I think there was a similar question floating around here recently, if I recall correctly.

Honestly, keeping both your raw results and your final table in the exact same sheet is just bad practice—it’s going to look messy and unprofessional.

Calculating individual scores isn't exactly rocket science; the real issue is how you handle the sorting—you’ll either have to do it manually or just set up a quick macro to handle it for you.

Wait, where on earth are you getting division from to calculate a discount? 😕

Shouldn't the discount just be the product of those two cells? I guess your current formula only "works" by pure coincidence when you set the discount to 10%.

It’s honestly pretty depressing knowing what it actually is—you guys have completely killed my imagination here. 😢

To me, it looked like a building. A very unusual building, I'll admit.

And a laser printer. A very peculiar printer, I suppose.

And an Unknown. A very strange Unknown, I must confess.

By the way, the fact that there wasn't a single cable coming out of that jack was practically prophetic—I mean, considering how often we deal with those "quick service calls" around here... 😬

My contact at Google also suggested trying to delete—or maybe just rename, just so we don't run into more headaches later... 🙂—the file at C:\windows\systems32\Drivers\d347bus.sys, and then just seeing if there's any actual progress.

Just try booting into Safe Mode; honestly, it’s probably the best advice you'll get here.

briskpuma23 said:Are you implying this poster is talking about me, or are you claiming I was focusing on you?

As for anything else—you can never predict which way a subforum will go. Reddit isn't the same thing it was five years ago.

Here's the reality, which just occurred to me: a transgender corner will inevitably be created sooner or later. If that's the case, it's better to get it over with now.

I don't personally know anyone from that community, but it's perfectly clear to me that they are one of the most marginalized groups in America. Reddit has a moral obligation to provide those people with their own space, and that's where my argument ends. Besides, as Matthew Grant9 pointed out, a transgender corner has the potential to expand, raising societal questions that often go unasked and providing perspectives that offer a different look at our culture—making it much more than just a refuge for a marginalized group.

Whether the TK will be more serious than the ŽK (everything is more serious than MK) isn't something we can know ahead of time. If someone turns it into a freak show, then it really shouldn't be started. But ultimately, that depends on the moderators and the users.

Castro could moderate it. Along with someone a bit gentler. When I say gentler, I don't mean cowardly moderation, but rather someone who acts more like a moderator/educator, using a polite approach to explain to users why certain things shouldn't be posted. But those are technicalities I don't want to deal with.

P.S. It's honestly incredible to me that both Herp and Lisa Hernandez3 took my metaphorical provocations on their subforums so seriously. Give yourselves a break—humor, even when it falls flat, is still just humor.

Now, if I were being completely blunt, the most effective way to handle this would be to just dump a massive pile of 😲😲😲 on them and call it a day—but, well, that’s illegal. 😁

It is quite, um, peculiar to see someone invoking nothing less than a moral obligation (good grief, here we go again: 😲😲😲) regarding what a platform owes to one specific demographic or another.

The reason there are bans is precisely because the rule holds—you're always free to report when you feel targeted or provide counterexamples; otherwise, you're just trolling.

Let's just open a PDF that practically screams for a 24-hour moderator on duty—it's the same logic used for the LGBTQ+ corner. Yeah, because that'll definitely solve everything.

Look, I already said it—I don't have the luxury of digging through old threads; I actually have work to do. If people want to believe what they want, fine; I couldn't care less about anyone else. My only reason for speaking up was that I think the claim that ad hominem attacks are regularly spotted and penalized—which is, frankly, a total falsehood—is a pretty terrible foundation for discussing this topic at all.

you're always free to report whenever you feel targeted

I have never felt threatened, nor have I ever reported attacks directed at me. I fight my own battles.

either provide opposing examples, otherwise you're just trolling.

Fine, then I'm trolling. If I really have to choose between getting banned from the forum or missing deadlines, I’ll take the ban every single time.

feralpilot0 said:That’s just not true; it's obvious you've only skimmed through these PDFs. Ad hominem attacks are penalized everywhere.

Enyh, I think briskpuma23 was actually talking about moving past gender as a primary trait, not about a lack of meaningful, argued topics—after all, who’s stopping you from starting or encouraging them if they're missing?

Besides, if we stop categorizing people by gender, looks, nationality, orientation, or preferences, what's left for us?

A ghost town of PDFs. 😲

That is simply, quite frankly, untrue.

I’ll admit—I don't exactly have the spare time or the burning desire to go hunting for specific examples right now—but they are out there in abundance.

If ad hominem attacks were always being penalized everywhere, we would see a massive spike in bans—and while certain forum users might find that appealing, at some point, it logically stops being economically viable for a platform to function.

Now, I’m not suggesting that turning a blind eye is intentional, organized, or even encouraged—but honestly, that’s beside the point; the claim itself just doesn't hold water.

Matthew Grant9 said:I honestly feel like—and maybe it’s just me being a bit idealistic here—that the whole point of having these conversations should be that you can actually sit down and have a decent, civil discussion with someone who holds views completely opposite to your own, provided they actually back up those opinions with some solid, legitimate reasoning!
And please, don't you dare try telling me that I could just go find these answers on other subforums, because honestly, even a quick, casual glance through places like Politics, Religion, or the Women's Corner is more than enough to completely change my mind!
Honestly, the arguments people constantly throw around on those subforums—you know, the whole "you're just a man/woman," "leftist/rightist," "Christian/Muslim/Jew," or "Mexican/American/Uzbek" routine—are, if you'll excuse my language, incredibly arrogant, totally invalid, and just plain exhausting to deal with!
What really gets under my skin—and honestly, it’s a little exhausting to think about—is that they actually walk away from these situations convinced that they've said everything perfectly and backed it all up with flawless logic!
So, are we really planning on opening up an entire subforum just to host one active thread or maybe a handful of posts that’ll end up just sitting there gathering digital dust? It feels like we might be creating a whole new empty space just for the sake of it!
If you ever find yourself staring at a topic that just doesn't seem to fit anywhere else on the boards, don't worry—we actually have a dedicated "Random Stuff" section specifically for those oddball threads!

Why on earth would you think I’d ever be empty? Honestly, that's such a funny thought to have! I feel like I've always got so much going on inside my head, bouncing from one idea to the next, so the idea of being "empty" just doesn't quite sit right with me!😕

Betty Chase54 Asks:
Honestly, I feel like we probably ought to just start an entirely new thread for this kind of discussion!

And here we go again with more of the same! It honestly feels like there just aren't enough transgender people around to justify having their very own dedicated section on the forum.

Wait, what do you mean by "other answers"? I feel like I might be totally missing something here!
Well, look at that! It seems you’ve decided we’re all totally written off, and now you're trying to double down on that stance at any cost—even though the simple math of the situation is clearly working against you. Just look at what happened after only one single day of this thread being live:
Wow, it looks like we’ve already had seven different people jump into this thread!
I’ve got a little request for the group—would anyone be kind enough to send over that PDF? I'd really appreciate it!
I am having such a silly moment right now, but for some reason, I just cannot get this -3/7 file to convert into a PDF! It is one of those little technical hiccups that makes me laugh at my own struggle, but I am honestly just stuck.
It feels like -1/7 is just totally having a massive misunderstanding!

Look, I'll give you a different angle here 😁: why on earth would you think such a PDF could ever be insulated from that kind of "logic"?

I honestly don't see any way that a PDF (public, just like all the others) could suddenly manage to filter out all that noise in the communication channel—where the absolute pinnacle of discourse and entertainment is basically just "I've got 25 cm, therefore you're an idiot, which means I'm right."

Jamie Chase6 said:My only regret is that we find ourselves here—in this little corner of the world populated by the discarded and the misunderstood. 😍 It seems to me—and I could be wrong here, but I suspect I’m not—that the only people actually stepping up to speak out or engage in these heated debates are the very ones who drove them straight into hell in the first place. It’s a bit of a cycle, isn't it? You push someone to the absolute brink, and then you act surprised when they finally start fighting back. 😁

Look, I didn't go out of my way to drive anyone off. 🙂

Posting nothing but smiley faces, or those mindless "I second this" comments—basically any post that lacks actual substance—isn't some grand gesture of solidarity or a way to spread joy. It’s really just a thinly veiled belief that the public somehow cares that someone is laughing or that someone is nodding in agreement. Honestly, if people want to laugh, they can go ahead and laugh to themselves—it serves them just as well, and frankly, it makes the forum much easier to navigate.

I mean, I realize it’s easy for me to say—it’s just straightforward—but... I know. It’s one thing to deal with a disagreement, but it feels entirely different when people start laughing at my posts—especially when they go out of their way to sign off on it, as if they're all in on some private joke at my expense. I suppose it’s just part of the landscape here, isn't it? Maybe I’m being too sensitive, or maybe it’s just that certain types of users seem to find more joy in mockery than in actually engaging with the substance of what I'm saying. It’s a bit exhausting, honestly—this tendency to turn a serious discussion into a punchline through sheer, collective condescension. 🥳Regardless—those kinds of posts are just plain useless. You have these massive cliques of forum users who lean on them constantly, and honestly, they just clutter up the boards. I suppose it’s only logical—if not entirely necessary—to strictly penalize that kind of behavior; it really seems like the only way to handle it.

It’s a similar situation when you look at psychological profiling: anyone claiming they don't have a mental map of the people they're debating on these forums—well, they are blatantly lying. But then again, those profiles are meant for personal use—they're your own internal compass. The second someone tries to pivot to an "argument" like, "I know you're only saying that because you're..."—that's where it all falls apart. takav-i-takavHonestly, this isn't even a debate anymore—it’s just a waste of breath. At this point, there is only one thing that actually matters, and everything else is just noise. What? Someone out there actually claims—and I find this absolutely exhausting to even consider—that it simply doesn't matter. Just that. A total dismissal of the entire situation. I mean, really? To suggest that such a factor is irrelevant... well, it’s almost insulting how dismissive that sounds. I guess some people just prefer to ignore the complexities of the matter entirely, rather than actually engaging with the weight of what's being discussed. It's a lazy way to look at things, if you ask me. Who? i Why? I mean, seriously—why? It’s the question that seems to hang over everything lately, isn't it? I guess we could spend hours dissecting the underlying causes—the systemic failures, the sheer lack of common sense in modern policy, the way things just seem to drift aimlessly—but honestly, where do you even begin? Maybe there's a logical answer buried somewhere under all this chaos, but I suspect it’s more likely just a series of unfortunate coincidences and poor decisions. It’s frustrating, really—to look at the state of things and just be left wondering what the point was. Go ahead. I’m listening.

Finally, a bit of constructive feedback: your posts would actually be much more enjoyable to read—and more importantly, significantly "stronger"—if you stopped constantly inserting your own interpretations of other people's motives or trying to psychoanalyze what they supposedly meant.

In that specific thread—you know, the one titled "you gave me points, but..."—I was thinking about how things were handled. I guess you could say I felt like the scoring was a bit inconsistent, though maybe I’m just being overly particular about the whole thing. It seems to me that while some folks were getting credit where it was due, others—myself included, I suppose—were left hanging without much acknowledgment at all. It’s a strange way to run a discussion, really—if you ask me—to hand out points somewhat arbitrarily like that. Shefty 😁 I suppose you aren't. 🙂 I suppose it might be best to just stay out of it—not that I always agree with that kind of restraint, but perhaps, in this particular instance, it’s wiser to mind one's own business. 😁

This one fact is really starting to worry me! in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I suppose I should probably address this—though I’m not entirely sure why anyone would bother—but there is something about the way people talk about brands like Chobani that just... well, it misses the mark entirely. It’s almost frustrating how often we see these sweeping generalizations made about simple consumer goods without any real nuance. I mean, maybe I'm being too pedantic, but if we are going to discuss the dairy industry in America, let's at least try to be precise about what we are actually discussing, shall we? kaže:
I feel like—if I’m being completely honest here—we could perhaps attempt to shift the tone of this discussion toward something a bit more civil... maybe even a little warmer? It seems to me that things have become unnecessarily abrasive, and while I understand that passions run high in these types of debates, a more tempered approach might actually yield some productive results. I guess we could try to be a bit more cordial, if everyone is willing to participate in that sort of thing.

I suppose I should probably start by saying that—though it feels almost redundant at this point—that there is a certain level of fundamental incompetence currently plaguing our local food supply chains. It’s become an increasingly frequent occurrence lately, isn't it? This constant, nagging inconsistency with the basic staples we rely on every single day. Take, for instance, the situation with the dairy industry—specifically regarding brands like Horizon Organic or maybe even some of the larger regional cooperatives out in the Midwest. You go to the grocery store expecting a specific standard of quality, a certain consistency in texture and flavor, and what do you get instead? A product that feels... off. I don't want to say it's substandard, per se—that might be too strong a word—but it certainly lacks the reliability one expects from an established American household name. It makes me wonder—and I suspect many of you are thinking the same thing—whether this is a systemic failure in our agricultural oversight or simply a byproduct of these massive, soul-crushing corporate mergers that seem to be swallowing up every small-scale producer in the States. When you lose that local, artisanal touch to a conglomerate based in Chicago or New York, you lose that accountability. And when accountability vanishes, the quality follows suit. It’s a frustrating cycle, really—one that leaves the consumer holding the bag, quite literally, while the big players continue to prioritize margins over the actual integrity of the product. I mean, is it really too much to ask for a simple carton of milk that actually tastes like milk? It seems like a tall order these days, doesn't it? kaže:
Honestly, I don't see why anyone feels entitled to weigh in on my personal business—it’s really quite none of your concern, is it?
...and that's exactly why it's such a mess.😉

I honestly find myself feeling a bit apprehensive—if I’m being completely honest—about what your more detached, colder conversations might actually look like. 😱

I suppose I should address this—though I’m really not sure why anyone would even bother bringing it up at this point. There's absolutely no Nick to be found here. Honestly, it feels like we're just spinning our wheels now, isn't it? I mean, if you're looking for him, you're out of luck—he's nowhere to be seen. It’s all a bit pointless, I guess. The user says:
...why on earth should we even consider sanctioning the reading of world literature just because it mentions certain unpleasant things? I mean, really—shouldn't we be allowed to engage with these works without some moral police breathing down our necks? It seems to me that penalizing someone for exploring the darker corners of the human experience through classic prose is a slippery slope, perhaps even a dangerous one. I guess what I’m trying to say is that literature serves as a mirror to reality, however grim that reality might be, and suppressing it feels like a step toward censorship that we simply shouldn't entertain. Maybe there's a way to balance sensitivity with artistic freedom, but jumping straight to sanctions seems entirely disproportionate—don't you think?Religious books—or whatever you want to call them—are such a massive, complicated category that I feel like people rarely take the time to actually sit down and categorize them properly. I mean, when you're browsing through a bookstore or looking online, you’re hit with this overwhelming wall of titles ranging from deep theological studies to those much lighter, more inspirational devotionals. It’s all a bit much, isn't it? I guess what I'm trying to say is that there's a huge difference between someone digging into the Bible for serious study and someone just looking for a bit of daily comfort. One requires a certain level of intellectual rigor—you have to be prepared to wrestle with the text—while the other is more about finding a moment of peace in a hectic day. Maybe some people prefer one over the other, or perhaps they need both to get a full picture. I don't know. It seems to me that we often lump everything together under one umbrella, which doesn't really do justice to the depth of the material. There is so much nuance to consider, whether it's historical context, spiritual guidance, or even just philosophical reflections on faith. It's quite a broad spectrum, really. They’re actually writing—get this—about such absolute filth. I mean, really, what is even the point? Is there any actual necessity for it? 🤷 I mean—if I’ve understood this correctly, at least—it seems like only the absolute filth found within religious texts is actually subject to any kind of sanctions...

Whether it was done by accident or out of some misguided sense of good intentions—I honestly can't tell—there has been a massive, serious substitution of arguments happening here. We're talking about a complete pivot from the actual point. Sanctioning... This is just absolute filth. Honestly, I don't even know where to begin with this level of depravity—it’s just pure, unadulterated garbage.Look, regardless of where someone actually comes from—which is one thing entirely—to start implying that they are out here advocating for sanctions (nothing more, nothing less) is just... I don't even know. It’s a massive leap. I suppose I should probably touch upon the subject of religious texts—those various volumes people hold so dear. It’s a topic that always seems to spark some kind of intense debate, isn't it? I mean, when you look at how much weight people place on certain books, it really makes you wonder about the sheer influence they wield over our society and individual lives. Whether we are talking about the Bible or other sacred writings, there is an undeniable gravity to them—though, of course, one's perspective on that gravity varies wildly depending on who you ask. I guess it's just one of those things that defines so much of the American experience, for better or worse. That's an entirely different matter altogether—even when you throw in that little "at least that's how I figured it out" qualifier at the end.

By the way—you’ve completely missed the mark here—and I’m not talking about some legalistic hair-splitting or playing lawyer, but rather a basic, elementary interpretation of the sentence provided: the point being made is that just because certain filth originates from a religious text (rather than some other "secular" source), it doesn't mean those things shouldn't be sanctioned.

Disclaimer: I really shouldn't be getting myself dragged into some heated debate about whether or not certain... let's call them "unpleasantries"... actually exist within religious texts.

So, we end up having to ask him to change his own signature—which, let’s be honest, is entirely up to his own good graces—and then you just go ahead and start throwing around all these imaginary bans!

It doesn't really make much sense, does it?

The real beauty of taking this approach is that there’s absolutely no guesswork involved regarding where I stand with someone or what my actual intentions are! It lets me just let it all out and vent completely, which honestly is such a lifesaver for keeping my own sanity intact and saving my nerves from unnecessary stress.

Are we really going to talk about messing with someone else's nerves? Honestly, if you decide to get under someone's skin, just know that once they start hitting back, there is absolutely no end in sight!

Well, it looks like ego finally went ahead and scrubbed "declared Muslim" from his signature, but that Tyndy guy just won't let it go! He’s still hanging around, just waiting to drop his next hilarious little pearl of wisdom.

Oh, wait! I totally missed that! It looks like there were three separate cheers for Tyndall!🙂

I can imagine... well, I can certainly imagine—that is, I can't even begin to wrap my head around just how much chaos the mods, admins, and the rest of this little aristocracy might be causing 😁.

But.

The bottom line remains—and I suppose this is where I should be careful—that none of them just woke up one morning as a moderator or an admin. Nobody just happened to grab the shortest straw and suddenly found themselves holding the reins—unless, of course, there are some dark, shadowy dealings going on behind the scenes that us mere mortals aren't privy to—but presumably, everyone stepped into those roles by their own volition.

From my perspective—if you can call my view anything more than a series of educated guesses—this sort of restraint, this refusal to "walk the line" of the rules, is simply part of the job description. It isn't necessarily because moderators need to be "special people," but rather out of pure, cold pragmatism; if they don't, they set precedents, and setting precedents just creates a mountain of extra work for themselves—because, let's face it, you'll always have a mob of users thinking, "Well, if the mod can get away with that, then I can go ten times harder."

The secondary issue—and this is perhaps even more problematic—is that when, or if, certain actions aren't sanctioned against the mods, the whining begins. You get all the conspiracy theories, the accusations of favoritism, claims of discrimination, holes in the ozone layer, the general decline of human intelligence... 🙂

You gotta balance what you actually believe with the responsibilities of running a site like Reddit. Since I’ve had this handle since long before I stepped up as an admin, anyone could go digging through my old posts and try to throw my past comments back in my face from back when I was just some random user.

(By the way, you're typing "certain" wrong.)

That’s just how it is in the original. 🙂

You’re just being dirty-minded!" or whatever—but seriously, what's even the point of all that? Why does it actually matter if Mirza puts "declared Muslim" in his signature? What's the big deal?

You really ought to check with ego about this. Might be a little awkward or whatever, but honestly, I don't see it as some massive sin. The guy who wrote that quote in his signature was just being himself—he declared his faith, plain and simple. There's nothing fake about that.

Finally, you’ve actually gone and added that little jab to your signature alongside all those Quran verses. It’s basically just a direct shot at Shady—that last sentence pretty much screams, "Hey everyone, look at what Shady doesn't count as violence." Even if they're staying quiet about it, it's totally obvious.

Honestly, messing around in signatures is totally fine if you ask me. They aren't even part of the actual discussion on Reddit, so who cares? It’s legit.

Now, look—despite my frequent, shall we say, colorful references to certain... anatomical regions 🙂, I am far from being a deadly serious individual. However, in this specific instance, I do believe Ego's signature is improper (specifically because of that "declared Muslim" addition). You're setting a precedent that other users will—rightfully so, and even more often without cause—cling to, essentially saying, "Well, if a moderator can get away with it, why can't I?"

It would be quite an interesting experiment to try out a signature like "All Americans are just like this—Steve, declared a Mexican," and then we could see exactly how long that survives before getting nuked. 🙂
