On the other hand... hats off to the master for picking such a "truly legendary" Waterboys album. And even more credit to Kenneth Price6 for including that incredibly underrated crew from Leeds. Honestly, I feel like their true essence is captured much better in those early singles and specific eras rather than in their full albums as standalone works...

In that spirit—here’s another little nostalgic trip down memory lane to Apple Friday (RIP), where I first heard Talk About The Weather in my entire life...

Uh... it looks like my usual window for brainstorming and dropping suggestions from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM just doesn't cut it anymore.

I’m seeing way too many early birds here for my liking...😁
Spots are already being snatched up by 9:00 AM...😲

Quick question for all you experts out there running YouTube Premium or Vanced...

So, here’s the deal. YouTube rolled out a relatively recent update, and it’s a bit of a headache. They completely changed how the artist and song titles appear when you select the "play video" option—shrinking the font size significantly and shoving everything up into the top left corner. It feels much more cramped than before.

Is there any way for me to revert this back to the old layout? Or even just customize the display of the artist and track names to suit my preferences? I'm wondering if using one of those advanced versions, like either Premium or Vanced, would give me that kind of control, or if I'm just stuck with their new design.

All Music by Peter Andersson

I remember when I first stumbled upon the Cold Meat Industry label here in the States. It felt like stepping into an entirely different dimension. Back then—during the mid-to-late 90s—there really wasn't anything else out there playing that game.

During those initial heavy-hitting years, they released a massive variety of stuff, yet everything stayed within this singular musical universe built on very specific foundations.

Throughout all these years, Peter Andersson and his project Raison d'Etre have remained a true constant. With such a distinct sonic signature, he’s crafted a truly impressive body of work that still stands as a gold standard for future generations of dark ambient and industrial enthusiasts.

The second Amanda Robinson4 dropped Anastasis into the mix, I think we can all agree that every other suggestion is basically dead on arrival. DCD just has such a massive following here in the States—they’re an absolute powerhouse in this scene—so they’re the clear frontrunner for this round...😉

I’m going to go ahead and announce right now that I won't be casting an extra vote—just in case my support for my candidate ends up being the deciding factor. To be perfectly honest, I couldn't justify giving a bonus vote to any other album; none of them really grab my attention enough to make it worth it.

I’m going to allow myself a moment of strictly critical reflection regarding those Brian Eno albums suggested last week...

I mean, seriously, how can we just bypass his most revolutionary, pioneering ambient work every single time? We're talking about the absolute foundation of the genre—specifically Discreet Music (1975), and of course, the timeless classic Music for Airports (1978). It’s like skipping the main course at a five-star restaurant to go straight for the appetizers.😁

In a Timeless Place

Since you all completely overlooked my last suggestion—Peter Murphy & Mick Karn (The Waking Hour), which is truly a masterpiece—I’m not placing huge bets on this next one. But hey, you never know, right?.....😁

Anne Dudley (The Art of Noise) & Jaz Coleman (Killing Joke) - Songs from the Victorious City (1990). It is such a singular collaboration... though unfortunately, it’s one of those gems that remains unfairly overshadowed by the main projects of these two incredible creative minds.

I finally logged onto the forum at exactly 9:57 PM tonight. That’s when I caught a glimpse of the Album of the Week and realized I had completely blanked on it... talk about cutting it close! There were literally only three minutes left on the clock...😁

It’s obviously me... though I have a feeling I’m not the only one out there feeling this way.

Even though Diamanda Galás didn't take home the win this time—though, let’s be honest, I wasn't exactly holding my breath for that one—I’m genuinely thrilled to see her pulling in such a massive wave of voter support. It’s also wonderful to see a respected peer stepping up to help bring her work to a wider audience. After a singular, powerhouse career spanning over forty years, she’s certainly earned that kind of advocacy.

Diamanda Galás - The Litanies Of Satan (1982)

First up is the original US cover from back in 1982.
Second is the 1989 reissue cover—which, if I’m being honest, is much more striking to my eyes.

This year, we finally get a remastered edition. Now, I should offer a small word of caution here; knowing how certain labels operate these days, "remastered" can sometimes be code for "sonically butchered," so take it with a grain of salt.
It’s hitting CD first, and now it’s arriving on vinyl.
I truly hope that the folks producing this kind of "serious music" approach the mastering with the same level of gravity. When you're dealing with this material, sound dynamics are everything. You can't just compress the life out of it.

The album—based on the original US vinyl release—features just two tracks, with one sprawling movement per side.

Tracklisting

Side A - The Litanies Of Satan 17:46
Side B - Wild Women With Steak-Knives 12:04

The Litanies Of Satan

Wild Women With Steak-Knives (The Homicidal Love Song For Solo Scream)

Live Performance from 1985

In my humble opinion, listening to this through high-end audiophile headphones is really the only way to go.
Do you guys actually buy music? in Music ·
Same here... what I’m really hunting for—those true gems from the 80s—won't show up on those mainstream platforms 90% of the time. It's just like how so many 7" or 12" vinyl singles from certain eras, like the 80s, will never see the light of day on CD. Because of that, they'll always be high-demand items, specifically for that tight-knit circle of collectors.

Honestly, I’m just relieved someone else stepped up to make the call.

I didn't want to just blindly back my usual candidate this time around, especially since none of the other options really sat right with me...

I just spent about 15 minutes spinning their album. It’s not quite my absolute favorite thing ever, but man, the production quality is top-tier—it sounds like a massive stadium rock record. 😲

Well, you know... I'm actually kind of glad I didn't spoil too much for you earlier. It’s like when you go see a blockbuster movie without reading the reviews—you get to experience the magic without any outside noise getting in the way. Keeping that sense of discovery is everything.😁

Grc - Freedom for the People (1987)

Since my last "domestic" pick was such a hit, I figured I’d give another one a shot.....

https://www.discogs.com/Gr%C4%8D-Slo...elease/1240708

As you can see from the link, this album originally dropped back in 1987 strictly on cassette tape.

A long, long time ago—back in much simpler times—we used to hunt down these kinds of official and underground releases through local college music cooperatives, like those organized by student unions in cities like Chicago or Boston.
We listened to those tapes so much that some of them were practically worn out from sheer repetition.

Luckily, this wasn't one of those.
This is one of those rare albums that hits you so hard that just one first listen sticks with you for ages.

Tonight the City Burns

(I honestly still find it hard to believe someone actually released a song with a title like that back then.)

Blood Is My Light And My Darkness

Freedom for the People

Three of these tracks also made it onto that legendary compilation titled New York-Paris-Texas, which came out the same year.

Against all odds, the album was remastered a few years back and released in two different vinyl versions.

Me? I’m still hanging out with my old cassette. 😛

Is it just me, or has there been a slight uptick in voter turnout over the last few weeks?
Man, if only I could say the same thing about the number of people jumping into the threads I actually find interesting...😁
