Would you get your kids vaccinated against COVID? in Coronavirus ·
lonemaker14 said:Fair enough. Though I suppose someone might jump in to ask if those extra vaccines were actually tested across all age groups and ethnicities.

I know people who definitely didn't get lucky with "mild" symptoms.

They have been, and they’ve been on the market for quite a while. It’s nothing out of the ordinary—just Rotarix and Prevenar/Pneumovax 23.
Unfortunately, I also know people for whom COVID-19 was severe—I even knew one person who passed away. But that’s just how infections work; for some, COVID-19 is the killer, for others, it’s the flu, and there are even children who die from strep throat...
About 20 years ago, I had the flu—I was young and healthy, yet I honestly thought I was going to die because of how bad it felt. Ever since then, I get my flu shot regularly because I never want to go through that again.
In comparison, COVID-19 was a zero for me. And frankly, I don't see much reason to get vaccinated if my body handled it without any issues.

lonemaker14 said:How old is your kid now, mellowskipper?

Twelve years old. Fully vaccinated—including those extra shots I ended up paying for out of pocket. This winter, she even got her flu shot.
As for COVID, we aren't planning on doing that one. My husband and I have pretty much agreed on that.
I actually caught COVID myself, but I didn't isolate from them, and they stayed perfectly healthy. My symptoms were... well, underwhelming, I guess. Honestly, I felt like I could have run a marathon. A standard winter bug probably would have hit me harder than that did...

There—it’s point number 4.

Travel, sports games, concerts.

Plus, I figure it’s one way to help out the community. My wife isn't on board, though. We had ourselves a bit of an argument.

Maybe she's got a point. 🙂

You probably should have listened to your wife. The latest guidance from the CDC suggests they aren't even recommending vaccination for healthy kids.

Samuel Turner2 said:So, you're just gonna dodge the whole thing regarding the CDC pulling their childhood vaccination recommendations?
How are the people who were out there campaigning for those shots feeling right about now?
And what about the parents who already went ahead and vaccinated their kids based on that advice?
👎

I feel for those kids, truly. I suppose this is just more blatant proof that we shouldn't blindly swallow everything they feed us—one really ought to be questioning things constantly. It’s best not to get ahead of oneself, as the old folks used to say... maybe we should have been more skeptical from the start.

Rebecca Sanders65 said:Greetings,

I hope I’ve managed to land on the right term for this issue that’s been weighing on me—I mean, I'm probably overthinking it, but I guess there's no harm in trying.

So, I’ve been dealing with some pretty restless sleep for quite a while now—it’s become a bit of a recurring issue, I guess. My dreams are incredibly vivid, almost too much so; they tend to bleed into reality in a way that feels... unsettling. Sometimes I’ll be asleep, yet my eyes are actually open, and I find myself talking in my sleep or making these random movements. It's all a bit strange, really.

Everything would be fine if I hadn't already seriously injured myself twice in my dreams—first time I smashed through an arcade machine and ended up needing stitches, and then there was that time I actually broke my humerus. Last night, I had another one of those shows... luckily I came out okay this time, though my left side is pretty bruised and my skin is all scraped up. So now I’m wondering what to do about it—is there any actual help out there? Does anyone else deal with this kind of thing?

I honestly can't wrap my head around what kind of restless movement they’re even talking about that would result in injuries that serious—I mean, I guess it depends on the context, but it seems a bit hyperbolic, doesn't it? Maybe?
I suppose some level of processing is definitely required here—it’s pretty much a necessity, really.

OutOfBubblegum said:Just like all the other strains. This whole "new GMO" thing is honestly just an overblown lie regarding actual risks.

Honestly, I’ve started questioning if these specific strains even exist at all.
I mean, tomorrow I could just claim some weird, foreign-engineered strain showed up, and what is any regular person—just an average Joe—supposed to do to actually verify that? It's basically impossible to check...

No mobile repair crew is setting foot inside my house. I've got three dogs—just have them check the backyard if they must.

Elizabeth Adams11 said:I'm 53. After nine years of needles and five years on methadone, I've been steady on 32 mg of Suboxone for seven years now. I've been hunting for one specific answer for weeks, but I'm coming up empty. I just started a job in Austria. My psychiatrist was kind enough to set me up with a month's supply, but it requires me to drive over 400249 miles miles once a month to get it. I can't help but worry about what happens if the local police pull me over and find the Suboxone. I have a handwritten prescription from my doctor—though it's practically illegible—listing my regimen: 16 mg Suboxone, 1x 10 mg Norvale, 1x Misar, and 25 mg Lepatil.
My apologies if I'm in the wrong place; I couldn't find a suitable thread for this question on the forum.
Long story short: can I get this prescribed locally in Austria, and how do I handle the border crossing? Thanks.

Well, if you're registered there, have health insurance, and a doctor, then I guess it should be possible.

Matthew Jackson2 said:And then there's the other question: at what point in time will these vaccines likely become completely obsolete...

That’s exactly my point. I mean—honestly—by what year will this all just be a bad memory...

electricstag2 said:It’s particularly noteworthy that... For the exact same thing. Honestly, in her case, it’s even more egregious—since he didn't at least go as far as physically mutilating her. He lost his job and saw his entire career dismantled, while she, being the owner of her own anatomy, faced absolutely zero repercussions. It would have stayed that way too, I suppose, if Depp hadn't uncovered the actual evidence regarding who the real abuser was. So, thanks to toxic feminism, I guess.

Usually, in cases like this—well, I suppose you could say it's just two mismatched pieces being forced together—it’s nothing more than a quick fix, a band-aid solution, or maybe just trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. It takes two crazies to make a match, I guess. Luckily, they don't have any kids...

Jesse Hughes6 said:Since when did Prevenar become part of the standard vaccination schedule? When we were getting our kid vaccinated, it was an out-of-pocket expense.

Well, it's officially on the recommended schedule now. I ended up getting Prevenar, Pneumo 23, and Rotarix myself. Honestly, looking back, it was probably one of the better calls I made.

Morgan Peterson said:Wait, what do you mean there isn't a vaccine?
We have Prevenar for pneumococcus, and it's part of the standard vaccination schedule here in Rhode Island. I actually went looking for that specific vaccine for my own little one back when it wasn't included in the routine shots yet.
And then there's the vaccine against meningococcus -

I wasn't talking about Prevenar. I ended up buying both that and Pneumo 23 for my daughter myself, which—I guess—did help protect her from pneumonia. But, well, we still dealt with those strep throat infections a few times, so naturally, she had to end up on antibiotics regardless.

Nicole James said:And let's not forget the context—we are dealing with a pandemic involving a novel virus. We already know it can cause severe clinical issues in adults, and it can trigger multi-system inflammatory syndrome in children. Honestly, we still don't have a clear picture of how all of this might negatively impact their long-term health.

I mean, any infection can cause problems like that, I guess. Kids today still die from strep throat because of complications or sepsis, despite having access to top-tier diagnostics, specialists, and antibiotics... yet almost every child has had it at least once or twice. So, I really don't see why there's such a massive rush to scramble for a vaccine...

Here comes another round of fearmongering to rattle the masses. 🤦

The guy is clearly talking out of his rear end. If those numbers were even remotely accurate, pediatric cardiology departments across the country would be completely overwhelmed right now.

Ethan Kelly7 said:A few different vets have diagnosed her based on what they're seeing—it’s pretty much official at this point. We actually set up a camera just to keep an eye on her when we aren't around, and... well, I hate to say it, but it seems pretty obvious what's going on.

As for the CBD oil, we’ve had some mixed reviews so far. Honestly, after trying the "heavy-duty" stuff and various natural remedies, we aren't exactly holding our breath—we're a bit skeptical—but if you think it's worth a shot, I suppose we could try it too.

Does anyone happen to know any reliable overseas pharmacies? I managed to find one, but it looks incredibly sketchy, so I'm hesitant.

Thanks so much!

Personally, I order from AllDayChemist. Just make sure you search using the generic drug name. Shipping usually takes about 3 to 4 weeks.

Selegiline is an anti-Parkinson's medication—it’s sold here as Juicy Juice by Pfizer, for instance—but a vet isn't going to be able to write you a private prescription for that type of thing.
If I were in your shoes, I might give CBD oil a shot.
If that doesn't pan out, I suppose there are international online pharmacies where you can order Selegiline directly.
Maybe you could check the Pet PDF for more info. Good luck.
