antibodies on its own anyway.

I just barely clawed my way out from under the flu last week. Honestly, the fever just refused to budge, and I was basically glued to my bed—which didn't help since I was all by myself. Once that temperature hit 103.1 in the morning, my dad finally hopped in the car, came to grab me, and drove me home. I slept for a few days straight, and eventually, things started looking up. But, because life is never simple, the flu decided to invite a sinus infection, a sore throat, and an earache to the party, so now I’m stuck on antibiotics. And yeah, I’m dealing with that exact same issue Carl Alvarez572 mentioned: I absolutely cannot eat anything.
